The Outsiders Movie And Book Comparison

For instance, in the book Joppy knew Albright; Albright knew Todd Carter; Todd Carter knew Richard McGee as well as Matthew Terrell whereas in the movie every character denied knowing each other except Albright and Joppy. Another noticeable difference is that in the book Frank Green, Daphne’s brother ends up murdered and in the movie he lives and they both end up moving. The third noticeable difference is a character name change from the book to the movie; Matthew Teran in the book is Matthew Terrell in the movie and he ends up being murdered in the book whereas at the end of the movie he’s running for mayor. A fourth noticeable difference is the pier scene. In the book Albright and Easy meet at the Santa Monica pier and in the movie it is the Malibu pier. And the last most noticeable difference between the book and the movie is that Mouse knows Daphne Monet or shall we call her by her real name Ruby Hanks; however, in the movie the audience never finds that out. In the movie the only true thing you get to know about Daphne is that she is both black and white. Therefore, due to the many differences between the book and the movie it is confusing to the audience since it is almost like dealing with two different stories because of the plot inconsistencies.

Though these are just details these are some things that i noticed that were left in the novel and not brought into the movie. In the novel the ship was attacked multiple times by a squid were in the movie they only showed one attack. They also removed some fun from the novel too because the reader was allowed to figure the code out but in the movie Harry solved the code all by himself. Even the characters main story points were changed like how Beth was left conscious and only anxious when she set the bomb but in the novel she was unconcious not allowing them to change the time setting. But even though they had many differences they kept some parts similar like they both included the code, destruction of habitats, and forgetting completely about the bomb.

The book and the movie of the Outsiders are two very different stories. The book has so much more detail then the movie. The movie is not the most detailed but it does get its point across. There are may similarities and also many differences between the two the book is by far more interesting and more detailed then the movie. I enjoyed the book a lot and the movies a lot but the movie was missing a lot.

When the socs and the greasers are going to have the big rumble in the book Darry asks if anyone wants to fight him but in the movie the person that he fight in both the book and movie says he will fight him. After the big rumble Dally and Ponyboy go to see Johnny who is almost dead and after he dies Ponyboy freaks out in the book and thinks he's not dead but in the movie it is only Dally. In the book Dally goes and robs a grocery store but in the movie he robs the gas station. When Dally leaves in the movie the guy shoots Dally and injures him but in the book he never had a gun. When Dally is shot by the police he is shot at the park in the movie but in the book he is shot in the street under the lamppost. There is so much more differences in the movie but it would be impossible to say them all so that is all of the differences i found from the book and

The book and movie are completely different. It 's like comparing apples and oranges. (I 'm assuming that you used the newest version with Guy Pierce). The biggest difference is probably the ommision of Haydee and Maximillien and Valentine (three of the main character) and the addition of Jacapo. Jacapo does is in the book, but he is never a large character.

The main difference between the novel and the movie is that in the novel you are introduced to more characters and there involvement in the story is explained. The movie doesn't really introduce u as well as the novel does and this makes it harder to follow what is going on in the movie version. It is harder in a movie to introduce a character but it seemed that it was poorly don in "The Pelican Brief" movie version. I can understand why its easer for a novel to describe how and what they what you to know about a particular character. Now in a movie it's your own perception that you make of a character.

To begin, the first difference I observed between the book and movie is that the movie has a different opening scene than the book. The movie starts out with Ponyboy writing in a composition notebook on a page titled “The Outsiders.” In the book the beginning scene is Pony boy walking

The book and the film were both simular, and yet different in many ways. An example would be, in the film, Ponyboy was walking to the drive-in and meeting Cherri and Marcia. Although in the book, Ponyboy began his journey by telling the readers about his experience about being jumped by the Socs and being threatened. The director probably had some options to pick from to leave out from the movie, and the director chosed this to leave out. Leaving out the part where Ponyboy was jumped was an effective move because without the experience Ponyboy was lost and helpless because he did not know what to do when he and Johnny got cornered in the park by Bob and other Socs.

The novel of The Outsiders is better than the movie. The novel gives more vivid details than the movie does. Even though the movie shows actual image, the novel lets you have your own image of what’s going on. The movie did not show the part where Ponyboy was getting jump. That is where most of the conflicts started. It also didn’t show the part where they were at the court, which is a really important part in The Outsiders. The feeling and tension are more intense in the novel than it is in the movie. Over all, the movie is not better than the novel.

The novel and the movie share many similarities.The book and the novel share the same problems. A example johnny and pony run away since johnny killed bob.In both johnny gets injured badly and dies.

Differences (stick with at least four)- Ponyboy has a good relationship with sodapop and gets along better with darry but still has a very good relationship with his brother. In the beginning of the book, Pony gets jumped by some Socs, but he doesn’t get cut with a knife. In the movie, they cut him. In the movie when ponyboy is talking to cherry he says how the sun on the south side and she says”good how bout the north.” In the book it's written west and east. Also in the movie johnny never got his first beating from the soc in the book he does. In the book it gave more detail and information in the movie it starts like in mid way of the book.

“The Outsiders” is by far one of my favorite books of all time. I think it’s a great story that tells about how a fourteen-year-old boy overcomes many challenges and learns how to get through each of them individually. “The Outsiders” is a story about a boy named Ponyboy that lives with his two older brothers, and they have a group of friends, called the Greasers. One day Pony gets upset with his older brother, Darry, and goes to a park with his friend Johnny to calm down. At the park, a group of kids, called Socs, come and start drowning Pony. Johnny gets scared and doesn’t know what to do so he kills one of the Socs. Soon after, Pony and Johnny decide to run away so they wouldn’t have to deal with

The movie is fairly similar to the book except for a few exceptions. One of the main things is that the movie is less detailed and is faster paced. Another thing is that pony never went to the hospital after the fire and didn't have a concussion. When Dallas was driving to the hospital with Pony and he got pulled over by the police who was on a motorcycle. While At the hospital Johnny’s mom comes to visit him but Pony and Dallas don't talk to her. When Dally leaves he goes and robs a store and the police are after him. Then when the police catch him he raises his unloaded handgun and the police shoot him. He gets shot once and does a few rolls stands up and gets shot more. The gang goes home after finding Dally and Ponyboy starts writing the “Outsiders”.

The book is different from the movie because the book overall as more parts and better descriptions. In the beginning of the book it shows Pony coming out of the movie house and walking on the sidewalk as he gets jumped(Hinton). Also in the book when Pony and Johnny were searching for the church Pony talks to the farmer about where Jay Mountain is and lies to the farmer saying the church was the “army headquarters”(Hinton). In the book when Johnny is in the hospital it says that he is on his back. The last thing different in the book is in the end where Pony’s school teacher tells him to write a paper, and the movie ends with him writing the story.

By that statement I mean that since they don't know what the greasers or socs look like they can use their imagination and take the details that the book gives them and imagine what they think that the characters look like. They can infer that Darry has big muscles, Soda is a pretty boy, and Two-Bit is young and childish. The down point on this reason is that people can struggle with using their imagination as well as with reading, for that reason i would recommend the movie. For an example it talks about how Bob had a nice blue mustang and big rings, the person reading csn imagine how they think Bob's car and rings would look like.
