In William Shakespeare’s classic tragedy Romeo and Juliet, prince Escalus declares that “some shall be pardoned, and some punished” after the tragic suicide of Romeo and Juliet certainly punishment is deserved to some of those involved such as, friar Lawrence for his involvement in the plot to marry Romeo and Juliet illegally, the nurse for withholding information regarding the marriage of Romeo and Juliet. There are also people who were involved in the suicide who should be pardoned like Balthasar because he was only bringing the news he thought was true. Even though he was not on the stage for most of the play he greatly contributed to the tragedy that would soon happen at the end of the play. There was basically three major parts that lead to the death of Romeo and Juliet, which Friar Lawrence was involved in all of them. She kept a lot of secrets that she should have told someone about. An example is Romeo and Juliet’s wedding. She knew about it and knew all about their secret relationship. Last, she never noticed any of Juliet’s warning signs. She was Juliet’s main caretaker and was always around her.
