The telegram was used back in 1837 and was invented by Samuel Morse. Samuel Morse was a man who was an American artist but in his middle age he invented the telegraph. The telegraph was the best thing that was invented at the time, but here are some things about the telegraph that I can tell you.
How was the telegraph used? The telegraph was used to contact people it was faster than riding a horse that would take days just to tell people about news and what is happening where they living. When they were using the telegraph, they needed a name for the language they were sending it and they started calling it Morse code. The more letters you used you had to pay it.

Morse Code has been in use for 160 years, the longest of any encoding system ever used. The telegraph, the invention that required the creation of Morse Code, was developed in the 1830’s and the 1840’s by Samuel Morse and Alfred Vail. This revolutionized long distance communication. Morse then developed a code, Morse Code, that allowed messages to be sent using the telegraph. This was a turning point in the war was to be fought. Now individuals hundreds of miles away could make key decisions in battle such as, where to push men, if reinforcements are needed, or if retreat was necessary. The telegraph and Morse Code completely changed the way war was fought and the elements it set out are still present today.
The telegraph quickly became popular between people that wanted to send messages over long distances easier and faster than ever before. Soon enough scientists realized the ease of constructing an electrical telegraph, this led to two working systems one created by William Cooke from England and the other one by Samuel Morse from the United States. When the telegraph became known it made it much easier send messages the message would be sent instantly.Many used the telegraph like the military,business owners,journalists and reporters,and just any people.Then after that they started this thing called morse code which meant like certain amounts of clicks and beeps which is good because the morse code is still used today.Also it was an inventor named Granville woods he created the multiplex telegraph which you could use on trains to run a schedule to avoid collisions with other trains.Then later after that the telephone was invented it allowed instant communication through speech it helped the deaf.Then later on in 1877 it had the first telephone line and company it was called the Bell Telephone Company.
The inventor that I chose for this project is Samuel Morse, born April 27, 1791, who invented the electric telegraph in 1835 with the help and inspirations of others such as Alfred Vail.

After translating your letter into Morse Code, it was traced onto a blank piece of paper with black ink and was written in english. When Samuel Morse made a device that change the history of communications, he needed a coding system that will sent out message because the telegraph only gives a dot or a long line.
