The Lovely Bones was originally a book but then was later on made into a movie. It’s set in the 1970’s. It is about the murder of Susie Salmon. How the family and the people around them deal with her murder, it also shows how Susie deals with it. Throughout the book and movie there are some similarities and differences. In the movie Susie could only see Earth when she was in the gazebo, but in the book she could see Earth whenever she wanted to. When Susie dies and goes to heaven there is no Franny there is only Holly in the movie. In the movie Abigail comes back when Jack gets beat up with a bat instead of a heart attack. In both the book and the movie Harvey dies the same way. Between the book and the movie, the book was better. You
For instance, in the book Joppy knew Albright; Albright knew Todd Carter; Todd Carter knew Richard McGee as well as Matthew Terrell whereas in the movie every character denied knowing each other except Albright and Joppy. Another noticeable difference is that in the book Frank Green, Daphne’s brother ends up murdered and in the movie he lives and they both end up moving. The third noticeable difference is a character name change from the book to the movie; Matthew Teran in the book is Matthew Terrell in the movie and he ends up being murdered in the book whereas at the end of the movie he’s running for mayor. A fourth noticeable difference is the pier scene. In the book Albright and Easy meet at the Santa Monica pier and in the movie it is the Malibu pier. And the last most noticeable difference between the book and the movie is that Mouse knows Daphne Monet or shall we call her by her real name Ruby Hanks; however, in the movie the audience never finds that out. In the movie the only true thing you get to know about Daphne is that she is both black and white. Therefore, due to the many differences between the book and the movie it is confusing to the audience since it is almost like dealing with two different stories because of the plot inconsistencies.
Peter Jackson’s 2009 film, The Lovely Bones, is based off of the New York Times bestseller novel written by Alice Sebold. Both the book and the movie adaptation tell the story of a young, 14-year-old girl named Susie Salmon who is brutally murdered by her neighbor. In both versions, Susie narrates her story from the place between Heaven and Earth, the “in-between,” showing the lives of her family and friends and how each of their lives have changed since her murder. However, the film adaptation and the original novel differ in the sense of the main character focalization throughout, the graphic explanatory to visual extent, and the relationship between the mother and father.
The first difference that caught my eye was how there was no cat, in the book there was a cat named, Sammie, and Sammie always got stuck in one of Billy’s traps. But in the movie
There are a lot of similarities in the movie and the book. Now here are some differences. Flora wasn't in the movie, Angela was engaged to Ed plum rather than her being engaged to Denton Deere, Theo wasn't in the movie, but was
In “The Outsiders” it is a rollercoaster of emotions and relationships that twists into a crime scene pulling others in. “The Outsiders” by S.E. Hinton is about a boy who’s town is split into 2 gangs, the greasers and the Socs. His parents are dead. He lives with his older brothers. The boys commit a crime and hide from the police, but then something happens and they get hauled back to town and they become heros.
This story makes a great book and movie, they are the same and very different. I enjoyed both of them about the same. The book never bored me and the movie kept me on the edge of the seat. This article will tell you about the differences and similatities in the characters, relationships, and scenes.
There are many similarities and differences throughout the book and movie. One similarity was Mae hit the Man in the Yellow Suit in the back of the head with a gun. This was the part in the book where the Man in the Yellow
There are multiple difference between the book and the movie, from plot points to missing characters. I can start with uncle al
Here are some differences with the characters. Meg one of the main character's in the book has glasses and braces, but in the movie she doesn't have braces or glasses. Another main character is Charles-Walace and in the book he is five, doesn't go to school, and can't read, but in the movie he is six go's to school, and can read well. These are the differences
Director of the Lovely Bones,Peter Jackson successfully turned words on paper into a visual masterpiece. The Lovely Bones is a dramatic thriller that depicts the beautiful life and tragic murder of Susie Salmon. Through dualism along with specific blocking techniques and changing background noises,Peter Jackson portrays the fallacy that is feeling safe in the suburbs, the connection people have with their earthly possessions, and the falsehood that doing good things will lead to a good life. Suburbs are often described as the safest place on earth, but there in the safest place,Susie would meet her demise. No one would have ever suspected that a serial killer lived just a few doors down..
The Lovely Bones is a bone chilling film about a 14 year old girl, Susie Salmon, who was murdered by her creepy neighbour. Susie watches over her friends, family and her killer from a place called, “The In-between”, which is located between heaven and earth. She watches over them because she has unfinished work to do; kiss a boy from her school that she has a crush on, and to indicate to her family who her murderer is. From start to finish, this film is full of suspense, drama, heart pumping activity, love between a father and daughter, humour and the love between a teenage boy and a teenage girl. I personally enjoy watching films about murder so I believe there are more strengths and positive things about this film than weaknesses and
Though there are many differences, there are also many similarities, for example, how Jonas is selected as the next Receiver. In both the movie and the book, the community cannot see color, and jobs are selected for you. Other things that the movie and book also share include his friends, escaping the community, Jonas’s first memory, etc...
In the book the plot is set in the 1970s in a small town while the movie is based in more of a modern time. The book has a very believable and descriptive story that is more in depth than the plot of the movie. The movie left out a few things from the book but to compensate the movie added a few more things to the story line. In the story it progresses to the point in both the book and the movie where Carrie takes on her two main enemies in the book one she loves and one that she despises. She loves her mother but must kill her because her mother is coming at her with the intent to kill her. She hates both Chris and Tommy who both at the end try to kill her with Tommy’s car where they are met with their own death. However the depiction of the two deaths is different in the movie and the book where the movie it thoroughly describes Carrie slowly slowing her mother's heart down when in the movie it shows Carrie throwing a barrage of knives at her. The book and the movie deaths of Chris and Tommy are similar but in the book Carrie dies after killing Chris and Tommy compared to in
In both of these the story is almost exactly the same. Such as when the spirits take him they take him to the same place in both. The first spirit take him to the school in both the movie and book. The second spirit takes him to his nephew’s party in both. The third spirit takes him to the poor part of his town on both too. This proves the book and movie have lot of similarities.
They are most of the same characters but there are characters that were left out of the movie. In the book Hazel is friends with a girl named Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn and Hazel go to the mall and text, however in the movie there is no Kaitlyn. Also in the book, Augustus talks to Hazel about his old girlfriend that pased away. Caroline Mathers was Augstuses old girlfriend that died of cancer. In the movie they never mention Caroline Mathers or talk about her. Last of all, it says in the book that Hazel goes to Isaac's house and they play video games and his little brother is there. There is no part in the movie where Hazel is at Isaac's house and she meets his brother. This book has many simalities when it comes to the characters but you also have to notice that there are just as many
