The Little Known Victims of the Holocaust Many people look back on the Holocaust today and realize that so many abysmal and hideous things happened. The genocide of the Jews is known but what may be less well documented is Hitler’s design to eradicate all groups other than the blue-eyed, fair-haired Aryans. So many of them were forgotten and just pushed in with the major race of the Jews, who were said to be unworthy of life. The people were not ready, nor expecting to be forced into such an egregious state of being. Adolf Hitler excruciatingly persecuted every race that he thought was unsuitable for his dream of a Master Race. On September 1, 1939, Hitler began the start of World War II. He decided that he wanted to build what he …show more content…
Hitler thought that they were the only children of God and the Jews and other non-German races were here only to be once removed; they were an undeserving race to be on Earth (Berenbaum 68). Every victim of the Holocaust was under the category of “The Untermenschen”, which meant that they were not considered human and were treated horrendously. The Slavs, Poles, Gypsies, German homosexuals, Blacks, and the Communists were killed. Even the disabled and every one with incurable illnesses were Untermenschen as far as Hitler was concerned. The major race, besides the Jews, that was to be eliminated completely was the Romanian Gypsies (Friedman 7). No one of that race was allowed to live. From the ages zero to one hundred, absolutely no one was to remain alive. In the beginning, the Gypsies were treated poorly and their talent and success became a major threat to all the local people. It was then that Hitler decided they were not to be around anymore. They were all considered like second-class citizens if not more poorly. The Nazi’s were even told to experiment on them to try to prove that the Gypsies were somehow of different blood and not like that of the Master Race. A perverse man, Dr, Mengele, did shocking and appalling experiments on people and he was especially interested in experiments on twins. Despite the fact that a
Over one million Jewish children died during the Holocaust. They were ripped out of their homes and taken away from their families, and stripped of their childhoods. Innocent lives were caught in a war that they were not able to stop. When Adolf Hitler came to power in 1933, he promised Germany that he would improve life their by getting rid of the one race that caused the problems, the Jews. Jews, including Jewish children, were sent to concentration camps, inspected, and if approved, were sent to work. All others would have been sent to be killed. Being sent to work did not ensure survival, children would be given very little food and water, and beaten severely, which caused their death. None of the children of the Holocaust will ever
Well, Jehovah’s Witnesses believed that Jesus is God’s only direct creation, and that everything else was created by means of Christ. Every European Country, had people who didn’t believe in Nazi ideology. Hitler didn’t like this group of Christians because they refused to recognized any other god other than Jehovah. They were forced to wear purple wristbands and thousands were imprisoned as traitors. Who were the Roma Gypsies? Well, like the Jews, Roma Gypsies were selected for complete destruction because of their race. The Roma Gypsies were a nomadic people that were prosecuted throughout history. 500,000 Roma Gypsies were destroyed during the Holocaust. What happened to Homosexuals during the Holocaust? Homosexuals were prosecuted, tortured, and executed. Hitler even searched Nazis and he found homosexuals and he sent them to concentration camps. Homosexual Inmates were forced to wear pink triangles, so they could be humiliated inside the camp. 15,000 homosexuals died during the Holocaust. What happened to the disabled? Well, Hitler decided that it was a waste of time to support the disabled, so he sentenced them to death. Let me conclude by recapping my points. I began by telling you how different types of people died during the Holocaust. Then, we looked into what happened to some of the Non-Jewish Victims during the Holocaust. So, everyone remember that the Holocaust was a violent and deadly time
Accordingly, Hitler began eradicating all nationalities that he considered second-rate to Germans. Many believe that the depopulation technique was the “German viewpoint of the Nazi government, which wanted to create a "master race" of Aryan people. After January 1933, the Jews were placed in concentration camps which started the Holocaust” (Katz, 1994).
Oppressors have changed our world in a huge way from bullying to millions of deaths. 6 million Jewish people were victims of the holocaust during World War II. One person changed our whole world. Adolf Hitler, leader of the Nazi party and dictator of Germany. During this time Hitler removed the civil rights of the jews, and his goal in mind was for the expulsion of all Jews from Germany. Hitler caused millions of deaths because he decided to blame the jews for all of Germany’s problems, Hitler also thought of Jews as another inferior race, so inferior to the point that they really were not considered human. In result of this Hitler is the vital oppressor of the victims of the holocaust.
Throughout the Holocaust, “the Nazis killed over 1.5 billion children” (Children during the Holocaust). Of these children, one million of them were Jewish. The Nazis had no good reason to kill them; they only killed these innocent children because Hitler did not care for their race. The Nazis, a forceful, merciless power led by Adolf Hitler brainwashed the country of Germany into believing that Jews and other races were awful. These children bravely fought persecution and avoided death by hiding or receiving help, which makes us remember these people like Anne Frank, but it was not just the Jewish and other races that were in trouble, the German children got into trouble by joining Hitler Youth.
