Thomas Jefferson was Born on April 13th, 1743 in Shadwell Virginia. His mother Jane Randolph, was from a rich and wealthy family of scottish descent. Thomas´s father Peter Jefferson, was from a humble family and grew up to make a living off of farming. Back then times could be tough for a financial well family like the Jefferson's. Thomas Jefferson's father died early on, at 14 years old Thomas tried his best to fill his father's shoes. Thankfully a good family friend took the role of Peter so Thomas Jefferson could finish getting an education. After his years of school, and filling his mind of Wisdom Thomas Jefferson took up politics and philosophy. Which lead him to become the Governor of Virginia, and the president of the United Stated of America.

One remarkable presidential decision was the purchase of Louisiana Territory (1803). A shocking 828,000 square miles of land stretching from the Gulf of Mexico to Canada, from the Mississippi river to the rocky Mountains. This nearly doubled the size of the United States. Shortly after purchasing the territory, Jefferson set life to the Lewis and Clark expedition. In 1803 Jefferson commissioned the Lewis and Clark expedition, to explore the new NorthWest territory. The following year, 1804, 45 men lead by Meriwether Lewis and Clark went up the Missouri River. However, prior to the expedition and Louisiana purchase Jefferson had dreamed of sending explorers across the United States to make new discoveries, map, the geography, take notes on the plants, nature, and animals. His family had prospered since the first Jefferson arrived in America from Whales in 1612. Soon after Jefferson’s birth, the French and British began fighting their third war in a half of century over North America’s territory.
