a.(A woman who loves to fly is seated on an airplane next to an elderly gentleman who is flying for the first time and is shaken by fear)
“You don’t understand my situation.”
The woman smiled kindly to the gentleman next to her.
“Oh, I’m sure I do sir. There is no reason to be afraid.”
The pour soul, the woman thought sweetly. He looks so old, maybe it is not such a good idea for him to fly.
“No” the man said angrily “You cannot possibly understand.”
“Than perhaps you might inform me.”
The man turned away from her. She could hear him muttering under his breath, “People. Always thinking that an old man has outlived his problems. If only I was so lucky.”
The woman did not like being spoken to in such a manor. After all, she was only trying to help. Was that such a crime?
The plane began to roll away from the gate and the man began to shake.
“No, no, no” he sobbed, “It is going to be exactly like last time.”
The lady shot him a glance but said nothing. She was still a bit wounded.
Suddenly the man turned towards her. “If we don’t make it. I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.”
He stood up and yelled, “I’m so sorry! I hope that you will all forgive me”
The woman quickly put a hand on his shoulder and made him sit back down. Passengers craned their necks to see who had just spoken, when the captain came over the intercom.
“This is your captain speaking. We are third in line for take off. Fasten your seat belts and enjoy your flight.”
The gentleman cowered in his seat. The lady sighed.

“He’s old,” she told Edwin. “He doesn’t exist.” She felt less akin to him than to a bird or toad.
“It made him feel a little uncomfortable sometimes when he reflected that the good little boys always died. He loved to live, you
There are many important accomlisments that have happened over the last 100 years such as Neil Armstrong landing on the Moon, Jonas Salk creating the Polio Vaccine etc. I believe one of the more overlooked accomplishments the last 100 years is Charles Lindbergh flying the first nonstop flight from New York to Paris in 1927. Lindbergh was in the air for about 33 hours. This tells you how transportation had evolved from the last 20 years prior with Wilbur and Orville Wright flying the first plane in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. John Ward wrote a great piece on the impact of Charles Lindbergh Flight in 1927.
“You have to face it; she's gone. I know it’s hard, but please come with me” Caroline said.
From his pilot seat , Lt. Donald Kilpatrick, turned and asked the navigator if the plane was on fire. Once he received the response to his question, Lt. Kilpatrick gave his last order to the crew…“Bail Out”.

With the world going into complete shutdown lasting a total of four extensive years where numerous innovations were needed to progress in overcoming the opposition. Planes were developed recently and has made a huge contribution to the first world war by being used as a reconnaissance, transportation and air support as a weapon. With the integration of planes WWI has become a different type of battleground with planes involved since there has never been such a war of this caliber with any type of air unit to this extent. Previous usage was only hot air balloons or zeppelins that were very easy targets and could get annihilated in quick succession. The comparison from
"Oh my god-- what happened? Miss?" the man said, standing up and coming closer to her.
Orville Wright once said, “The airplane stays up because it doesn’t have the time to fall.” The ingenuity of the Wright brothers’ airplane design has changed the course of the Western world forever. The invention of the aircraft positively affected American society by providing a quicker way of traveling, having an influence on warfare, and implementing a better economy in the United States.

twelve seconds, and it had been the first successful, powered, piloted flight ever recorded. Finally, on November 9, 1904, Wilbur Wright had made history when the first flight lasting more than five minutes took place (“Wright Brothers”).
She lets him know immediately that she can give him an answer for that which he seeks, with an outright declaration of the knowledge that old age brings. “We old folk know a lot of things” (Chaucer 2102). In order to save his own life, in desperation, he agrees to give her anything he can if she will provide him with the answer.
“Spirit, hear me. I am not the man I was. I will not be that man that I have been for so many years. Why show me all of this if I am past all hope? Assure me that I yet may change these shadows you have shown me.
I found this journal On the top of some rocks I don’t know how it survived the plane crash. After I picked up this book I saw that it was empty so I thought I could record each day here. As I got off these rocks and started to walk down to the beach I saw a little fat kid with glasses and told him my names Ralph he said his name is piggy, piggy didn’t seem like a real name but I didn’t say anything about it. As we were talking we found out that we were in a plane that was escaping the war and the plane we were in got shot down. While we were looking around for other boy we found this pink shell and piggy said we can use it as a horn and because of his asthma I had to blow it. After a few fails I finally got it and some boys started
