Three Influential Characters to Vahan Kenderian
Everyone is a product of past experiences, Vahan Kenderian is no different. Vahan was a twelve-year-old child from a wealthy Armenian family living in Bitlis, Turkey during the Armenian genocide in the early 1900’s. Within a two day span, Vahan’s life begins to fall apart, his father is taken away from him, two of his brothers are killed in front of him, his grandmother is also killed, and his sister kills herself. Vahan and his older brother fortunately escape, but are forced to abandon their mother and sister. Vahan then begins his journey to flee to Constantipole. During his journey, he encounters many people along the way who teach him life lessons. Firstly, his father Sarkis Kenderian gives strength and guidance to Vahan. Secondly, Ara Sarkisian the coppersmith teaches Vahan that home is not made of materialistic things, it is a feeling and time takes away everything. Lastly, Selim Bey advises Vahan to worry about himself, and to pick and choose his friends carefully. Therefore, Sarkis, Ara and Selim teach Vahan the most through their interactions and change his character for the better.
Vahan's father is a huge influence and inspiration for him. Vahan aspires to be just like his father wanted him to be, strong, determined, and proud. As much as his father’s words haunt him, they also inspire Vahan to continue moving forward. When Vahan and Sisak are in trouble they recite
Sarkis Kenderian is Vahan’s father and is the character that changes Vahan the most. Sarkis has always been Vahan’s role model, but when Sarkis is taken away by the gendarmes Vahan will never forget his father and how his father would want his son to be as strong as steel. These words of encouragement will haunt Vahan to where it will push him to find his own limits. Firstly Sarkis influenced Vahan to always push on even when he feels weak, this first occurs when Vahan and Sisak escape the march. After they escaped the march, they walk for miles non-stop in wet clothes to reach Sanis. Vahan is miserable on his journey to Sanis, but he pushes on and Vahan states that “I could no longer walk as myself, I pretend that I was my father … and my father’s will”(Bagdasarian 56). Vahan states shortly that “I wanted to stop, but my father didn’t”(56). These two quotes show how Vahan wants to give up, but because he is trying to pretend to be more like his father, he is pushing himself to his limits and not giving
In the book Forgotten Fire by Adam Bagdasarian, Vahan and his untroubled and carefree life is flipped upside down when some Gendarmes kill both of his older brother right in front of him. All of Vahan’s race are being killed and Vahan has to go off and leave his mother with his brother Sisak and start their own new life on the run. Vahan quickly realizes life if much different without everything being given to you. Vahan’s father, Sarkis, and his brother Sisak taught Vahan to push through the hard times, always have hope, and to stay strong. With the advice given to Vahan by his father and brother, Vahan was able to gain strength and courage to push through the hard times, even when everything seemed hopeless and unbearable.
Vahan is twelve years old and his family is one of the wealthiest in Bitlis. Except, this all changes once his father is taken away, and then his brothers. In the book Forgotten Fire, by Adam Bagdasarian, Vahan is caught in the middle of the Armenian genocide.Vahan and his remaining family are taken away from their house. He and his brother, Sisak, are now the men of the family and they have to be strong for their mother, grandmother, and sisters. His mother tells them to escape and find a better life, but soon after, Vahan loses Sisak and he is left alone to try to live in this new world. Vahan has to hide from gendarmes, while also trying to find a safe home. Vahan hears of a place that Armenians are welcome and he won’t be taken away because
The protagonist Vahan Kenderian is a spoiled naive child who loses his family in the Armenian genocide and now he must go on his own journey that will last more than three years he will have been through more mental and physical pain than any other child his age. Vahan will encounter new people that will change his character for the better. Therefore, the three characters that Vahan meets and influences who he is the most is Sarkis Kenderian, Selim Bey and Seta.
When you think of a good life you definitely don’t think of Max Vandenburg. Max was a good Jewish man, he was just on a rough path. In his time staying with the Hubermanns, Max did change into a new person.
In Cormac McCarthy’s No Country for Old Men, Anton Chigurh is a hitman tasked with recovering drug money stolen by the main protagonist, Llewelyn Moss. Chigurh is completely ruthless and he allows nothing to interfere. Chigurh kills without thought or remorse but paradoxically follows “moral” principles that are based solely on chance. In the novel, Anton Chigurh is portrayed as sociopathic, arrogant, yet ironically trustworthy.
In 1915, Vahan Kenderian, a twelve year old boy lives with his family in Armenia. His family was wealthy and during the time World War 1 had been happening. In Forgotten Fire, Vahan Kenderian is caring and has determination shown by events in the book.
He finds a lifelong friend at school, Harun, and together they roam the streets of the city, looking for adventure. Jimmy knows too well the agonies of abandonment. First, when his mother, Cecilia, ran away with Richard to pursue a better lifestyle. Then, due to his father’s, Damacio Baca, alcoholisms and violent behavior; he also had to leave Jimmy behind. In spite of the drawbacks from abandonment to being a maximum security prisoner in Arizona State Prison, Jimmy preserver’s the darkness of prison by overcoming his illiteracy. However Cecilia and Damacio is not as fortunate as their child; Cecilia is shot by Richard after confronting him for a divorce and Damacio chokes to death after he is released from the detox center(Baca 263). Vardaman is the youngest child of Addie and Anse. Throughout the whole novel Vardaman did not seem to quite understand death. Although his age was never given we can assume he’s much younger through his childlike thoughts and how he speaks like a kid. He was traumatized from his mother's death and would deal with it in many different ways. In Vardaman's thoughts comparing his mom to the fish he had caught made perfect sense.
Mr. Davit Shanto and I have worked closely together for the past year and a half. During that timespan, Davit has been a self-starter and an industrious contributor to the team endeavors. In addition to having an extraordinary degree of integrity and that type of person that brings out the best in those around him; he is one of those unique character who can both follow directions and take the leadership role, as appropriate. He is one of those individuals where I depended on him if I asked him or put him on projects, that either the task or project will be done by a certain deadline. He is strong in time management and his competence extends above and beyond the skills for which he was initially hired.
Each of these characters are developing individually to reject and grow away from family one reluctantly as a crying child (Anil) driven away from his family by the witnessing of a crime and the other an unnamed man from Scotland who converts to Islam by choice and then falls in love with a Sudanese waitress. In Anil the child is
