Aliks
Aliks was sweating though his leather armor, the sun beamed down on them, a little over 4,000 men. “Do you know why they call it The Weeping Forest” Jacken said “Because at night you can hear the weeps of the undead slave solders. They were forced to fight by there Emperor or a God as they saw him”.
Believing every word, Aliks gave a blank expression, trying to hide his true feelings. He felt a rather unfamiliar sensation go through his body. It was fear, but nothing like he had felt it before.
The Weeping Forest separated Aeneas Keep from StarmHold and we were marching right into its sight.
Lord Chaffton over herd Jaken’s fairytale and laughed
The only way to StarmHold was through the Neutral Forest, and the Pollex knew how to navigate it well. Lord Aenaes the most groundbreaking military commander in the era of conquests, he was the Kings Lord of War, he mastered the art of battle tactics and so did his first son. “Halt” The Lord of War on his War elk commanded “Lord Chaffton will take one thousand light spear-men into the forest, they will root out any scouts that may be lurking, capture them willingly and if they resist kill them. I will march the main army in ones its safe, we will set camp in the forest”.
“only the light spear-men? That’s suicide, there could vary well be an ambush waiting for us” The Lord Aenaes gazed at Lord Chaffton with a cold blank excretion.
“I’m sorry Lord Chaffton, are you The Lord of War, appointed by the King?”.
“No, I

In Ambrose Bierce’s short story, An Occurrence at Owl Creek Hill, a man named Peyton Farquhar is about to be hanged for treason against the Union. While waiting to fall off the bridge to hang, Farquhar thinks back to his wife and child he left back home. He thinks of everything that brings him joy in life before his final breath. He is then dropped from the bridge, but instead of dying the rope snaps and he plunges into the water underneath the bridge. Farquhar eventually escapes his captors and makes it back home to his loving family, once again happy and at ease. Suddenly Peyton Farquhar is dead, hanging from the bridge. His escape was only a figment of his imagination. Bierce uses a plethora of literary techniques to produce suspense in his short story.
As weeks pass Fadlan is forced to do battle with the Northerners, for, as he sees it, either course of action may end in death, so why not go forth in battle.
The Light in the Forest, a story by Conrad Richter, portrays a 15-year-old boy born to White people, but captured and raised by Indians. This creates many interesting perspectives from both Whites and Indians, and how they view god, nature, life, and each other. Prior to this I had never read a book with both perspectives. It takes place in Pennsylvania near the area of Fort Pitt during the French and Indian War. When he was just 4 years old, John Butler was captured by the Tuscarawas tribe during an ambush. He was renamed True Son by the leader of the tribe, Cuyloga, and raised like an Indian. When True Son was 15 years old, it was announced that he, along with other captives were going to be returned to their real families. During the trip,
In the short story “The Thing in the Forest” by A.S Byatt, the author introduces the thing as dark, ominous and has a very putrid smell that is almost like a representation of death. The thing in the forest lurks and wanders around the forest next to a house filled with children that have been sent there because they have been evacuated from their town. I believe that the thing represents or would symbolize many things, and also considering the time frame the story was written in pre-world war era I would say that the story probably represent the death or the decay of the men that fought in the war. Also I believe that the thing symbolizes something literal like an injured soldier that tried to get the attention of the girls that wandered the forest. Lastly, In parts of the story I gives you some indication of the thing and it makes the thing sound like it might be any army closing in on a country or city cause the thing came in “waves”. So the thing might be a wave of scary putrid smelling soldiers that sound and looks like death.
It was Horan Marsh’s time to suggest an answer. “We should stay put. Set up palisades around the encampment. Give them a fight to demonstrate our strength.” Horan was stockier than the others, which complemented his stubborn attitude. The enormous chest and mighty arms almost looked out of place upon his short stature. His hair was a similar light brown to that of Selwyn Wayne, all but more maintained, whereas his eyes were dark and shrouded, as if dulled by all the horrors they had seen.

Awakened from hellish reverie, from the sounds and the feelings of blood and of fury, blanketed in the shadow of a forgotten struggle - the warriors on the battlefield stop.
"Your life continues because you have been spared the mines. You are given food and shelter in exchange for laurels in the arena. Do not forget that. And do not raise your weapon to any of the men in jest. One day you could be fighting with him at your back, to find your only ally would see you dead just as readily as your opponent," Livia coldly reminded him. Her cheeks were a bit flushed from anger though it could easily be dismissed as the heat of the morning sun, or the honeyed wine she drank from in a polished
"A lot of your men are dead my dear Count. Don't worry I assure you that when this army reach the Southern Isles, there will be very few of your men in it. We will need to make a lot of rearguard actions to protect our retreat and that means a lot of casualties."
Swords crashed against shields like a field of doors slamming shut in the wind. Arrows whistled through the air; a murder of tiny crows swarming above us vulnerable soldiers. The grunts of men impaled by hafts and sliced open by steel join the cacophony of a battle raging into dusk. Wet warmness would splash across me in response to the dying cries of my comrades as one after another of those we battle would push our shields apart and break the line. The ground was wet and sloppy, dried earth had been turned to slush by a rain that did not fall from the sky. The ground was rendered difficult to manoeuvre through, encumbered by the lifeless figures of soldiers now without the allegiance that lead them to a face in the dirt.
“They died stupid, the five hundred men turned into blood thirsty Lycans, half wolf half man with the eyes of a murderous thirst for your blood.” Jack lunged forward growling at his brother who yelped and when flipping backwards of the bed.
I have always wanted to go on a zipline. I break out into a sweat as I headed up the steep mountainous terrain. One foot at a time I reached for the unstable scattered pegs on the tree cautiously. As the fear of falling came to mind I stopped and thought to myself...I can do this.
“You knights and the king’ll stop this Morgane and her men, won’t you?” she asked Perceval as she packed. “Everyone’s right terrified. And it’s not just them! One of my girls saw those men from the Highlands… scary looking dressed in furs and with drawing on their bodies.”
In this short story The Thing in The Forest has many types of Figurative Language but mostly it represents Symbolism. One major symbolism is “the thing” which the girls, Penny and Primrose encounter while they were in the forest, represents the the bad things of WWII.
