The ability to positively change someone’s mood with words is a powerful tool. This natural skill of uplifting is possessed by few, and only some of which seldom use it. However, there are alternatives to inspiring joy and happiness in others. While not always meaningful, gifts have the ability of uplifting also. These gifts can range from meager food rations to cheap toys to stupendous vehicles. Despite the extravagance, all gifts must contain one core value, a devotion to the recipient, or an attitude of fondness or love. People love attention, therefore it is not the gifts that uplift that person, but it is the person and thought behind the gift that creates joy. It is not hard to help people; all it takes is to follow a few easy steps to …show more content…
It doesn’t have to be a distant endeavor either, simply volunteering to paint or clean things in the community can go a long way. However, if the desire is to provide relief to a large amount of people, whether it be close to home or far away, a charity organization is the route to take. Many charities already exist to provide relief to domestic and foreign people alike. Choosing a specific area in which to help can better concentrate efforts and can determine the charity in which would suit best. I specifically enjoy helping impoverished children by sending essentials to them, along with toys. Therefore an excellent charity for me to volunteer for is Operation Christmas Child by Samaritan’s Purse. Samaritan’s Purse is Christian evangelical charity dedicated to helping people in …show more content…
These skills are vital to that position, so that objectives get accomplished. I personally would choose to be in a position of management, because of my managerial skills. An administrative support or logistics would suit me; however, all positions are open regardless of status or education. Considering my love of numbers, logistics would be a more logical fit for me. The logistics is vital to the charity, “This position utilizes the gifts of organization, planning, and hospitality to welcome and host shoebox contributors at local collection sites. This opportunity allows you to mobilize short-term volunteers and coordinate the shoebox collection at your church as a Collection or Relay Center. Collection and Relay Center volunteers serve as the face of OCC as shoebox donations come through the doors on their way to the waiting arms of children around the world” (Samaritan’s Purse “Year-Round Volunteer OCC”). There are many positions concerning many aspects of life, and anyone can volunteer. The simplest of the volunteers is just packing the shoeboxes. By choosing a position where you are more effective, it benefits everyone as a whole. Each position comes with responsibility to help impoverished children, regardless of the status of that position. Volunteering to manage comes with a lot of responsibility, responsibility that I would gladly
There are a lot of different reasons and places you can volunteer at, such as the soup kitchen, highway cleanup crews, and the neighborhood watch, not only because it affects you directly but also because it helps the community immensely.
I later realized that I should try to get some of my friends and classmates involved too. l started out my junior year. One thing our teacher tried to teach us was the acts of random kindness. After practicing random acts of kindness throughout the school, I mentioned the idea of volunteering a couple of hours with the Angel Tree. I also encouraged our school’s Student Council to help. The club adopted two angels. By doing so, this gave the students the desire to want to volunteer again the following year. This year, we had Beta club, student council and two dual credit classes, a total of 40-50 students, volunteer at the warehouse for 2 days. Some even came back during Christmas Break and volunteered at the Distribution Day. Not only is it important to lead and serve others, but one should also encourage those around him or her to serve others as
Volunteering is often seen as free labor. However, there is a significant cost associated with the recruitment, training, and maintenance of the volunteer force. A full-time staff to oversee the volunteer program is necessary as well to ensure volunteers are being used effectively. The recruitment process varies from advertising to speaking at schools to
I volunteer for many organizations because I am currently in clubs such as HOSA and Key Club. For HOSA, we volunteered at God's Storehouse. God's Storehouse is a small, local community center that helps citizens in the local community to gather the necessities they need. They take donations for clothes, food, and even toys. Us HOSA members went around Thanksgiving. We helped with hanging and organizing clothes and rearranging toys and placing them in the proper places. What I really enjoyed the most about this experience is seeing the wonderful smiles on the faces of the people in need. I was very blessed to have the luxuries in my life. It feels even better to give a person in need happiness. I would love to volunteer for God's Storehouse
“We get underprivileged families who can’t provide for their children for Christmas and they sign up through The Salvation Army,” Noah Manibusan, the event chair, explained. “We can get them whatever they need and basically give
Firstly, this article inspired me because it shows there any small or big donation will help. For example, if every child in the school (John McCrae)donated at least one dollar or any food, it would be able to save a whole family for a month. This would help a lot because when a natural disaster hits land, many homes and transportation can be destroyed. Sometimes the food they had also gone down with the house so donating something small to make a significant impact. A
Volunteering is giving back to those in need and doing it from the kindness of your heart. The Bethany House would be a great place to volunteer because you’re changing people’s lives. Unlike us they don’t have a place to call home and live life not knowing when there next meal will be or where they’re going to sleep. I love helping other people and giving back; by just giving them a hot meal, it puts a smile on their face and makes me feel so grateful because I did that .Many families in Laredo don’t have food to feed their families and they would be so grateful just to receive any meal they get to eat. I would organize a can food drive to give to families in need. Every day I have breakfast, lunch, and
Before doing this project I did not understand how it related to what we were learning in class. Honestly I never put much thought into how putting uplifting notes in a public place would affect the people who read them. But then I realized that when someone says something uplifting to me that it makes me feel good. That is what happened when I posted uplifting notes at my dad’s fire station.
