The RMS (Royal Mail Ship) Titanic was the middle child in a series of three ships: the Olympic, the Titanic, and the Britannic. These unprecedentedly large ships were built in Belfast, Ireland, in the shipyard of Harold and Wolff for the White Star Line company. The Titanic and her sister ships were built 269.1 meters long, 28.2 meters wide, 53 meters from the keel to the top of the funnels, and weighing in at a whopping 46,000 tons (Felkins, Leighly Jr., Jankovic, 1998). On April 2, 1912, The Titanic finally sets sail to Southampton, England, where it was to start its maiden voyage to New York. Finally, on April 12, 1912, Titanic commenced its infamous voyage. Just four days into the journey, tragedy had struck. Despite receiving multiple warnings of dangerous ice sections and icebergs throughout the day, the Titanic continues on its course through the frigid Atlantic waters without diversion. The captain of the ship, Smith, goes to bed around 9:20. However, at 11:40 on April the 12th, the Titanic strikes the iceberg on her starboard (left side) and begins her descent to the ocean floor. Some of these issues include simple lapses in good judgement. These lapses include not listening to other wireless operators in the area about dangerous ice conditions. Other lapses include not giving lookouts binoculars (cit). However, the major issues that lead to the sinking of this magnificent vessel were ethical reasons. White Star Line’s desire to overshadow their competitors led to numerous unethical engineering actions regarding the RMS Titanic. These actions included leading the public in false assumptions of safety, not providing enough lifeboats to realistically save all passengers and crew, and not fully acknowledging the physical limitations of the
