#Q process I believe that the #Q process is a really helpful tool to use when analyzing a text, because it assist you in narrowing down the principal idea that the author wants us to see, in other words it simplifies the text. For example we used this process with the song of India Arie last Wednesday, we identified the “quotes” which can refer to actual quotes or ideas that have similar content within the text, then we “connected the ideas” so that by the end, when we “squeeze” them they will make more sense, and can make us see the “message” or “meaning” more easily. We apply this too when comparing two text and finding what connects them, we use the “Quote “step of the #Q process ,. For instance we take a “quote” from the text of “Identity”
Primarily, one technique is to use words as symbols. Elie Wiesel does this many times in his memoir, Night. Coincidently his choice of his title is one example of using words as symbols. “God’s first act is to create light and dispel this darkness. Darkness and night therefore symbolize a world without God’s presence.” - (Sparknotes.com)
Responses (interact with the text through analysis, predictions, evaluation, and connections, but don’t just summarize)
one, the interior is mainly solid stone with only a small portion of the overall mass being rooms. This design would make using the pyramids as grain depositories highly unlikely. Its shape isn’t contusive to being used as a granary and we know that the Egyptians had actual granaries, they were bee hive shaped buildings found within Egyptian cities. Furthermore, funerary texts have been found on the inside walls of several pyramids. These texts are often called the Pyramid Texts, and they give instructions to the pharaoh on his journey through the afterlife. Documents that have survived until today refer to the pyramids as the tombs of the pharaohs. For example, in the Harper’s Song of Antef (probably from around the 1st Intermediate Period),
In chapter five, “When in Doubt, It’s from Shakespeare” talks about the reappearance of different well known figures in literature. Foster follows this by giving an idea that literature is made based on other literary stories. He states that one of the reasons why story borrowing occurs is because there is only one story and it’s the human experience. Book critics usually refer to the literary works and texts as ‘intertextually’. According to the author, intertextuality is sometimes used to challenge a reader. If the person reading the story can point out the similarities or repetitiveness in the text then the meaning will easily be revealed to them. In conclusion, being able to identify different meaning of literary text and analyze it gives
Finding literary elements in a novel is easy from most people. It shows that authors are not always about just writing but they put in the studies of english. It helps make their book really well, which will make people who read it point out more of the literary elements. In the time of the Butterflies, it states “That first day was the hardest. I was crazy grief, all right. When Dede and Tono walked me into the house, all I wanted to do was like down and die. I could hear the babies crying farr off and voices calming the and Norris sobbing along with her aunt Mate, and all their grief pulled me back from mine. But first, I slept for a long time, days it seemed. When I woke up dedes voice was in my ear, in volking the lord's name. And on the third day He rose again…”(200). In this quote it shows how she is comparing how Jesus rose and came alive again. Which she felt like she was dead, and she was rising again. This is a part of figurative language because it is comparing her and Jesus. Julia Alvarez has used short sentence for the kind of sentence structure. She wrote in something so short such as “And the third day he rose again.” This shows imagery because I can and someone reading this can imagine how she was feeling and maybe how jesus rose from the dead. Diction is a part of many novels. In the quote it shows diction because you can tell how the way Julia Alvarez wrote the book. The way that Julia alvarez stated the quote above shows diction and the way the character is feeling. In the novel it states, “And that's how I got free. I don't mean just going to sleepaway school on a train with a trunkful of new things. I mean in my head after I got to Inmaculada and met Sinita and saw what happened to Lina and realized that I'd just left a small cage to go into a bigger one, the size of the whole country. .” this shows how she was comparing the cage to Dominican Republic. As they do not

By recognizing patterns you can understand a text much easier. If you connect the information of a story and it still doesn’t make sense, look to find a pattern. A pattern would be when a main character is sad and it is raining. Then you would compare that pattern to a different story and it would help you better understand what is going on.
For instance in paragraph 18 it states, “Push it. Examine all things intensely and relentlessly.” Another example of this is when the author states, “Write about winter in the summer.” (Paragraph 4) The use of short and concise sentences gives a sense that what the author is advising can be achieved with ease. Furthermore, the setences are straight forward and not long, so the reader knows exactly what the author wants them to do. In addition to that, the use of action verbs entices readers to follow the advice because the exact action that is needed has been stated by the author. If one knows exactly what they are supposed to do, they are more likely to do it which is what this author has done here. Finally, the use of literary devices contributes to the tone because metaphors are made which give a better understanding to the reader of what the author is asking of them.
