Characterization, Imagery, and setting are three literary elements that are used in the play by William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet, with the theme of family feuds hurt society.
Shakespeare uses the literary element characterization, Friar Lawrence is used by Shakespeare to prove a point. Friar Lawrence came up with a plan to help end the feud, after it was all started, he realizes that his new wrinkle derails his plan, so he immediately orders someone to stop
When people hear of Romeo and Juliet they think about a tragic love story of two young people who died because they could not bear being without one another, but how did that tragedy come about? Romeo and Juliet meet at a party one night and immediately fall in love. They soon find out they are from families that greatly despise one another and know that they should not be together but they are already too far fallen for each other. Romeo is soon exiled and so they decide to run away together because Juliet does not want to be without him and that plan ends up going downhill. Romeo and Juliet's parents were bad influences on their kids because of their refusal to end a long lasting feud, teaching hate towards the opposing family and pushing their kids to do things against their will.

Romeo & Juliet Throughout Romeo and Juliet there are multiple examples of feuds and violence throughout the play. First, within the opening scene of the play the servants of the Capulets and Montagues engage in a street fight. The Capulet servants Samson and Gregory bait Abram into confrontation by insulting his master. The quote from Sampson saying “But if you do,sir,I am for you. I serve as good a man as you.”

PROLOGUE Lina The tragedy Romeo and Juliet starts off with a prologue which introduces the audience to the characters, the setting, the context of their situation and the central themes. Shakespeare utilises a range of literary techniques in order to engage the audience.
Many long term feuds will have some violence before the feud is resolved, and this is first shown through the fight between the servants of the Capulet’s and the Montague’s. In the beginning of act one, scene one, the servants of the Capulets are eager to start a fight with the Montagues because they disrespect them so much. Sampson, one of the Capulets’ servants, says, “I will bite my thumb at / them, which is a disgrace to them if they bear it” (1.1.43-44). In Shakespeare’s time, biting your thumb at someone was very disrespectful, and because even the servants were doing it, the feud must have spread from the main source of the conflict between the families to the servants. In 'Romeo and Juliet', Shakespeare portrays different aspects and types of love in many ways. The obvious love is the fateful love between Romeo and Juliet although the play also displays platonic love, maternal love and aspects of adolescent love.
In our script, my group Jennika, Brandon and I chose to write our script on the additional scene of how the feud between the Capulets and Montagues began. Consisting of falling in love with the same girl, two best friends that turn on each other arise a feud. We considered additional ideas, such as Romeo and Juliet’s wedding but agreed that we could be more creative with a scene we could combine increased originality when working with a broad topic. For the sake of writing the beginning of the feud, we made up characters that would have been a part of generations in advance. Despite using new characters, we connected behaviours to the Romeo and Juliet play.
