The sky got darker, or so it seemed, as I woke up on the heavily carpeted floor in a small room. It had no signs or buttons, and I could feel the rapid descent downward that pulled on my entire body; an elevator, perhaps? The room let out a familiar ring as the metal doors in front of me opened. It seemed inviting enough, but the fear of not knowing still got to me. Following that, I was bombarded with eternal questions. How did I get here? Where was I before this? I reluctantly walked out of the elevator and followed the only path I could. The hallway I traveled through was decorated elegantly. Gems and beautiful patterns filled each door and lit up the whole room in a wonderful manner. Maybe this place wasn’t as bad as I imagined it …show more content…
“I can’t say I have,” the old man mumbled. “Let me explain to you the situation that you have been placed in. I can’t tell you where this place is, but what I can tell you is that if you want to exit this place, you will have to play a game, and you will risk your life during said game,” explained the bartender. My face didn’t show it, but my heart pounded like crazy. I immediately ran back through the hallway towards the elevator. Yet, it didn’t open. I tried looking for other doors. They didn’t open either. I ran back to the bar, as mad as I could ever be, and yelled, “What if we don’t want to play the game?” out of sheer panic and shock. “I wouldn’t suggest that,” the bartender smirked at me. The bar behind him concaved and opened up a new room. Although dark, you could make out lifeless bodies hanging upside down. “What happens if we lose?” the old man inquired. “I’m sorry, but all I can say is that you will be risking your life in this game. Please press this button to determine your game.” The old man immediately pressed the button. I unwillingly accepted my fate. It’s like this bar’s job is to keep me stressed. How ironic. “The game you will be playing is pool. Please follow me,” announced the bartender as we headed into the pool room. “The goal of this game is to capture the 8 ball. Who wants to break?” Due to all the adrenaline in my body, I accepted his favor. Things couldn’t get worse than this,
How long was I out? You wondered. And where am I? You racked your brain for what had happened before you appeared in this strange cave. The only memory that didn’t seem hazy was of you climbing
I looked around. "Yeah, maybe." She threw out her cigarette and nodded to me before walking back into her room. I stood outside, just watching room five. *What the hell could be in there?* I leaned against the door, put my ear to it and I listened. It was silent for a short while, but I heard a muffled knock come from inside. I continued to listen. Another knock. Then another knock. And then, complete silence. I kept my ear at the door, just listening, waiting. Another knock, but this time, it was against the door. I jumped back, shocked by what had just happened. I knew there was somebody or something in there and the fact that I didn't know who or what it was, had me completely horrified. I just wanted to get far away from that motel.
My first reaction was to fight, and I sprinted, pain forgotten, over to the creature, my hands already in fists, a fierce look on my pale face.
I push the cracked oak wood tavern door open. Eyes sweep across the room falling on me. Wearing a dark hood and cloak concealing all but my piercing ice blue eyes and half of my nose. My wide chest, wiry arms, thick legs and my two swords also hidden away underneath my cloak. I’ve been growing my beard out, short cropped it isn’t much to deal with. The tavern is laid thick with the scents of; stale alcohol, fresh bread, and charred savory meat roasting on the spit in the center of the tavern. In the opposite corner of the tavern sits a table bathed in shadows with four armed individuals.
My heart drops into my stomach. I am plunging into the dark abyss below not knowing what waits for me at the bottom. I look up at the roof of the rusty old elevator to see the last rays of sunlight disappearing above me. I, along with eleven other people, am packed into the tight space like sardines in a can. As I plummet I can feel the hot summer air becoming more and more frigid, yet the heat of bodies surrounding me warms my skin. Clicking and whirring of the machine is all I hear yet it is almost deafening. The elevator comes to a sudden stop as my body lurches forward. While regaining my balance light once again appears. Large stadium lights are fighting to supply this massive cave with light. I step out into the large dome shaped cavern
My legs started to tingle as I pushed my self out of the chair. I feel alive as my eyes frantically scoop out the room. How do I get out of here, I must get out of here.
My eyes widened. I was faced with a choice. On one hand, I could go through, face the unknown, and might never be able to come back, or I could stay here and continue living my boring life. There was no choice. I stepped inside.
“AaAaah”! Lost in a maze… it’s nerve driving silence is maddening but, how did I get
Then SLAM! The door shuts. So many things are running through my head at once. But then I think the lock. Lock the door. My whole body is shaking with both fear and adrenaline. Finally the door is locked.
I was concerned where our rooms where because nothing I had seen outside gave any hint of what I thought a hotel would look like. We all waited until we were given keys to our rooms. Finally the word was given that we could go to our rooms and I waited to get my key last. Once I got mine, I walked through the door and tried to follow the signs that directed me towards my room. I became confused as to where I was because I soon found myself in what I took as nowhere. I was on the second story, and everywhere I looked there were great, square openings where it was possible to see the sky and the ground at the same time. Suddenly, I was afraid and embarrassed at being lost. It made me feel like a little kid. One of the other kids stumbled upon me and, realizing I didn't have a clue what was going on, helped me to my room.
“If I wanted to kill you, I would’ve already done so.” continued the strange voice. “I understand that you’re a detective, so you just might be able to figure it out. The first game is figuring out a way to get out of your room.”
“Anyone who survives a night in here deserves it” Adelaide said walking further up the tunnel. “I mean, who knows what could be down here”.
door. “Are you going down?” I looked at him and shook my head no, he raised his eyebrows and let his hand slide back inside with the doors closing soon after. I could breathe again. I went over and hit the down button for the elevator and waited again for it to come back up.
The lift shifted, and I began to feel woozy as it went down, down, down… It seemed to take ages until it finally stopped and the metal doors once again opened noisily. I put my hands out instinctively until the man with the strong hands put them back at my side and lead me down a narrow corridor. A door opened heavily, and from
eternity,I arrived at a mysterious and peculiar stairway. The staircase groaned as I walked on
