It was a cold fall day when we decided to take a trip down to the Cataract. The traffic was light on the way there, my mom falling asleep in the back while I talked to Jeremy while he was driving. Every time I looked out of the window I saw beautiful shades of red or yellow. The second to last road that we turned onto was a gravel road with a bunch of twists and hills. Jeremy loved these type of roads, especially when he had the blazer to play with. We passed our usual spot that we take to get to the lower falls and turned onto the actual road that takes us into the park itself. There were only two to three other cars parked at the lower falls, one of them started and ready to leave. As we got out of the car, cold air whipped around us. Once …show more content…
After visiting the lower falls, we also visited the upper falls as well. The upper falls had more visitors, due to the fact that you see that parking lot when you pull into the park, and fewer people know about the lower falls. The upper falls seems to have less liter, but also has more trashcans that are out in the open. During our trips to the upper falls during the summer, we take a trip down to the banks using the unmarked trail. When we get down to the bank we saw things like flip flops, sneakers, and fishing lines. Many people don’t go to the upper falls to fish because the water is more rough and there are a lot of rocks on the …show more content…
I had thought that it would be too hard for me to be able to get through the path that was used to get underneath the falls. I would look down at others making their trek and just think to myself, “You cannot do that, your knees and such would not be able to take the pressure of walking over the slick rocks. It is a place that is popular, but only to the people who know how to get to the trail. Brain Shaw told me that “A good way to help better the park is to add picnic tables, trash cans and recycle bins, and to mark trails.” Cataract is not known for its trails, most of them are made by people who want to get to the falls and around the railing that they have put
As we waited for our food, I took to peering out the diner’s large storefront window that we seated ourselves next to and I people watched as the citizens of Mt. Harrison went on about their daily lives.
Two places I would like to live when I grow up would be either in Toronto, the capital of Ontario, located in southeastern Canada, or Niagara Falls, the most southern point in Ontario, a major tourist city in Canada. Why? Perhaps my primary reason is that Niagara Falls is my hometown and Toronto is the longest place I’ve lived so far—six years. Of course, there are many alternative reasons likewise. Such as the scenery of the Niagara Falls itself is extremely beautiful, moreover natural, hence it is number five of the world’s top visited tourist attractions respectively. According to “The World’s 50 Most Visited Tourist Attractions” by the Huffington Post, 22.5 million people visit annually, acquiring maximum tourists from June through August. This fascinating city overlooks the Horseshoe Falls, otherwise known as the Canadian Falls, which carries nine times more water than its American counterpart. Here, the alluring crescent shaped cataract is a prodigious fifty four meters, or one hundred and seventy seven feet high. Going up close to the falls on the boat was just incredible, although I was only four at the time—I still remember—to think, by what means did nature make something so befittingly stunning! As we neared the falls, the sound of the limpid, fleet water rapids joyfully cascading off the cliff like syrup, consequently pounding against the rocks at the bottom, unmistakably gets louder likewise thundering, until it is deafening. Despite the sound being obstreperous, it is a fraction of nature’s rumbles, making it vibrantly flawless. Accumulating at the bottom, it foamed into lather, bubbling to the surface, shimmering and sparkling as if bejeweled with silver, glinting in the aureate light. At that moment the sun came out, its rays catching onto the watery slide, setting onlookers into a trance. Simultaneously turning it glittery like shreds of silky silver, magical like a spray of fairy dust. While significantly having the same dreamy and illusory façade of a Renaissance painting and the glistening sorcery a mirage brings, it created a filmy mystique around the cascade. As it gurgled within its depths and tinkled on the surface—us onlookers were astonished. Sometimes, a faint band of distinctive
Niagara Falls is my favorite vacation destination. The history and museums have been interesting and kept me wondering about the people that have gone over the Niagara Falls for years. Why did they do it? There have been many people to go over the Falls, some survived and some did not. People take it as a challenge or even just for fun. Many believe that they may come out being rich, they either have a great experience and are able to say they survived the Niagara Falls or they perish to their death. It is against the law to go over the Falls and you will be charged, thousands. I love to watch documentaries on Niagara Falls and hear about the people that have gone over the Falls and survived. Niagara Falls is in North America, it is in Ontario, Canada and is on the border of America and Canada. Canada is in the Era of Global capitalism as of 2017, this means that they are in a transitional state with open ended evolution of capital. The Falls are a great source of electricity for Ontario. Canada is moving into the postindustrial society and has achieved 77% of the population to be urbanized. There is an increase in manufacturing and tertiary sectors of the economy, which is what is leading to modernizing the population. Niagara Falls have three different waterfalls and each is unique to the fitting names, The Horseshoe Fall, American Fall and The Bridal Veil. Every Fall flows into the Niagara River filling the river with 150,000 gallons for water. The Horseshoe Fall is in the shape of a horseshoe and is split in half on the Canadian border and the American border by Goat Island. The Horseshoe Fall has nine times more water than the American Falls and makes up 90% of Niagara River. It stands at 167 feet tall and is 2, 700 feet wide in a horseshoe shape. The American Fall and is located in America and is in the state of New York. This Fall is 110 feet tall and 950 feet in width. This Fall shares its location with The Bridal Veil also in the state of New York. The Bridal Veil is 181 feet from land to top and 56 feet wide. In 1678 the first sighting of the Falls was by Father Louis Hennepin, he was sent on a French expedition. Hennepin published a book called “A
Living in the busy metropolitan area, it is easy to forget that we have unlimited natural beauty, that is the great outdoors, so close to home. Kansas City, Missouri is gifted with a plethora of hidden gems, all located within an hour drive. One such gem can be found in the historic riverside town of Parkville, Missouri.
