1.1-1.3 The sun glinted and glittered in the green eddies, as it came off the water. 2.1-2.4 Around us were the lazy sounds of rustling leaves and insects. 3.1-3.3 We skipped flat rocks which bruised the water with white splashes. 4.1-4.4 Then we edged along the rocky river bank; thick with low-growing weeds. 5.1-5.4 We ducked under the overhanging willow branches -- the smell of pines and juniper above. 6.1-6.3 Twigs and pinecones crunched underfoot; while birds cruised low across the river. 7.1-7.4 We hiked to an open grassy ridge for lunch; savoring the afternoon’s warmth and quiet. 8.1-8.4 At Least for now, the city noise, diesel stench, and memory of the final exams was far away.
