I chose to write about the song Tuscan Leather. I love the recklessness rhymes and epic changes of the beat and most importantly the realness Drake portrays. I believe it is one of the greatest tracks in hip pop/rap history. It was written by David Foster, Linda Thompson, Noah Shebib and the legend himself Drake. Noah “40” Shebib produced this track featured on Drake’s third studio album “Nothing Was the Same” that was recorded in Toronto and released in 2013. Tuscan Leather heavily samples “I Have Nothing” by Whitney Houston and “When Seasons Change (live)” by Curtis Mayfield. The background vocals were sung by American rapper Cappadonna. The name of the song came directly from Tom Ford’s expensive designer cologne, Tuscan Leather (ranges anywhere from $150 to $600). …show more content…
The way he can change the flow and keep up with the tempo at any given point throughout Tuscan Leather is simply amazing, it gives extra suspense to the whole track behind the big drum sounds. The tone and instrumentals complement each other perfectly. The sound of the first beat is so high pitched and rich, I feel like I’m in a studio every time I listen to it. After the last part of the first verse when Drake raps, “Yeah, Tom Ford Tuscan Leather smellin’ like a brick / Degenerates, but even Ellen love our shit / Rich enough that I don’t have to tell ’em that I’m rich / Self-explanatory, you just here to spread the story, wassup”, the engineered drum sound rises underneath the music and creates a cinematic suspense. Right when the second verse starts his voice rises while the tempo speeds up and unleashes everything he had going on at the time, especially with a contract he had with the record label Young Money
Rihanna is the lead singer on the track and the point of the lyrics are stressed by male background vocals. The song begins with a slow and steady tempo that picks up midway with the introduction of the various instruments. The track includes a lot of riffs and emphasis on the backbeat incorporated within a 12/8 time signature. A heavy bass drum is emphasized throughout the piece around the gentle strumming of an electric guitar. As the song continues under Rihanna’s hypnotizing vocals the string section included works to further enhance the other instruments and may or may not have been physically present during the recording of the song. Additionally, an organ and a snare drum are heard on the track as well. Overall, the composition of the song produced an interesting mix that sticks with listeners for a
The song called “Hotline Bling” is sung by Drake because his phone is constantly ringing like a “hotline.” The phone will forever ring because of fame and fans. In this song alliteration, nonstandard, and rhyme are being used. This song interest people just because of what he is saying and the way he is putting it.
Artists tend to showcase a slower tempo for the song if it dealt with negative views of drugs because it is important to raise the awareness. Kanye tries to usher the ideas that money and education shouldn’t be the only objectives of life, so it shouldn’t be so important. Because it is unimportant, why express it with such detail in a slower pace? The music and lyrics therefore are contrasted with a purpose. The tempo is created with a bass guitar and drums. Add these to the already established acoustic guitar and female vocals and the beat sounds very complex. This suggests that the issues are also complex; they cannot be easily understood and solved.
Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, today we have the great privilege of being able to listen to a man that I like to refer to as the new rap royalty. Picture driving in your car and let’s say you’re stuck in traffic and you’re looking for something to listen to on the radio to buy the time, you can turn on just about half of music stations nowadays and you’ll find one rapper that happens to be everywhere you turn, Drake. Drake has become one of the fastest growing and interesting empires that we have seen from the hip-hop scene in a long time.
was when he finally had completed his change to a whole different person. "Memorizing lyrics left me little time to think about
In the music industry, it is not uncommon for original songs to be rerecorded and altered by other artists resulting in what is known as a cover song. One example of this situations occurrence can be seen in Vance Joy’s indie folk-pop song, “Riptide”, that was famously covered by pop and country crossover artist, Taylor Swift. Overall, there are many factors that go into the relationship between an original and cover song and the artists of each song. Such as both artist’s connection to the song and the relationship between the artists themselves. There are also differences between the original and cover songs themselves including song structure, instrumentation, vocals, lyrics, and lyrical meaning.