The town hadn’t changed much since Bonnie had left and ever since she had returned, she felt more out of place then any. Mystic Falls used to be a home that Bonnie could always come back to, no matter how bad life got out there. Since returning, Bonnie hadn’t been able to really take to Caroline or Elena for the simple fact she didn’t know how to even address the subject. It wasn’t her friend’s fault that her Grams was now gone but they did play a key role in it. Coming back was a lot more painful then she had presumed and for safety reasons, she continued to lock herself away from her friends.

The chief offered his hand and escorted Dana to the next area. A force field dropped and lights popped on ahead of them, leading down a circular corridor, Dana recognized the place. They were in the old mines. Now, these mines were transformed into sheen tunnels, led to rooms with protected secrets for the future. Her heart pounded faster with excitement plumbing through her veins.
A simple smile from him showed me we have finally made it to the best view in Ohiopyle, making my heart jump straight out of my chest. Buckets continuing to pour over my head, dripping through the trees, comparable to the past three miles. Giant hills with slippery rocks are not the perfect combination for trying to look your best. Not even a full month of dating this kid and you are hiking in the middle of nowhere; thoughts like these ran through my head. My next thoughts were, I just want to go back the car. I quickly mentioned it hoping that he might agree. But his answer was a no because we were at the “best view.” This supposedly amazing view, and could not see a thing. He said “let's wait it out.” Meanwhile, It's pouring down rain! I was like, there is no way this is passing. But I didn't want it to seem like I wasn’t having fun. So we found some trees to stand under, which wasn't hard because there was trees all around us.
The streets of North Attleboro were damp and dark while wet yellow leaves stuck to the sidewalks. My brother and I contested to blow clouds of cold breath highest into the dark sky. Running around trying not to slip onto the hard concrete our mother gave us our bags. Carrying my spiderman suitcase the doors to the hotel automatically split side to side. The soles of my shoes still wet with water I saw a boned dinosaur standing steadily over a pool. Wanting to jump into the pool my brother and I wanted to grab our swimsuits. My mother told us not until tomorrow while my sisters rolled there eyes for they were all extremely tired. Tomorrow seemed to be an eternity although the dinosaur would be waiting for me. Father walking over, checked us
The police id. Watch out. I made a change of plans to seeamp an homeless people are given my tent, this sense of the kindness touched me hart. It's difficult toget lost because everything is baked in this one town.
If you could go anywhere in the world to forget all of your problems, where would you go? My immediate first choice is Big Bend National Park. Big Bend is right near the border of Mexico, and it's unlike any place I've ever been to. The scenery and ambiance of this park never fail to take my breath away. Big Bend is the place where I feel most at peace because of the wonderful weather, the kind people, and the beautiful nature that surrounds me.
The sweetly, disgusting smell of vape juice filled the air and the sight of my new classes burned my eyes, but that wasn't the only problem. My new school was like a college campus, it had three schools about a hundred yards away from each other and the students had to walk between the buildings just to get to some of their classes, but that's only half of it. Being the newest, Plymouth High School was nice, but the problem with this school was that it was designed like a prison, not to mention it also felt like one. The oldest, Salem, definitely showed its age; the school colors were blue and white, but for some reason, the lockers were a nasty yellow with rust spots all over them, so in other words they looked like moldy cheese. Last but
I enjoyed An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge both for its jarring subject and writing style. Ambrose Bierce wrote with color and suspense throughout the short story, and the buildup was incredible. I thought the pacing was done incredibly well; this contributes quite a bit to my positive final thoughts on the story.
After my family was done taking in the valley, we headed off to explore a bit more. We had to hike about one and a half miles to get to the place our friends wanted to show us. We had to walk through a grove of bamboo so dense that the sunlight could barely penetrate all the leaves. The sunlight was as dappled as our family Dachshund. We finally arrived at a creek that was at the base of a waterfall. I was under the impression that we were there to see the waterfall, but
At my old house, we had a particularly weird attic. Occasionally, I would straddle up the stairs to the attic and be frightened because of all the creaks and moans in the wooden floor. A menorah and Christmas ornaments are typical things you would find in our attic. Since my mother’s side of the family was Jewish and my father’s side of the family was Christian, these items were normal to see with each other. Most people would not really see a problem with it, and, honestly, neither did I until holiday season arrived during winter.