Hitler took this hatred he possessed for the Jews and his pursues of Aryan supremacy to an extensive degree. Between 1939-1945 Hitler took action, extermination, or death camps were established for the sole purpose of killing men, women, and children. Jews were not the only victims of the Nazis during World War II, The Nazis also imprisoned and killed people who opposed their regime on grounds of their ideology; Roma (Gypsies); Germans who were mentally impaired or physically disabled; homosexuals; and captured Soviet soldiers. Heinous crimes inflicted upon the prisoners within the concentration camps and during Hitler’s reign were intense beyond belief. So called camp doctors would torture and inflict incredible suffering on Jewish children, Gypsy children and many others. Patients were put
Almost six million Jews and over 220,000 gypsies were murdered in gas chambers and furnaces, as well as from extreme fatigue, malnourishment, and illnesses. Nazis believed that Jews were the cause of all of Germany’s problems and, therefore, should be eradicated. Gypsies were seen as outcasts, with no place to fit in. Hitler ordered them to be exiled for having their own vernaculars and traditions. Homosexuals, primarily men, were also persecuted for their ways of life. Around 15,000 homosexuals were imprisoned in camps, and an estimated 10,000 were murdered. Unfortunately, Nazis were not the only ones guilty of killing homosexuals; fellow inmates of
“The Holocaust did not happen suddenly, it was the end of a long process of anti-Semitism. The Nazis had come to power in 1933, and used propaganda and terror to enforce their anti-Semitic policies. Laws were passed by the Nazis called the Nuremberg Laws. These laws took away all the human rights of Jews.” This quote means that it took time for it to take place, and start to “work”. Hitler controlled the genocide. His goal was to exterminate everyone that wasn’t like him. Other countries got involved because Hitler would invade them and take over their armies. Countries also got involved because they wanted to help the Jews, and everyone else that was being affected. The war went on for 6 years, but the Holocaust went on for 12 years(1933-1945). This means that about 1 million people died every year. Many people died during the Holocaust. “Jews: up to 6 million, Soviet civilians: around 7 million (including 1.3 Soviet Jewish civilians, who are included in the 6 million figure for Jews), Soviet prisoners of war: around 3 million (including about 50,000 Jewish soldiers), Serb civilians (on the territory of Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina): 312,000, People with disabilities living in institutions: up to 250,000, Roma (Gypsies): 196,000–220,000, Jehovah's Witnesses: Around 1,900, Homosexuals: hundreds, possibly thousands (possibly also counted in part under the 70,000 repeat criminal offenders and so-called
The Holocaust of 1933-1945, was the systematic killing of millions of European Jews by the National Socialist German Worker’s Party (Nazis) (Webster, 430). This project showed the treacherous treatment towards all Jews of that era. Though many fought against this horrific genocide, the officials had already determined in their minds to exterminate the Jews. Thus, the Holocaust was a malicious movement that broke up many homes, brought immense despair, and congregated great discrimination. The Holocaust was an act of Hell on earth.
The Holocaust is most often associated with the slaughter of millions of Jewish people. However they are not the only ones to be brutally murdered. In order to fit in with Hitler’s “Aryan Race”, one must be blond, blue eyed, German and essentially “perfect.” For Hitler, that meant that people with disabilities were to be slaughtered as well as sterilized. Some of the first to be exterminated are the mentally, physically and emotionally disabled. He used propaganda to make the Germans “okay” with it. Parents were told their children passed away from their disabilities. When he actually had them experimented on, murdered, and wiped off the face of the earth. He wanted to “clean” the gene pool.
Hitler believed Germans were racially superior and deemed Jews and other ‘undesirables’ a threat and ‘impurity’ to the community. In 1933, before Nazi Germany came into
These conditions worsened in the Protectorate. Being an ethnic minority and, by national socialist standards, classed as racially inferior, the Romani people were a clear target and part of the Third Reich's goal to purge Europe of all "impure races".
The Holocaust is most well-known for the organized and inhumane extermination of more than six million Jews. The death total of the Jews is this most staggering; however, other groups such as Gypsies, Poles, Russians, political groups, Jehovah’s witnesses, and homosexuals were targeted as well (Holocaust Encyclopedia: Introduction to the Holocaust). The initial idea of persecuting select groups of people began with Adolf Hitler’s rise to power in Germany. In January 1930, Hitler became the Chancellor of Germany after winning over its people with powerful and moving speeches. From this point forward, it was a goal for both Hitler and his Nazi Party to rid the world of deemed “inferior” groups of people (Holocaust Encyclopedia: Timeline
Throughout the Holocaust, Jewish people suffered in numerous and various ways. Jews suffered as a part of the Nazi plotted “Final Solution.” The Final Solution was a plan during World War II to systematically exterminate the Jewish people in Nazi-occupied Europe. This resulted in the most deadly phase of the Holocaust, the destruction of Jewish communities in continental Europe. The leader of the Nazi regime was Adolf Hitler, who believed there was a perfect race, which was the Aryan race (Bohm 4). The Aryan race had blue eyes and blonde hair, although Hitler himself was not an Aryan. Throughout the Holocaust, Jewish people suffered physically, psychologically, and financially.
During the early 1700's The Diet of Augsburg allowed for even more unfair treatment and discrimination when it ruled that Christians could legally kill "Gypsies". Meanwhile, the courts were closed to the "Gypsies" who were injured by Christians. This new law paved the steps for what happened in 1721. Emperor Karl VI of what is now Germany ordered total genocide of the "Gypsies". People gather to organize "Gypsy Hunts" to track down and exterminate them.
