We were dispatched to a pawn shop at 123 Main Street owned by Mr. Patty McRob. A female customer named Jessica was upset with a television set that she was sold on the previous Friday. Patty had a sign up in his store saying no refunds, well Jessica said Patty told her if it was not working and she returned it by Monday she could get refunded. Jessica paid fifty dollars for the television set. Patty wanted Jessica out of his store. I wrote down in my notebook that it was a business. Since it was a business we were able to walk in. O’Garo knocked on the door and was about to wait, but I told him it was a business and we could enter. I also wrote down the address of the pawn shop, as well as the owner and a woman named Jessica who refused …show more content…
I also liked my body posture when talking to Jessica. She was a struggling mother of two and I made my body posture more approachable and not so much authoritarian. I do not think I would have gotten as much information off her if I came across authoritarian. What I would do differently after viewing the DVD is I would have used my body to direct her more. I thought we took a little too much time to separate the two individuals and I take that on myself for not just stepping in directly in front of her and moving her to where I wanted to go. After the actors’ input I would keep my demeanour the same. The woman who played Jessica told me my demeanour kept her calm because I was calm she could not get angry and had no choice but to calm down. What I would change is we should have used the law to our advantage. The individuals would have been easier to separate if I told her she could get a trespassing charge if she did not leave. If we had more time in the problem solving portion we could have told them if they did not reach an agreement they would have to go to civil court. What I learned about intervening with another person’s crisis is you truly never know what is going behind the scenes in their personal lives. Everyone has different problems, and everyone has different ways with coping with them. How I thought how most people would deal with a problem like that is either just accept the fifty dollars lost because you

I was outside of Ernie's Lunchroom when I heard gunshots. I ran inside and found the lunchroom deserted except for a dead man on the newly mopped floor. There were three sets of footprints on the floor, that I labeled X,Y and Z. The cash register had just been rung up for $8.75. We recovered four checks for customers A,B,C and D. Customer A had $2.45 on his check, $3 on B's, $2.10 on C's and $3.65 on D's Check. Customers B,C, and D had finished their food. Customer A's food was untouched. Ernie, the owner and only worker, was able to present us with one fact. The shooter leaned against the wall and shot him at point-blank range.

The cashier stated that the couple did not answer the question, and they asked if they could have change for a $10. Robert then told the cashier to take all of the money out of the cash register. He pulled out a water bottle filled with gasoline and a lighter. He told the woman that if she did not give him the money, then he would light her on fire.

Have you ever been dealt a dilemma were you knew that someone needed your help but you were also aware that you where not the individual with the capability of helping. This was the situation with my friend Dan; he and I went to high school together and were good friends. After graduation Dan went on to obtain a dual degree in mathematics and physics from Cal Berkeley, and was on the first U.S. table tennis team to go to china in the early 1970's. I remember being so proud of him, and knew without any doubt that he would live a very successful life. However Dan began to hear voices, gradually deteriorated, and ended up living in his parent's garage. Here are two people in their 80's trying to live
The outlet mall was about half an hour to an hour drive from where we stayed. I thought that it was interesting that you would rather have Marcy listen to you as opposed to the psychiatrist. I agree with you that Marcy did some exceptional non verbal skills while communicating with her husband. I guess I viewed the psychiatrist as intensively listening to what the patient had to say instead of being rude because he never looked up. Sometimes in those situations they need to be writing down or viewing background information in order to make sure next session is successful. I think nonverbal goes along way but at the same time, sometimes non verbal isn't enough to ensure that the person is truly listening to what you have to say. I also think it is hard to compare these to clips because there are in completely different
In my neighborhood, the components of the fringe economy I see are pawnshops and the Cash Express (ACE). Whenever I see them, it reminds of the book “short change”. Also what flashes in my mind is the nature of the business and what the negative and positive effects of the business. I feel like standing at the front of the store and talking to the victimized customers about this particular book I read, and giving them a piece of advice that will aid them based on the knowledge this book has impacted in me with.
Recently, a case of tea and a Keurig, were the topic of discussion. A clerk received an order to destroy the tea and dispose of it, she had the terminal manager sign off on it and claimed to put it in the dumpster. Both managers later became aware that the tea had disappeared and was not in the dumpster. The next day, an order came in to dispose of a Keurig that was being held. When the same clerk saw the order, she asked where it was. She was told it had already been put in the dumpster and immediately went to check it. She returned and stated that it wasn’t in there. One of the managers, suspecting that she was looking to take it and had taken the tea the previous day, replied “yes, it is…right next to the tea”. In actuality, the Keurig had been used to replace the
