First of all, the first modern Olympics were held in Athens, Greece, in 1896. The man responsible for its rebirth was a Frenchman named Baron Pierre de Coubertin. Today, the Olympic Games are the world's largest pageant of athletic skill and competitive spirit. The Games are held every four years in a different city and in 2012 London will be hosting the Games. London hosted the Olympic games previously in 1908 and 1948 and the upcoming games will make London the only city in the world to have hosted the Games three times. Moreover, London is really one unique type of city and they've got everything it needs for its people and its visitors: new work opportunities, new chances for business and people, excellent opportunity for shopping, opportunity to travel the great attractions found in this city, an unforgettable experience. London's Lord Mayor Boris Johnson wants to create a "party atmosphere" and wants the London 2012 Olympics to excel in a different way. There are plans to use the whole of the city to create a fantastic atmosphere. It is his intention that central London will be the place where people come to hang out and spend their money before they go to the various Olympic sites around London, thus creating a party and festival atmosphere. It is sure that the Olympics will bring a very nice atmosphere and will bring the multicultural people together. Thirdly, the city is preparing hard for the special event by paying attention and learning lessons from other cities which hosted Olympics recently. Ten billion pounds is being spent on hosting the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games which take place for just 17 and 12 days respectively. Accommodations for visitors are already arranged in the West End of London. There are around 100,000 hotel rooms currently available in the capital, together with an estimated 30,000 extra non-serviced rooms. This is more hotel accommodation than Athens or Sydney,
