I thought my day at Kings University College was pretty awesome, probably because it was my first time at the campus. I felt they were really welcoming and the food there was so good. To be honest, I thought this trip would be very boring, however, I was totally wrong and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole day. I was really glad that I took part in this because the trip provided me with a lot of valuable information. When the two mentors, Fisher and Chirag told us about their experiences with international students, I felt like their experiences were valuable for young mentors like us. I learned how mentorship is a mutual relationship as both the mentor and the mentee benefit from this relationship. The tour around the campus was the one of the
Peer mentoring is one of a range of peer support frameworks used in schools where students provide support to other students. Peer mentoring provides an alternative avenue of support by offering support from the peer group rather than adults. Research has shown that students respond well to peer mentors and feel a connection with someone that is closer to their age and more closely connected to the experience of high school. The mentors serve in a dichotomous role as older more experienced source of support that one can turn to for advice and guidance, while simultaneously serving as a friend and peer that one can relax and have fun with. This is a role that many times adult mentors cannot fulfill, which makes peer mentoring unique and sometimes

I am aware that the mentorship chair position at PRID is vacant. Rose Trabert( CCBC mentor) had this position. She and I worked very well together at CCBC, coordinating mentors and mentees and teaming with students on a particular job site. After a few months, I was asked to take over the site. I accepted the position. Now, I am busy mentoring CCBC students at two sites. Rose has asked me on a few occasions to mentor students for PCRID. As much as I wanted to I had to decline the offer because, in addition to mentoring interpreters, I also mentor scientists and I am the Program Director for the DC Metro HBCU Alumni Alliance Inc. My tenure as Vice President for Morgan State University's Alumni Association DC Chapter is over
The "mentor-student future planning club" is the club that I would create if I had the ability to . In this club teachers with previous experience in other careers than their own will be mentoring groups of children that know what they want to do with their future. Students who are already driven to go to one career will be taught more in depth about said career by the teacher that has done it before or on the side of teaching. Many student these days know what they want to do when they "grow" up since they remember, but some not as fortunate as them are not quite positive of what they want their futures to have in store.
Formal mentoring programs are ubiquitous on college campuses and yet there is a lack of high quality training for mentoring participants online. The Entering Mentoring training is a notable exception (more here). However, this training is in person. More here about lack of inclusive mentoring / cultural intelligence.
“A mentoring program is essential to a successful business and to succeed your business for the next generation.”
One of the more appealing opportunities that I hope to take advantage of as a University Honors Student is the Professional Mentoring Program. Through my involvement with the Boy Scouts, I had the good fortune of getting to know one of the adult leaders, Mr. Thomas Popp, who became a professional mentor to me. Over the years, I have helped Mr. Popp with various engineering-related activities, from setting up a hands-on engineering course for fellow scouts, to double-checking blueprints for errors. A junior-year job shadowing experience with Mr. Popp was particularly enlightening (and fun). Bypassing the office experience I had expected, we headed straight for the Louisville FC soccer team’s practice field. There, he taught me to use specialized
Throughout my years at MELS I have grown academically and socially. When I first entered high school, I did not know what to expect and I relied on my brother’s experience in high school as a guide for myself. Although I had to encounter different situations, his advice assisted me in the smallest things like doing homework and choosing courses. However, I still had to
When you search for information on Round Lake Area School District 116’s mentor/induction plan you come up empty and that is because there is currently no mentor plan. They do have a five day new teacher orientation that provides new teachers information on what is going on in the district; curriculum, school improvement plans, and the opportunity to meet with administrators that are in the building that they work at. In this essay I will discuss key things that I think should be incorporated into the new mentor program.
This is a mentoring program that allows mentors to motivate and encourage youth in their education. As a mentor, I received special training that enabled me to provide support to my mentees. Seven Oaks is where I mentored, It is an elementary school that teaches Kindergarten – 5th grade. At Seven Oaks, I was able to reach out to young students having difficulties in their schoolwork and coach them on how to be successful in their

The Sparrow School District introduced a new induction/ mentoring program last year; in which the Director of Curriculum is in charge, and one teacher holds a stipend position to meet with the group of mentors and mentees throughout the school year. When a new teacher is hired, they are assigned a mentor that they try to match up with common prep time and grade level/department assignments. New teachers are introduced to the district policy at a three full day orientation provided by the Director of Curriculum; and once the teachers complete their orientation process, they are assigned a mentor teacher. The mentor and mentee are introduced to one another through an email with a monthly checklist to guide the conversations between them. It
Mentorship is very important in the workplace especially in the area of training and development. The mentor-protégé relationship is a much needed relationship that begins in the early career stage and this relationship involves the current or new employees and the supervisor or other colleagues that provide work-related guidance. The relationship itself is comprehensive and involves “educational, occupational, physical, social, and spiritual development” (Greenhaus,, Callanan, & Godshalk, 2010, p 211). One of the initial task of the early career the establishment of the career field which involves the gaining of the workplace competence, learn what is needed to excel in the organization, and to gain acceptance in the workplace to be recognized as the valued employee. There are many ways of achieving the above mentioned advantages in the workplace which one main method is through the use of the mentorship program.
Teaching has been a fundamental component of my academic training. I have been actively involved in teaching, tutoring, and mentoring high school and undergraduate research students throughout my doctoral and postdoctoral work at the City University of New York (CUNY). I taught General Chemistry (I & II) laboratory courses and recitation sections at CUNY for four years. I volunteered as a physical chemistry tutor for undergraduate students from CUNY. At St. John 's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, my teaching assignment included a General Chemistry Laboratory course that also involved a synergistic approach to conducting several laboratory sessions guided simultaneously by two instructors.
