"The Moon We Left Behind" is an article about the importance of the US space program, and why such a program shouldn't be cancelled. The US space program was cancelled in 2010 according to the article by president Obama inciting the need of Charles Krauthammer to write the article before it was cancelled. The article “The Moon We Left Behind” was written in July 17, 2009; a year before the space program was actually cancelled. Charles Krauthammer is a widely known author and an experienced veteran within the field of journalism since 1981. Today, the space program is not of great importance; but to Charles Krauthammer, the space program, as many do, saw the program as important. America needs to put the money from other programs, into the Space program. The statement presents the financial crisis and answers his own question that America has a financial crisis. Not only did he fail to present his information once again with logic, the statement itself is illogical due to fallacies. The financial situation of all humans does in fact hold importance to the space program and government funded programs in their own right. He describes that the Apollo program, and the Interstate highway system have had a profound effect on America’s consciousness. With the “Cause must mean effect” the Constellation program will also have the same effect. This is a hasty generalization , it ignores the actual importance of the two programs he listed. His use of logic in controversial topics are very flawed and riddled with fallacies. “Why do it?”, “The greatest example?”, even his last sentence “How could we?” they seem to pick up in a noticeable pace and only bring demise to his article. The constant use of “Begging the Question” make the article seem more and more illogical, and unreliable. A regular humans untrained eye can spot it, yet not know about it. The usage of fallacies makes the paper lose any logic it had left and lose any eye-catching trait it had
