Causes of French Revolution The French revolution of 1789-1799 was one of the major events in the world’s history. This revolution bought many changes in France. At the time of revolution, France was the most powerful state in Europe. Over the ten years period between 1789 and 1799 the French revolution was spread. The dispute over the people’s differing ideas of reform, was the primary cause of the revolution. After the death of King Louis XIV, his grandson Louis XV got kingship. He was not able for this designation and had no ability to govern the state. France engaged in war with other countries. In result of seven year war she has lost her empire. Financial crisis started in the country. Peasants were not in state to pay heavy taxes they were badly suffered. Louis XV was hooked up in sake of worldly pleasure. He had no interest in governing country. Even he was ready to discuss serious issues with minister. When minister tried to discuss with him Louis XV replied: “After me deluge”. The box of treasure was almost empty after the wars but the king remained same like before quite indifferent from the suffering of people. He could not take place of Louis XIV. There was another important factor during that period that was economic problems. Economic condition of France was very critical. During the time the government was facing the most serious problem. To pay for the wars of LOIUS XIV, French government borrowed much money, to keep French power alive in Europe Louis still borrowed money to fight wars. These costs greatly increased the national debt, which was, at the time, already too high. The system of taxation in France was an absolute unfair and unjust.