Cheer for me was always my escape from everything. It was my comfort zone. Ever since I was little growing up watching TV I always saw cheerleaders on TV and said I was going to be one when I grew up. So when I got to highschool and I had the opportunity to join the team I did. Freshmen year was when I absolutly fell in love with it. There’s nothing like having a place to go during the day where you feel absolutely safe and at peace. Cheer has taught me so much about myself. It's taught me patience it's taught me kindness as well as compassion and many other things. From my coach to all the girls on my team they have always been there for me through thick and thin. Even though we argue fuss and fight we always have eachothers backs in the end.
Weekly Encourager: Reenergize yourself so that you don’t feel worn out. Because your life is action-oriented, you must recognize that your mind and body need rest in order to function daily. Take a moment to take deep breaths, clear your mind from distractions or other thoughts, and focus on ways to detox by cleansing the clutter so that you may focus on the important things. Staying energized benefits your life and your students’ lives too.
From Ballet and Hip Hop Jazz to Cheerleading, Volleyball or Fashion, my life has been a constant change of hobbies throughout the years. Starting at age three dancing has been a passion of mine that I have enjoyed in my life. As I had planned in the past, becoming a ballerina would become my future job when I became older but a new hobby camp into place; cheerleading. I have always enjoyed cheering on my favorite team while sitting in the bleachers, but I wanted to take my excitement else wear. In 6th grade I was a Jr. Titan cheerleader and I loved it! I didn’t continue cheer in 7th grade and sadly missed the opportunity in 8th grade but I plan to tryout for the team in 9th grade so I may reconnect with the awesome thrill from 6th.
Weekly Encourager: You are the leader that your students see each day. It is important to share the responsibilities as leaders with your students and show them ways that they can be leaders in the school environment and in the world. It is essential for teachers to delegate responsibilities to their students by trusting and modeling for them ways to carry out each delegated task.
A time I had courage was when I was paul bearer. It was at my uncle’s funeral. At first I didn’t want to do it but I knew my uncle would want me to. It wasn’t easy because I really missed my uncle and just the thought of him made me sad. I kind of felt better after the funeral because I knew he would be proud that I did something that would be hard for me.
In 2015, less than 26% of college students devoted some amount of their time to volunteer, according to the Corporation for National and Community Service(VCLA). That means that three out of four college students did not give any amount of their time to help others through volunteering. However, there are hundreds of case studies that prove that volunteering not only helps the person receiving the service--but also the volunteer; this is a mutualistic situation and people are in need. Just by giving an hour every month or so, the volunteer can help make people's lives better. Volunteering benefits both the volunteer and the person or people receiving the service--in particular Oasis International could use more volunteers to help. Oasis International’s mission is to help refugees settle into their new home--the United States--specifically, St. Louis, Missouri.
You are one of the most genuine people I've ever met, and, I love that about you! Some people think being sensitive is a bad thing, but I can't bring myself to think that understanding what it means to not only be sympathetic, but also empathetic is a bad thing. Someone would have to be crazy to not value you and if they don't want what you have to offer, they probably don't deserve your time! As always, I loved reading your post! Miss
