Friendships are important to keep you going in life In Australia 1965 the Vietnamese war was going on and there was a lot of corruption in the country as people were going off to war. As Corrigan was described in the novel Jasper Jones by Craig Silvey it may seem like a city in which friendships are very hard to form. The author tells us how everyone in the town lies and how people didn’t trust each other a lot. There are two friendships that author focuses on; Jeffrey and Charlie, and Laura and Jasper. In the novel Craig describes how friends are important and how lives of these characters would be much different without these friendships.

In the novella “Of Mice and Men” by John Steinbeck, there are two guys named George and Lennie. They were friends for a very long time and stood by each other. Some people may argue that George was a bad friend to Lennie but I believe that he was a good friend. Friends aren’t perfect, they will mess up. Just because George messed up and made questionable actions towards Lennie, that doesn’t make him a bad friend. You will not find a friend that has never done wrong by you.

In the modern age friendship comes in many different shapes and sizes. There's the good and there's the bad. I know most of my friends for many, many years and throughout these years we had fights and good moments and this is what forms this strong “interpersonal bond” also known as friendship. In our novel Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet Henry and his friends faces different challenges throughout the story which strengthens their ties. In Jamie Ford’s novel Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, Ford communicates the theme that friendship is needed especially during difficult times through the character’s actions in the books.

The theme of friendship courses through Chaim Potok’s book, The Chosen. Potok desires to show the reader what a strong friendship looks like and how it stands up to the test of time. When two people know each other well and spend a lot of time together, there are bound to be misunderstandings, fights, and other trials. Yet God says in His word “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” (New American Standard Bible, Proverbs 27:17) Even when friendships are difficult, they can “sharpen” the people involved in the friendship, like in the case of Danny and Reuven. Danny and Reuven’s friendship lasts through Danny’s irrational behavior, Reuven’s outbursts of anger, and Reb Saunders’s absurd beliefs.

The true meaning of friendship can make a person think or do things for someone they never thought they would do. Friends is a hit television (tv) show, and has been since 1994 when it first came out. The television show follows the lives of six friends throughout the course of 10 years. Friends is a good tv show despite some people’s opinions. The show was at the top of the charts for the years that it ran, and even more after that. The theme song itself was number 1 for 8 weeks, and after that was still within the top numbers (Billboard Staff, 2015). Even though the show is aimed for a mature audience, it captures the qualities a hit tv show needs. Friends is a good tv show due to the fact that it is a comedy, includes lots of plot twists, and follows one basic storyline.

Friendship is mandatory to be able to trust and rely on one another. Hinton writes about troubles that Ponyboy goes through and how his friends have a great impact on these experiences. For example, Johnny killed Bob who was a member of the Socs, because he saw that Bob along with other Socs were trying to drown Ponyboy. He knew that he’d be in trouble, and he could have just left then and there. Instead, he killed Bob because they were hurting Ponyboy. Another situation where the author shows the theme of friendship is when Ponyboy got jumped and his whole gang came to help him. They were always ready to help a member of their group. Also, the situation when the church was on fire and Dally went to try and save Johnny, shows friendship as well. In chapter 6, Jerry, who Ponyboy thinks is one of the school’s teachers, says, “We think the towheaded kid is going to be all right. He burned one arm pretty badly, though, trying to drag the other kid out of the window,” (pg. 95). This tells us that Dally, who at first wouldn’t help the children in the church, helped Johnny get out because he was his friend and he cared about him. This shows how Dally demonstrates his friendship.

With this, a rare friendship vanishes, but the rest of the world - represented by Curley and Carlson, who watch George leaving his friend's dead body - fails to acknowledge it.
