Choosing a career is more of a personal decision. Most pediatricians say they love and want to help children and young adults, including their families. Being a Pediatrician is a wonderful way to help children in ways most people can not. Many people say this job is very difficult to handle because it can get stressful. They say there is not much room for personal time or family time, but in the end it can be quite rewarding. Some say this job is easy, but they don’t live the life of a pediatrician. They say all they do is examine and determine problems that may exist within children. (Career Cruising) A great communication skill is one of the most important skills to have when speaking to others appropriately, to receive information effectively. Also, reading comprehension would be a necessity for someone to understand work related sentences and paragraphs in an important document. Always be an active listener, by giving full attention to people talking, do not interrupt, make sure to understand the points being made, and ask questions if not sure. The last skill, which is needed, is social perceptiveness. Social perceptiveness: to be aware of people’s reactions and understanding to why they react the way they do. (Career Info) The employment prospects, which mean the career or employment opportunities presented, are excellent for a pediatrician. (Field, Shelly) “The best geographical location for a pediatrician is nearly anywhere throughout the country.” (Field, Shelly) So it is easier to find a job as a pediatrician in a location that is desired. Some benefits may include paid vacations and sick days, life and health insurance, and even pension plans. (Career Cruising) if a pediatrician works for themselves, then they would need to supply their own benefits. (Career Cruising) Many people believe pediatricians and medical doctors are the same. The truth is they are not. They both provide care and focus on their patient’s family and their own community.
