Spirituality is important to a person wellness and wholeness and it requires the abandoning of all sinful ways. Seeking the Holy Spirit is very important to a person’s spirituality, (p.165). We are all tempted to sin because we were born with a sinful nature. Some people will suffer from disorders associated with personality issues, but should still remain spiritual.
Theistic and clinical humanist are two areas concerning classes of values that are prominent in the field of mental health. Theistic is based on the theory that human morality is better understood in the knowledge of God’s existence and his revelations. Clinical Humanist is based on the theory that humans are superior, supreme and are in control of their own destiny. Clinical

Guilt and confession are intertwined because it is the through confession can the feelings of guilt be relieved. All guilt is not negative because positive changes can be attained through guilt as well as a humbling of spirit, (p.210). According to McMinn (2012), “there are many forms of confessions such as confessions of sin and guilt, confession of one’s faith, confession of love it brings growth and renewal,” (p.213, 219). Along with guilt comes confession and then forgiveness. Forgiveness comes in many forms and in several ways with several different characteristics and is therapeutic, (p.250, 251). There are some people that will not forgive others. Confession of sins should be directed unto God as well as all of our needs and struggles but only certain confessions should be made to specific people, …show more content…
While growing up, I was blessed with three siblings one older and two younger. My Dad was a military person with restrictive abusive values and I was held responsible for my younger sibling. Therefore, when they got into trouble my Dad would make me accountable for them. I received many punishments cause of my sibling.
My Dad was also a Pastor, a so call minister of God, ministering the word of God, but was very abusive to me and my mother. Even thought my Dad was a Pastor he would use curse words at us, belittle us and call us out of our names, go to church, pray, sing songs and bring a message to the congregation. My Dad is now deceased he would also say very hurtful things like I would never amount to anything and I would die before I reached a certain age. To the people that were on the outside and couldn’t see behind the closed doors, my Dad was the perfect gentleman, father, and Pastor.
Forgiveness has a different context depending on where the person is from or what he believes. Religion places a great emphasis on the view of forgiveness.
Confessions, in the eyes of most people, have always been a good thing. As a child your parents told you to confess your wrongdoing to them, to not get in trouble. Confession plays a massive role in the religion; believers in God are taught that one must confess their sins to their savior in order to be forgiven. In the criminal court, confessions are used to convict both the innocent and the guilty. The confession which was once pure has now been twisted, to take away loved ones from one another, turn the innocent into the guilty, and rob the lives of the convicted. A confession is a statement by which the person admits his or her guilt. However, does admitting guilt brand you guilty?
On top of this, my parents always specifically looked up to me for being a leader in the house. The reason for this is, my parents knew very little English, and needed assistance with almost everything they would do. Also, I am the first child; the child that has to fall and learn from the mistakes without any older siblings advice or wisdom. Because of this, I make sure that once I learn the most efficient and effective ways of doing tasks, I then pass it down to my younger siblings. I make sure that they learn from my mistakes and accomplishments, while doing my best to lead them in the right direction to attain
Guilt can Affect how you think about someone else just to forget about that one thing that is bothering you. The book I am reading about is We Were Here by Matt De La Pena. the main characters in the book are Miguel, Rondell and Mong. One of the secondary sources is “Because guilt is painful people often find ways to soothe their feelings”(Markman). After all this secondary source explains how guilt can be painful for someone, especially if they are trying to hide it from other people. In the book We Were Here the main character Miguel uses guilt to in a way that he doesn’t focus too much on it, but the guilt can’t go away since he keeps on remember what he did . Also, the fact that his mother never wanted to talk to him right after what he
While the Bible clearly shows, God alone can forgive sins, and Christ is the one Mediator between God and man, God uses men to bring about his reconciliation. Confession of sins is a ministry of reconciliation. The confession of serious or mortal sins to a priest forces your conscience to recognize your sins. Examining your conscience is necessary if you are to advance in holiness and become more faithful to Christ. It is known as the sacrament of confession, since the confession of sins to a priest is an essential element of this sacrament. It is also a "confession" of acknowledgement and praise of the holiness of God and His mercy and pardon towards sinful
Baumeister et al. (1994) describes guilt as an individual's unpleasant emotional state associated with possible objections to his or her actions, inaction, circumstances, or intentions. Baumeister et al. (1994) thought that Guilt could be understood in a relationship contexts as

“There is a luxury in self-reproach. When we blame ourselves, we feel that no one else has a right to blame us. It is the confession, not the priest, that gives us absolution.” (The Picture of Dorian Grey). The Book Thief, a historical fiction novel by Markus Zusak set in Nazi, Germany and The Secret Life of Bees, a civil rights era novel by Sue Monk Kidd both offer different interpretations about coping/dealing with guilt. Zusak offers that one should channel their own guilt into making things right and doing what’s best to complete the circle. Kidd offers that to get over guilt, one has to forgive themselves, move on and learn from their mistakes.
If one asks for Gods forgiveness he will forgive them. When one goes throughout his or her life, they will make mistakes. They can either choose to ask God for forgiveness or keep running in the path of
Guilt is feeling ashamed and sorry for something that you have done. It is a feeling of pain and anguish. It is a feeling that no one wants to experience in their lives. In the short story “The Tell Tale Heart” by Edgar Allen Poe, the narrator is so determined about one, very strategic plan. He knew that it was the perfect arrangement
During the 1950s the humanistic approach was established, this was because of the growing panic therapists started to experience due to the limitations of psychoanalysis. The man who started this approach was Carl Rogers; he had no faith in psychoanalysis due to his belief that psychoanalysis had fallen short in handling the nature of healthy growth in the individual. Rather than just looking at behaviour from an observer’s point of view, Humanism looks at behaviour from the eyes of the person in question. Due to the fact that this approach centres on personal experiences and subjective concepts, humanists do not deem scientific practices as justified or acceptable. This perspective proposes that each and every one of us is liable for our own euphoria. In modern day psychotherapy an extensive field of efficient methods are at our disposal due to the impact of humanistic
This serves as a motivator to change. As guilt causes discomfort, it can be used as a need to change things in your life, and eliminate the guilt. For example, if someone bullied an individual, they would probably eventually realize they have wronged that person and feel guilty. The guilt would motivate the bully to change their attitude, which would lead to a better life.
Throughout the book, the author carefully details the need for balance between theology and spirituality, and psychology and Christianity. Though the author discusses methods and approaches that are spiritual but based on a strong theological foundation. “Nothing is more crucial to an effective Christian life that a clear awareness of its foundation” (p. 25). Essentially Crabb (1977) maintains that spirituality is a product of the correct thinking associated with strong theological foundation.
Guilt causes a lot of stress for people and it is best not to lie and to be honest. As people say honesty is the best policy. Guilt evolves around everyone and there is no way of stopping it unless the truth is out. Sometimes guilt can lead people to regret that they were born forcing them to leave the people they most love. For example, Sogun left because he felt as though he had killed Sokpae and to
