Compare and contrast essay The Outsiders is a great story about greasers and soc. The story has both a book and a movie about it. the Outsiders is a very good story. The greasers are the cool kids that live in the hood and most of them grease their hair a lot where jeans and a t-shirt with a leather jacket. They were tough and smoked cigarettes a lot. The socs were rich bratty kids that dressed fancy and drove nice muscle cars. The greasers do not like the socs and they fight a lot. Ponyboy is writing a story about the greasers life and what they have gone through. It is about how they have to deal with the socs and when Johnny kills one of the soc they run away. Ponyboy and Johnny go to an abandon church and it caught on fire with kids in
The Outsiders movie which was released on March 25, 1983, is a American drama film directed by Francis Ford Coppola .It is a crime thriller and is adapted from a novel of the same name by S.E. Hinton .The Film was shot on location in Tulsa, Oklahoma and set in 1965 .The story of this movie revolves around the conflict between the two different social groups ,which is the rich and the poor. It is a class versus class conflict which gives rise to a physical conflict between the Greasers and the Socs .I feel there are physical fights throughout the story between the two groups due to enculturation. The native culture that is transmitted from one generation to another among the Greasers is the reason for their limitations.
The book and the movie of the Outsiders are two very different stories. The book has so much more detail then the movie. The movie is not the most detailed but it does get its point across. There are may similarities and also many differences between the two the book is by far more interesting and more detailed then the movie. I enjoyed the book a lot and the movies a lot but the movie was missing a lot.

Throughout the entire book the two groups kept fighting and then something terrible happened that changed Ponyboy’s life forever. The movie and book have many differences
A comparison between both mediums for The Outsiders can be made by showing both of their advantages and disadvantages to show that one of them is better than the other.

My opinion on the movie I watched, “The Outsiders” is that it was okay. I found some parts boring. There were some parts that was trying to be as emotional as the book and they looked very fake. The director of the movie was Francis Ford Coppola. The author of the book was S.E. Hinton. The Year the movie was made was 1983. The movie was about two gangs. The Socs and the Greasers. Two Greasers (Johnny and Ponyboy). A group of Socs jump them and Johnny is forced to kill one to save his friend from drowning. Johnny and Ponyboy run from the law to a small town named Windrixville. They soon become heros.
The Outsiders is a young adult novel written by S.E. Hinton. The book was first published in 1967 by The Viking Press. Today, the book is published under Speak, an imprint of Penguin Group. The book has a total of a hundred and eighty pages. The Outsiders fits in the genre of young-adult fiction because it relates to teens on emotional levels. Like Ponyboy, the teen protagonist of the story, teens relate to his emotional growth as he tries to piece his life together. The story follows a rivalry in a socially divided community. The Greasers are a gang of teenage boys who live on the east side of town; the wrong side of town. Their rivals, the Socials, better known as the Socs; come from the wealthier side of town. The two groups are always head to head with one another, seeking a fight. Ponyboy belongs to the Greasers. He is the youngest out of the three brothers in his family. Apart from his brothers, Ponyboy hangs out with Johnny, Dallas, Two-Bit and others who are also Greasers. The rivalry between the two groups heightens when Johnny kills Bob, a Soc, in an attempt to save Ponyboy from drowning. In this book report, I will go through the meaning of this book and my opinion on the story itself.
“The Outsiders” is by far one of my favorite books of all time. I think it’s a great story that tells about how a fourteen-year-old boy overcomes many challenges and learns how to get through each of them individually. “The Outsiders” is a story about a boy named Ponyboy that lives with his two older brothers, and they have a group of friends, called the Greasers. One day Pony gets upset with his older brother, Darry, and goes to a park with his friend Johnny to calm down. At the park, a group of kids, called Socs, come and start drowning Pony. Johnny gets scared and doesn’t know what to do so he kills one of the Socs. Soon after, Pony and Johnny decide to run away so they wouldn’t have to deal with
The “OUTSIDERS”, a book and movie, portrays a small gang going through hard times. The Book and Movie may have the same plot but have small yet noticeable differences. Both stories take place around Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1965. These should be compared to show why sometimes movies get things wrong and why the book tends to be better, in this case they both stick to the plot with only a few missing or added details, such as the book is slower paced but has more detail, the movie misses or adds small details, and the movie destroys your thought of what characters look like.
The book, and the movie, “the Outsiders” is about a conflict between greasers and socs. Up until the point where Johnny kills a soc, there are mostly only small fights and arguments between the two. The story “the Outsiders” takes place in the 1960’s, when there were two main lifestyles. Greasers and Socs. Greasers are known for greasing their hair. Socs are rich kids who have good clothes, drive mustangs, and always have an argument against the greasers. The main character in S. E. Hinton’s book “the Outsiders” is Ponyboy Curtis. He has two older brothers Darry and Soda. Pony is 14 years old and his best friend, Johnny, is 16 years old. S. E. Hinton wrote “the Outsiders” when she was 17 years old. The Outsiders is a novel written by Susan Eloise Hinton, also known as S.E Hinton. The setting of the story takes place in the 1960s. The Outsiders is written in first person view, by Ponyboy Curtis. The story revolves around the greasers and Socs. The Socs are the west side rich kids, they wrecked houses and “threw beer blasts for kicks”. While the Greasers were the east side kids, they “drove old souped-up cars, held up gas stations and had gang fights once in a while.” One of the conflicts the characters face is man vs man, which is because the greasers and Socs don’t get along, this is because they feel superior to each other. They both had different ways of lives, they did different things for fun, and they did not understand each other. This conflict was later resolved towards the end of the story when Ponyboy speaks to Randy about no longer fighting after Bob’s death.

The two gangs have hated each other for the majority of their lives. When Johnny, Pony’s friend, kills the Soc named Bob, they turn to Dallas Winston, or Dally for short. In the end of the story Johnny passes away after saving children from the burning church.
This book showed the struggle between rich and poor. The two main groups of the story were the Socs and the greasers. The Socs are in the upper class while the greasers are the poor ones that dislike the Socs because they have more money, better cars, and act like they are better than the greasers. The Outsiders is a good story by S.E. Hinton that shows the struggles of growing up Hinton did a fine job with the character development, the plot, and the theme with a few flaws.
This story could have things that happen in real life and not just in a story. The outsiders story is mainly about gangs that have there differences with each other. The Greasers are the main characters in the story. The Greasers have the most differences with the Socs. The Outsiders movie has all of the main events that happen in the book, for example in chapter 4 of the book Johnny had
The Outsiders message is about “Nothing Gold Can Stay.” It explains that nothing good can go on forever and nothing young can last forever. It tells you about how and why we should enjoy what we have and keep and cherish everything we have to its maximum limit. Why shouldn’t we cherish what we have? Why do we need more? Why can't we be equally treated with same amount of things such as money and houses? That is the real question. We have that to this very day. In The Outsiders, their lives are exactly like this. They have their awesome rich people lives and the poor have unhappy lives. Some of each gang just want to be normal, the same, or similar at least. But their money splits them up. All because of a little extra
