Immigration Reform Should Not Be Allowed
In 2014 there were 24,000 children arrested at the border for trying to enter America illegally("More Children and Teens Crossing into U.S. Unaccompanied." Newsela. ). This shows that more and more people are trying to enter the United States after the immigration reform bill was proposed. The Immigration Reform is supposed to slow down illegal resettlement while broadening the circumstances in which immigrants can come into our country. Obviously this is not the case because before the reform was proposed there was a count of only 13,000 immigrants coming illegally. The immigration reform should not be passed because obviously we have some things we need to straighten out. The immigration reform
They could do the right thing now by passing a bill called the Bridge Act. It stands for Bar Removal of Individuals who Dream and Grow our Economy. Its chief sponsors are Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin, a Democrat, and South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, a Republican. It would extend protections to the dreamers now eligible for DACA through 2020, once again buying time to negotiate a comprehensive immigration reform
Oh really?? Please tell me how an undocumented immigrant can acquire this free health care. Last time I checked, you need a special number called a social security number which undocumented immigrants dont have (hence the word UNDOCUMENTED)! How could you be so ignorant? Although I do agree it is an embarrassment that veterans dont get the health care they deserve, undocumented immigrants have nothing to do with that!! How can they take advantage of the system if they live in the shadows? If anyone is taking advantage of the free healthcare, it would be the AMERICAN CITZENS that drive up to the medicaid offices in a BRAND NEW LEXUS (and yes I have seen this happen). How the hell can you afford a LEXUS and at the same time qualify for Medicaid??
No one wants to leave their country, but war, famine, and employment can cause people to migrate to find a peaceful place to stay. More than a million undocumented immigrants migrate to America every year searching for jobs and safe places for their families to stay, Because of this, every undocumented immigrant in America should be granted citizenship. The U.S government should allow the immigrants who are here illegally to become U.S citizens. Many of the undocumented immigrants do their best to assimilate, pay their taxes, and contribute to American traditions and culture. Their contributions to our country have done so much for the people, we should be honored to have them.
With the greatly disproportionate number of unauthorized Latino immigrants (Appendix 1, Table 2), research shows that many Americans perceived Latinos as “Illegals” and “Criminals” (Perez 2010, Masouka, Junn p.167). This concept of Latinos affects the way the unauthorized immigrant population is treated, not only in the community, but in Congress as well. The portrayal of unauthorized immigrants as criminals allows politicians to prey on the fears of many honest and hardworking Americans.
Immigration is a hot button topic today and so many people have different opinions about it, but who oversees its laws? Our government is split into three main branches, Legislative, Executive and Judicial. Every branch contributes in a different way to have a law in action. The Legislative branch, which contributes to the first step of making any law, consists of the house of representatives and the senate, which together form the United States Congress which have the supreme authority to enact legislation, the privilege to confirm or reject many presidential appointments, and massive investigative powers (“The Legislative Branch”, 2017). The Executive branch, contributes to enforcing the laws and it mainly involves the President of the United States, who also acts as head of state and commander-in-chief of the armed forces. The President is responsible for implementing and enforcing the laws written by Congress and, to that end, appoints the heads of the federal agencies, including the Cabinet (“The Executive Branch”, 2017). The Judicial branch, puts the final touches on the law and polishes it. It consists of the United States Supreme Court and lower federal courts. The Supreme Court's primary function is to hear cases that challenge the constitutionality of legislation or require interpretation of that legislation ("The Judicial Branch", 2017). Immigration laws are made within the Legislative branch, carried out by the Executive branch, and evaluated by the Judicial
Over the years immigration has been a heavily debated topic, as policymakers consider U.S. labor demands and border security concerns. Immigration reform has escaped Congress for years, moving decisions into the executive and judicial branches of government and pushing the debate into state and municipal governments. Meanwhile the fates of the approximate ten million illegal immigrants in the U.S., as well as future rules for legal migration are undecided. (Cfr.com) President Barack Obama must be the most well-known player in immigration as of right now. Barack Obama won over Latinos in 2008 with a promise to have a complete reform on immigration in his first year in office. Latinos, were disappointed after Obama not only failed to push for an
comprehensive immigration reform could bring to this country, to the native- born and immigrants workers as well. Also, he makes emphasis in how the number of undocumented immigrants has increased since 1990’s; therefore, the economy of United States has dramatically increased.
