Tutoring In The Classroom

Throughout my life, I have always been told by others that it is good to help. Whether it be helping someone with their homework or working at a soup kitchen feeding the less fortunate. In eighth grade we were told to choose a year long project to embark on. I chose to tutor younger student. I was to tutor a fourth grader specifically in math. I entered the teachers room talked to him. While I was talking to his teacher about helping the kid, the kid was over in the corner of the classroom and had an angry expression on his face. I introduced myself to him and he told me his name was John. We were going over addition of fractions when he purposely spilled his cold sticky Fruit Punch Gatorade all over me just to make the tutoring end faster. I told him no more fooling around we were not going to leave until you understand how to add fractions. Tutoring this kid was like taking a bite of a Red Thai Chili pepper. At first you think it is not so bad but once it is done your throat your whole body is burning. Within an hour I taught him how to add fractions and he could do it within a couple second. The next day he had a quiz over adding fractions but he would not know the results until Monday. On Monday, I was very nervous about what John got on his quiz. I saw John entering the room with a big smile on his face. I saw a big red “100%!!” in the top right hand corner. Success filled the air and the classroom when John showed me the grade. For the next several months I tutored John and helped to become a more successful
