She was an archduchess, and a Holy Roman Empress. Joseph ii was another important leader. He was also a Holy Roman Emperor who tried to strengthen the Habsburg empire with his enlightened reforms but his people opposed his changes very fiercely(biography). Austria had multiple big wars but one of the wars they fought in was the war of the Austrian succession. It began on August 16, 1740. Frederick ii of Prussia invaded Silesia, one of Habsburg’s richest provinces. His armies defeated the Austrians at Mollwitz in April 1441 and overran Silesia. This proved what the other European countries believed, that Silesia could not defend themselves. This ensured that the war would become general. Within a month, France had constructed an alliance with Bavaria and Spain and, later, with Saxony and Prussia against Austria. Maria Theresa derived her main support from Britain fearing that if France took Hegemony in Europe, the British colonial and commercial empire would be unsupportable(britannica). Austria declared independence by concluding the Austrian State Treaty with the Four Occupying Powers.
Culture
Austria has a very kind culture. They have nice holidays, they have a functioning government, and they have good food. Some major holidays in Austria are Three Kings day, Easter, All Saints Day, St. Nicholas day, and Christmas. Three King’s day is a celebration that most Christians celebrate but only a few German states and Austria.
While Ludwig van Beethoven and Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky have much in common, they also have many differences. Both men are famous for their orchestral compositions and their future influence on other composers. They experienced a blend of horrible failures and great successes. Although they were from different musical time periods, they both made huge contributions to the world of music.
Once Franz Ferdinand of Austria was assassinated, it gave the countries a reason to declare war on each other. Document A shows the alliances between European countries at the start of WWI in 1914. France, Britain, and Russia were an alliance. France and Britain were the most powerful out of imperialist Europe, so they made an alliance to combine that strength. Russia owned no colonies, so it would make sense they would want an alliance with what seemed like the strongest colony owners. Germany owned the third most colonies, but they were scared of Britain and France taking over (look at the analysis of Document D). Austria-Hungary was in a place similar to Russia in that they needed an alliance with a stronger country, Germany fit the type of alliance Austria-Hungary was looking for because Germany had a strong military and was already united to Austria-Hungary by common fear of Russia and Russia’s alliances. Germany allied with Austria-Hungary because they believed Russia wouldn’t wage war against two empires. This led Russia to ally with France and
The War of the Austria Success was a war that was between all the significant colonies in Europe. The battle was based on the Maria Theresa’s unqualified access to the House of Habsburg, her father Charles VI’s throne. This was because back in 500 AD a law was created. This law stated that no women would be able to attend the throne or inherit
Some of you may ask, “Why? Why choose Louis Armstrong out of every composer out there?” Well there 's a few reasons why I believe Louis Armstrong is one of the top composers and should be known. To understand where I am coming from, it is best to understand him and how he came to be what he is today and see how he achieved his greatness throughout his lifetime. Some are fast to judge him without even knowing a single piece of music he had created. Little do many of you know you have heard of his music’s before but did not know who compose it, basically paid little attention to it. One of his most famous song compose is “What A Wonderful World”. Many of you have heard it through classical movie, it was inserted in one of America 's favorite
One significant factor leading to the French revolution was the debt accumulated from previous wars, which led to the financial crisis. For France to prosper as a European state it had to compete the with other European nations. One of the first events to spark conflict between France and the other European states was the War of the Austrian Succession which came about following the death of the Holy Roman Emperor, Charles VI, in 1840. The lasting tension between the nations because of the loss of Silesia led to the Seven Years War which saw France and Britain on opposing sides in North America. Shortly after that France made the decision to participate in the American Revolution. At the end of these conflicts France had accumulated a significant amount of debt. It is estimated that in the time right before the French
Many people compare the musical works of Ludwig Van Beethoven and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart because of the styles of music that they produced. They were also similar because of their age and the music period in which they created in. Throughout their lives these two composers had vastly different customs and behaviors. Each composer contributed to their own unique styles of music, however they continue to be a musical inspiration in today’s world. Many people of the early classical music period reacted differently to both of the musician’s works because of the unique way they chose to create and present their music. These musician’s created a lasting effect on the musical world that we see today.
During the renaissance, Europe went through many changes politically, socially, and psychologically. Most of this change was due to the reformation of the church, and the humanist movement. The humanist movement focuses on revisiting Greek ideas, and the church supported these thinkers, artists, and musicians (Oxford). The church slowly became morphed with politics, to the point where the church was also the law. Different churches wanted to attract new patrons, so they tried to impress others through the use of art and music, and no longer just their words.
After the assassination, an ally to Austria, Kaiser Wilhelm and Francis Joseph, nephew to archduke Francis Ferdinand, call for retribution and reprisal against Serbia. Francis Joseph’s military chief of staff expressed concerns for Austria and other European allies in a statement saying “Austria-Hungary must draw the sword against Serbia…It is not a question of a knightly duel with ‘poor little’ Serbia, as she likes to call herself, not of punishment for the assassination. It is much more the highly practical importance of the prestige of a Great Power…The Monarchy has been seized by the throat, and has to choose between allowing itself to be strangled and making a last effort to prevent its destruction.” Alliances then served their function. Relying back on the Triple Alliance (Germany, Austria, and Italy), Germany and Kaiser Wilhelm begin to back Austria and her interest against Serbia. Serbia’s ally, Russia, is backed by the Triple Entente (Russia, France, and Great Britain). What could have been a small localized war where Serbian and Austrian forces battled for their cause turned into a global event on August 01, 1914 when Germany declared war on Russia. This served as a catalyst for further war to be declared forming the Central
Many composers have impacted music since the beginning of time. Out of all composers we have studied Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Brahms, and Armstrong all stand out to me. They have all contributed to the history of music in amazing ways. Out of those that stand out to me, I think Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, and Armstrong are the most influential composers. Each in their own way have affected the course of music and how it is composed and also appreciated.
The war to free Austria from Germany was aided by Prussia, but Prussia also acted on the conflict to try and unify Germany as well. Most of the fighting took place in Germany and Italy. In the end, Prussia won and Austria was its own nation, and Prussia gained new colonies. Since the war was so quick, it played out well for Prussia. It took
The increased revenue and cost savings of Maria Theresa and Haugwitz domestic reforms further served to strengthen the empire's army. Although it was peacetime, Maria Theresa saw the need to prepare an impending second war with Frederick II, as he sought to defend Prussia against Austria's newly formed alliance with France. In 1756 Frederick II once again declared war against Maria Theresa’s empire. His attack reached the pinnacle in the Seven Years War, during which Maria Theresa tried to reclaim Silesia. In 1762, when the Empress Elisabeth from Russia died, one of Austria’s greatest allies in the war, withdrew. It was now clear that the Habsburg Dynasty couldn’t win the war without its allies, in 1763 Maria Theresa and Frederick II agreed
