Of course they would give the patient an epi pen before even considering looking their information up to try and stop the reaction but if the patient is unstable they may not be able to tell the nurse what they are allergic to. When they scan the patient’s hospital band their health profile with all their information is pulled up. The nurse can then tell what the patient is allergic to, what medications have been administered, and previous medical history. This can all help in the way they take care of the patient and how efficiently and timely they can obtain all this information.