To their surprise, Drake won't budge. I personal like this song, because most people in the world will look you right in your face and smile but inside they're the people who don't want you to succeed in life. Then we've the people that will tell you, you'll never be nobody. But you as a person you can't let people stop you from succeeding in life, and once you've met your goal, you've to prove them wrong that tried to bring you down, and didn't believe in you that you're somebody, and you can do anything that you set your mind to do. Nobody can stop you from doing what you want to do. This song is basically proving people wrong and that's why I personally like this

The first lyric captures the life that Eminem had. He didn’t have anything growing up and he wanted to change that for
The case I chose to write about is Pharrell Williams hit 2014 "Happy". The song was released in 2013 and has accumulated over 46 million views on YouTube since then and has won various awards and nominations as well as appearing in the popular animated movie Despicable Me 2. Although the case as of now has not been taken to court, the track’s rhythm sounds oddly familiar to a song written by Marvin Gaye in 1965 titled “Ain’t That Peculiar”. The family of Gaye has had previous issues with Pharrell and other popular artist plagiarizing as well. In 2013 the family sued artist Robin Thicke and Williams for their song “Blurred Lines” on the grounds of copyright infringement for sounding almost exactly like Gaye’s song “Got To Give It Up”. Early
Drake’s song “Too Good” is, in many ways an amazing work of art. Two amazing artists- Drake and Rhianna- sing this song. While listening to a song there are a few criteria’s that should be followed and those are: rhythm, meaning, and voice, in which all are met in this song.
The chorus is very forte and it has quick volume increases by a synthesizer sounding instrument that accents the downbeats in the chorus. The use of the softness of the piano harmony complements this hardness perfectly in his three verses as you can hear it lingering in the back. The use of his fading in and out with the symbolic piano sound uses dynamics very effectively – especially his opening, which starts by only a unique piano melody creating that feeling of mystery, nostalgia, and adrenaline. Timbre plays a vital role in the layering of this track. The three main instruments come in at different times and add its own unique place in the song contributing to the overall mood of the song. First, it’s the light high pitched piano, which is unusual in a rap song. Then the dark low pitched guitar comes in when he starts asking the question and it’s soon followed by the heavy sounding drums as he starts to rap. The interesting use of timbre gives an acoustic and classical feel versus the drums and synthesizer of hip hop giving the song its diversity and originality.
After this experience all of his friends and family told him that his opportunity is over, and to give up his dreams of becoming a successful rapper. He knew he has his chance and he blew it, but he never gave up. A few months later he gets another opportunity to rap in front of a crowd. He knew he had to seize the chance, and to prove everyone wrong. The song comes on, and it describes how he’s feeling before he goes on stage. He uses sentences like, “his palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy. He’s nervous, but on the surface he looks calm and ready to drop bombs…” He is telling himself that if he blows this, his dream is over, and that “you only get one shot so do not miss your chance to blow, because this opportunity once in a lifetime”. When he finally goes on stage, he’s feeling nervous, but he’s so ambitious to get what he wants, that he starts to rap like no one has ever heard. The crowd was astonished, and knew that his rap was the best they’ve ever listened to, which kick started his career as a rapper. The song starts out with a piano playing, and then the piano stops, and very fast music comes in, and the rap starts right away. The rapping is intense, because when you’re hungry to achieve something you have to act intense about it.
Everyone looks at a piece of art and has various opinions on what they believe is trying to be portrayed. As Fred R. Barnard once said, “a picture is worth ten thousand words”. Whoever may be viewing the picture, or whatever the picture may be, there will always be a wide description of thoughts on its details. In Drake’s 2013 album cover Nothing Was the Same, Drake has the idea of bringing his two worlds of past and present together. Drake’s album cover is difficult to understand, yet through Drake’s history, the details in the cover, and the reasoning behind the creation, the cover seems to all tie together.
In the song, Eminem’s anger and emotions is used as a premise in the music lyrics, which
