When mag crew workers become victims of tragic accidents or perpetrators of violent crimes, they’re often thousands of miles from home, which makes it difficult for their families to get information about their cases, often involving foul play. Since their door-to-door jobs are by nature itinerant, they roam the streets, trying to sell magazine subscriptions to the public in town after town. It is also a job that, many say, leaves crew members open to serious abuse. There is a long list of persistent mag crew-related problems, which usually generate only local news attention disappearances, rapes, assaults, van rollover accidents, abandonments and suspicious deaths. Successful civil lawsuits against mag crew company owners haven’t done much to curb the industry’s labor abuses, and because of jurisdictional restrictions, local police in most states can do little other than arrest sales agents for selling without proper permits.

We got missions and other jobs from the overseer and other people who needed help. When we were looking for supplies and doing missions we came across two dogs, one that was named Dogmeat and another dog that we named Sparky. Matt and I walk through two big hills and saw lots of big things that we called deathclaws. Deathclaws are really big ugly things that have really big claws. It took a long time to kill these guys because they are really strong and powerful. Good thing we had a mini nuke and a really nice rocket launcher called a fatman.

We are introduced to Melba Pattillo Beals at a young age from her written recollection of old memories of her not having a fair life before she entered Central High. Once Melba signed her fate to integrate she faced numerous problems which were threatened days and nights, deadly situations, and horrifying incidents that got worse once the nine fully integrated. Eventually white segregationists hit their mark when they infiltrated school grounds in search of the black students, and by doing so, they made President Eisenhower choose to send the 101st Airborne Division Guards to protect the kids. The choice had angered many, so the 101st Airborne Division Guards were sent away to be replaced by the lousy National Guards, and for many months Melba and the others endured the same ugly treatment everyday with no true protection.

Lord Byron once remarked that, "Truth is always strange; stranger than fiction." In assessing Walter Hixson's review of Tom Clancy's novels and their impact on American national security it is striking to witness the degree to which an invented fictional reality and the real world played off one another for each other's benefit. In Hixon's review his primary argument is that the popularity of Clancy's novels both with large swaths of the public and in the national security apparatus stems from his exaltation of American exceptional-ism, demonization of domestic and foreign enemies and promotion of military technology as a national security panacea. In essence, Clancy's novels promote an ideological perspective on national security which reinforces fundamental narratives which national security powerbrokers want the public to believe in order to support military procurement and foreign policy initiatives.
As far as politics go, the policies of a country does not always represent that of an individual in other words don’t act until you have spent a minute in somebody else's shoes. This is represented by Tom Clancy’s “The Hunt for Red October” and many historical events. His wife has just died due to medical complication and he has blamed the poor doctors in Russia, so he takes his top officers aboard his variant of the Typhoon Class Ballistic Missile submarine, The Red October. On the other side of the Atlantic Jack Ryan, a CIA analyst and historian
