A wizard, a dragon, elves, dwarves, and goblins are simply a few of the creatures Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit in the book titled The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien, encountered on his adventure; an adventure that changed his life. This adventure began with a single act/mistake on a day where you could say good morning and be truthful. It began when Gandalf, a wizard had a conversation with Bilbo, the protagonist of The Hobbit, and Bilbo invited him over for tea despite the fact that Bilbo was trying to get him to leave. This in turn, led to Bilbo hosting a breakfast for thirteen dwarves before Gandalf finally came and announced the quest/adventure. Despite Bilbo’s initial confusion and reluctance, he was coerced into the adventure. Said adventure changed his life and his outlook on life as he knew it

Can it be imagined, going on an unexpected adventure with the risk of never coming back and, as if this were not enough, with a group of people that aren’t reliable or trustworthy? This is why fellowship, the companionship and friendship of people who share the same interests, is very important. The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien is a fantasy novel and children’s book based on the quest of a group of 13 dwarves, a hobbit, and a wizard with the goal of recovering a horde of treasure stolen and guarded by a dragon. During the quest the author develops several themes which quickly grab the reader’s attention. Throughout Tolkien’s literature, the theme that stands out the most is the importance of fellowship because the main character, Bilbo Baggins, impersonates such value and is demonstrated by his actions of saving the dwarves of the spider, helping the dwarves escape of the wood elves prison
The Hobbit is a classic example of a fool’s errand written as a children’s tale. Thirteen dwarves, a hobbit, and a wizard journey across Middle Earth to face a centuries-old dragon that decades earlier obliterated the combined armies of the dwarves. And yet, against all odds, this pack of misfits succeeds in their quest, reclaiming Erebor, killing the dragon, and renewing the line of Durin. The Hobbit is moralistic in nature; it never intends to showcase the literal triumph of the heroes over the dragon, but rather the victory of one set of values over another. The dwarves’ companionship, sacrifice, and heroism defeat the dragon’s antagonistic, materialist, and isolated nature. Many tales throughout the ages echo this classic theme: love
In the Hobbit there are fourteen main characters as well as many other characters that help along the way. The characters are Gandalf the Wizard, Mr. Bilbo Baggins, Throrin Oakensheild, Dori, Nori, Ori, Oin, Gloin, Fili, Kili, Bombur, Bifur, Bofur, Dwalin, and Balin. Gandalf is a wizard that helps the dwarves in their various journeys. He knows more than he reveals to the dwarves and everyone else and he knows that the hobbit can help the dwarves in their quest. That hobbit is Mr. Bilbo Baggins.
The September 11th terrorist hijackings and attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon caught the United States largely by surprise. Once the dust had settled, and the shock and horror of such an unprecedented event had waned, the American public began to ask questions. Names such as Osama bin Laden, countries such as Afghanistan, and organizations such as Al-Qaeda were brought into the public's consciousness for the first time. Through newspapers, talkback radio and television programs the nation asked why do they hate us so much?' Others, such as those in the government and public service, asked what could we have done to have prevented this?' It is
Bilbo the Hobbit, persuaded by an old wizard named Gandalf, to set out on a quest with thirteen militant dwarves. Seized by a self-assured, fire-breathing dragon named Smaug, the dwarves went on a challenging adventure to reclaim their kingdom, retrieve back the gold that was kept inside the palace, and defeat Smaug for good. Along the way, Bilbo found a magical ring and was able to turn invisible, which is a very useful technique for rescuing the dwarves. They manage to pass many obstacles and met different types of villains. At the end, Bilbo and the dwarves did not go up against Smaug, instead Bard the Bowman from Lake-men defeated Smaug and after that the Battle of the Five Armies began.
It all started off an ordinary day for a lonely hobbit by the name of Bilbo Baggins, when he met a wizard named Gandalf and accidently invited him over for tea the next day. By the time the next day had arrived Bilbo had forgotten all about Gandalf coming over. Bilbo’s doorbell rung and he assumed it was Gandalf but it wasn’t it was a dwarf by the name of Dwalin and soon after he arrived more dwarfs started arriving and finally so did Gandalf. In all Bilbo had 13 dwarfs and a wizard to feed. They sat
In the story, however, it is a more mutual work relationship. Tolkien describes the journey on page 35,”At first they passed through hobbit-land, a wide respectable country inhabited by decent folk, with good roads, an inn or two, and now and then a dwarf or a farmer ambling on by on business.” Then they continued on their journey. He knew where they were going and how to get
The looming tower by Lawrence wright is a nonfiction book that covers the decades that lead to the growth of Islamic fundamentalism in the Middle East, and around the world. The story is a fantasy so time is not important.
