In the book Frankenstein, Victor Frankenstein was a scientist who made a scientific discovery that resulted to his own destruction. He ended up creating a monster to which he failed to give love and support it expected. The monster was lonely and sad which led him to seek revenge from Victor and eventually be the reason of his death. The revenge by the monster was a just punishment for Victor’s actions because he attempted to give life to the dead which was completely against the law of nature and the outcome of anything against God’s will would ultimately be the nemesis of the one who created it.

Shelley created a thought-provoking storyline through the eyes of scientist Victor Frankenstein. Written in the 19th century, Shelley’s book became a memorizing read, unheard of from women. In her world-known novel Frankenstein, the scientist fulfills his goals of giving life to a spirit-less body, playing God. With this accomplishment, he kick-starts a gothic and bloody journey and is forced protect his family and friends by attempting to end the life of his creation. Shelley opens up the reader’s eyes to see what they truly are: human. Her purpose is to reveal the dark workings inside the human mind. She uses a new writing style, simple but strong tone, powerful themes and relationships to bring awareness to some of the common, disturbing and affectionate characteristics that make humans who they are.

The novel Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, is a story about how important having a family is to some, but also judging someone based on their appearance. Victor Frankenstein starts the novel by describing his childhood with his loving and supportive family. Family is very important to him because he did not have many friends growing up. While Frankenstein is away at school he starts to become very depressed and you see his attitude towards his family and his life change. Being away at school, he creates a “monster” by using different pieces of corpses and that becomes the only thing that matters to him until he sees how hideous it is. He immediately hates his creation just because of how he looks. Frankenstein begins to abandon everyone and thing in his life because of his obsession with the idea of glory and science, causing the novel to go from Romanticism to Gothic. The “monster” finds a family living in a cottage, by watching all winter he learns how a family should love and accept others. By seeing this, Frankenstein’s creations understand what was taken from him, and will do whatever he has to do to have a family of his own.
