Frederick J Kelly, man who invented standardized test, once said “ these test are to cruel to be used and should be abandoned” People assume that standardized testing is a good way of comparing the performance levels of various students from different schools and locations. Without standardized testing, this will not be possible. What people often do not know is that standardized testing is an unreliable way of measuring the performance of a student. Although most schools make students take standardized tests, it does not measure the knowledge of a student. Specifically standardized testing is any form of test that requires all test takers to answer a specific set of questions . Some reasons that show why standardized testing is not a reliable way of measuring one’s performance is because, taking standardized tests only evaluates the proficiency of a student only during the time of testing. Students only prepare for these exams when the date of examination is drawing near. According to eCampusTours, “Standardized testing impedes the assessment of a very important skill. For the most part, standardized tests hinder any sort of creative out-of-the-box thinking, which is a skill needed in college and in the workplace.” This just shows that standardized testing is undependable since it creates an atmosphere of dullness, because students already know what to expect in the standardized exams.