Immigration and naturalization seem to be a relentless ever present concern of the American government. The immigration of different European, Jewish, Asian, and Hispanic groups during different eras of American history have continuously raised interest in how the government should balance America’s reputation for being a welcoming place where anyone can succeed, without sacrificing the economy. One group which was especially targeted and discriminated against by the legal system throughout American history was Asian immigrants. This is evident in naturalization laws, and the results of Supreme Court cases petitioned by predominantly Chinese as well as other Asian groups such as Japanese and Hindus.
Furthermore, your immigration reform plan has far too many flaws and it is absurd. It is incredibly cruel to want to end birth right citizenships, require that Americans get jobs over immigrants, and enhance penalties for overstaying a visa. This country has always been a land of immigration, and suddenly deciding to deny foreigners’ rights is immoral and uncalled for. We have economic and religious freedoms, the freedom of speech, and the right of suffrage. With your reform plan, freedom will cease to exist. This is exactly the opposite of what our founding fathers would have wanted. Racism continues to be a rampant problem in America, and your proposals will only further the issues we have.
Although, the immigration reform needs to be changed, America must not loose track that this nation was once founded by immigrants. Of course, the government must find a way to tighten security at every border, but not all immigrants come to our country to cause problems. This great country is still the land of opportunity, and doors are open too whom ever chooses to walk through them. On top of that, some immigrants are forced to migrate to the U.S. For instance, thousands of Syrians come to the West to get away from the scrutiny that their country is suffering from. They find themselves in a middle of a war, and having to deal with a group of terrorist called "ISIS". This is a terrorist group that has no regard for life, and inflicts terror
Immigration Reform is a serious and current issue in politics, in government, and in the lives of millions of people. Immigration reform is a term used by the American government and in politics. It refers to the changes to the current immigration policies in the United States. “Reform” is defined as a “change into an improved form or condition, by amending faults or abuses.” So, in a nutshell, Immigration Reform means the improvement of the law regarding how we, the United States, handle immigration. The only reason a country may revise its immigration policy/policies, is if it is having troubles such as illegal immigration. In the United States today, our government is having such troubles – illegal immigration. The statistic on illegal
Immigration Reform At this time, the United States has allowed more immigrants to enter the country than at any time in its history. Over a million legal and illegal immigrants take up residence in the United States each year. Immigration at its current magnitude is not fulfilling the interests or demands of this country.
There are not many people who know that there is war going on within America. A war, that is capable of impacting the future of America. Millions of “Dreamers” are fighting to be recognized as American citizens. In recent months and years, the debate on immigration reform has been heated and often uninformed. Every president mentions in his speech to take action on immigration reform. But unfortunately he ends up taking action against immigrants by deporting them. Is the country founded by immigrants has closed doors for the immigrants? People are fighting for the immigration reform. In order for the bright future of America we need to fix the present problems. A land of opportunity has taken many hits but the immigration reform made us think about our legal system. It is essential to understand that “immigration reform” is not a cup of tea. The question many are asking is that how can we accept millions of people into our labor force? We are already struggling from unemployment rate, which is peaking high. In this paper I will be primarily focusing on the role of immigrants on our economy, businesses and society, and how it impacts our society.
Illegal immigration is a major problem which most of the developed countries face in the current economy, and it has been major political problem for the political parties in America (republicans and democrats) and over years each party has a different agenda to discuss the problem. Illegal immigration can be defined as a movement of people from a source country to the destination country without any legal documents and violates destination countries immigration laws. People have moved across lands over years to escape a war situation or to get better facilities in a different country. Countries have defined immigration laws to restrict people to enter their land without proper documentation as illegal immigration social and time
Now in days there is a lot of terrifying stuff seen every day. Starting from accidents, tourism attacks, and shootings. My focus is Hispanic immigration and borders. There's probably not one day that there's not something being said about immigration. It is a topic that is very controversial and many people disagree or agree on it. Immigration is when people go to live permanently in a foreign country. Lots of people don't really realize the reasons in which hispanics move to a foreign country. Hispanics leave to accomplish their American dream for themselves and their family.
