The Adventures Of Tom Sawyer Essay “We go on and on about our differences. But, you know, our differences are less important than our similarities. People have a lot in common with one another, whether they see that or not.” That quote is what William Hall said about similarities and differences. I realize that my best friend Anthony and I have a lot of similarities but we got more differences than similarities. I know you’re probably thinking then how are we best friends but that’s probably why we are best friend. In the book The Adventures Of Tom Sawyer the characters Tom and Huck have similarities and differences and these are clearly seen in the story theme of Adventures and friendship. Tom and Huck loves an adventure and that’s one reason why they are similar. …show more content…
They both have a lot of fun when they are on an adventure but they also go through a lot of other emotions during the process of it but they have similar emotions. When Tom and Huck goes on adventure they’re also similar because they seek that thrilling feeling. Tom and Huck has that one of a kind type friendship because they remind me of my friendship with my friend Anthony. We always looking for a adventure and it’s crazy because during those adventures we become closer that’s why we are best friends. I think if Tom and Huck didn’t go on adventures they wouldn’t be friends like they are now because adventure seeking is what makes them similar. It’s always a nice thing to know people have similarities but is it nice to know the differences? Tom and Huck have a lot of similarities but they also have a lot differences because similarities always come with differences. Huck is way more mature than Tom like for example when Tom and Huck witness the murder in the book. Huck wanted to go help the person who got blamed for the killing right away because he didn’t kill
Huck Finn seemed like a rebel without a cause right from the start. He seemed as if he hadn’t a care in the world. Huckleberry Finn was also greatly influenced by Tom Sawyer. Huck even joined a band of robbers called “Tom Sawyer’s Gang” in which a group of young boys pretend to capture, rob, and murder people. He saw Tom as a role model, someone who he could look up to. Huck’s decisions during the course of the novel are solely based on Tom and whether he would see fit to it. Huck appeared as a naïve troublemaker in the beginning of the novel.
The characters both share qualities of the same agender but use them for different reasoning. For instance, Mr. Harrison and Atticus are very similar in a way that they are both driven to look beyond what is in front of them. They believe in ways that others don’t and are always looking to the future. We can see that Mary Jackson and Tom share a similarity when they both stand for trials in court. Katherine and Atticus also share a similarities as they stand up and defend people whether it be another person or themselves.
The only thing that distinguishes the two characters is that Tom’s motives were based off of the adventure books he’s read, whereas Huck has more common sense because all of his motives are based on experience and not fiction. Tom’s common sense is compared to Huck’s in chapter 3 of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn when Tom claims that (he fought a pack of Spaniards and A-rabs) “[Huck says], But there warn’t no Spaniards and A-rabs, and there warn’t no camels nor no elephants. It warn’t anything but a Sunday- school picnic...” (Twain 13) “So then I judged that all that stuff was one of Tom Sawyer’s lies. I reckoned he believed in the A-rabs and elephants, but for me I think different”(Twain 14).
It can also be considered an “opposites attract” scheme by Twain. As Tom has a stable, loving family and a home to go too. While Huck who is considered an orphan (due to being the town drunks son) sleeps where he wants, eats what he wants (if he can) and is never forced to go to school or do his “duties”. Most Importantly, Huck has fended for himself for years, and because of it has developed common sense beyond his years and grounding him self in his harsh reality. This is a stark contrast to Tom Sawyer, who creates worlds in his mind and has deep imagination. Even with all these differences Tom still envies the free spirited Huck and will go to great lengths to prove himself, even if Huck sees Tom as his closest friend already.
Huck often cannot understand Tom’s Romantic ideals due to his practical nature, but Huck complacently follows him because he sees Tom as an authoritative figure. When Tom Sawyer starts his gang, Huck questions Tom’s made up adventures, noting
Have you ever needed to choose a friend? Tom should not have been friends with Huck Finn.
This proves that Huck has evolve into a mature and independent young man. However, near the end Huck encounters Tom Sawyer which in return have a detrimental effect on Huck’s develop character. Due to Tom’s, Huck reverts to the childish young boy he once was but also puts in danger Jim’s freedom. Tom, not taking Jim’s freedom seriously, purposely forces Jim to go through much hardship and suffering, which proves that Tom is cruel to Jim. Tom in fact becomes the foil in Huck’s
Tom Sawyer is very imaginative and influential. In the beginning of the book Huck lived by “ What Would Tom Sawyer Do” Towards the middle of the book we are introduced to Buck Grangerford. 1. How does Huck appear to be superior to Tom? In what ways is Huck Finn a superior character archetype to the likes of Tom Sawyer?- well in many a ways, yes sir indeedie! ….. Main point--ergo,the imperative difference--is that Huck Finn is a dynamic character, where (completely like its definition), experiences all the major themes, and both sides of them, and comes to the realistic, practical, right, and humanitarian conclusions regarding those themes. Whereas Tom Sawyer remains static, and focuses more on the scheme, the ploy, the convolution of the plan, and the adventure, and disregarding the final effects or possible outcomes of the scheme. Tom does not care if anyone but himself get hurt along the way.
Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn are two close friends, but are also very different from each other. While one lives in a well-respected family, the other is abandoned out onto the streets. While one boy is liked by almost everyone in the community, the other is looked down on by society. The only similarities the two companions have together are their bravery and courageousness, their strong belief in superstition, and their love of adventure. Despite their many differences, both boys know when to make the right decision, and both value friendship above all.
Elliot explains that the reason for this is because Twain’s interpretations of Huck and the river were perfect. He gave an interesting perspective on Huck that I couldn’t agree more with. Elliot compares Tom Sawyer to Huck in the most fascinating way. He says that Tom was the boy that Twain was. He was the boy with a wild imagination, he had the potential to be successful, and everybody followed him.
Tom and Huck have very different upbringings. Tom has siblings, an aunt, and a loving home. Tom goes to school and church and his upbringing has allowed him to be well read and imaginative. Huck, on the other hand, does not have a family. The son of a drunk single father, Huck has no one to teach him wrong from right. In the beginning of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Huck says, “Pap

In The Adventure of Huckleberry Finn, the main character Huck Finn, was with multiple complications whereas Huck Finn had to go against people’s beliefs. While Huck Finn escaped his abusive father he ran into a former slave, Jim, who ran away from his owner when he figured out that he was on the process of being sold. Along both of their individual adventure Jim and Huck collided on Jackson’s island and begun their adventure together. Throughout their adventure Huck FInn had to be untruthful to curve around predicaments thrown at Jim and him. Through Jim and
