I was made who I am by Video Games, My Father and Mother. When I was a lot younger my father bought me my first gaming console. It was a PlayStation One by Sony Entertainment. I remember playing an abundance of different games, I mostly played Tekken games and early games in the Ace Combat series. I had neighbors that came over to my house to play on it. I used to think they were my friends, but in reality they were at a minimum 3 years older than me and only used me to play my games. I didn’t, and don’t mind though, they were nice to me.
After about a year playing on the PS, Sony released the PS2 (PlayStation Two). I wanted one so bad, every time I would see one in the store I asked for it until eventually my persistence paid off. My Dad bought me a PS2, the first model I had was the original ‘Fat Version’. I had immense fun playing new genre of games as well as updated versions of the older games I played. I would got trouble more than once for staying up really late, I would never learn though as I still stay up late to play games to this day. During the time I got my first PS2 I also began to play some on my parents computer. For the life of me I can’t remember the names of the games I played; all that’s left is some vague images left in my mind.
My first PS2 didn’t last very long, I wasn’t very responsible with my things and broke it. My Dad didn’t get angry or upset, he simply told me to learn from my mistake and bought me a new one. The only reason he bought me new
The author argues elderly and non-gamers have a pessimistic vision of technology and video games, assuming they are addictive and insignificant. Wright emphasize video games are vigorous and can set a creative imagination and boost self-assurance. Wright points out the difference between observing a video game and having an actual participation, there is possession of owning an actual experience. Wright continues to persuade that gamers have “possibility space” meaning there are multi opportunities to create, maneuver and succeed personal effect appropriate to each individual gamer.
I have played many video games in my life. I have played "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" by Bethesda for the Xbox 360, multiple "Sonic" games from SEGA, and others. My first video game was "Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks" for the Nintendo DS created by Nintendo. It came out in 2009. Ever since then, I have played many more video games. Then, I decided to learn the possible things that could have happened to me while playing all these video games.
Video games have become a massive icon that has spanned decades, technology and even cultural boundaries. Whether you play on a computer, tablet, phone, or console: at some point in your life, video games have been a part of what you do. Strike up a conversation about games and you can make lasting friendships or bitter enemies. Even if they might not know the specific game, everyone knows what the genre is, and because of this, video games have taken their lasting place in our pop
Curiosity, undoubtedly, is one of the universal characteristics of a child. The innate desire to explore and understand comes just as naturally as eating and sleeping. For example, I was eager to discover how my mother was able to play such enchanting melodies on the piano. While she methodically pressed each key, I observed as the corresponding hammer struck a set of strings to produce a pleasant sound. My curiosity and the love of music sparked my desire to learn the piano; thus, leading me to learn and ceaselessly play for the past 12 years.
So, I’m going to change things a bit. Instead of just talking about dates and numbers, which can be boring; I’m going to give this a little casual twist. So, in order to start the history let’s get a few facts out of the way. Let’s talk about gamers, mainly because I’ll be using the term a lot; gamers are people who spent a lot of time playing videogames. The Average gamer playing video games has spent twelve years playing them. Adult gamers have an average of fourteen years of playing videogames, guys have an average of sixteen years, and girls have an average twelve years. Speaking of girls did you know that 47% of gamers are girls? I would have never guessed that, but it’s a fact. So, as of 2013 49% of all people who live in The United States owns a console. All of them that own a console have at least two of them. Me, I own eleven… I think I may have a problem. Anyway, now that some of the facts are out of the way let’s start, THE HISTORY OF VIDEOGAMES! Now before I start I want to talk about all the most important events in the history of videogames, as I call them eras. Each era is very important because they shaped the videogames we know and love today.
Kutner and Olson also report on interviews with kids. One respondent said that he plays video games because he wants to see something that will hopefully never happen to him—experience it without actually being there (Kutner and Olson, 2008, 116). Some other kids said that they played M-rated games with groups of friends, and further research showed that M-gamers were more likely to play games in social settings or with more friends in the room (Kutner and Olson, 2008, 130). Other research shows that video games are a good tool for bringing people together—especially new kids, shy kids, or mentally disabled kids (Kutner and Olson, 2008, 132-134). This book does a good job of describing the effects of video games on lots of different kinds of kids—from different regions, different races, depressed kids, both genders, and mentally disabled kids (Kutner and Olson, 2008, 134).
As I was growing up, the first time i had ever interacted with a computer was when I was at my cousin’s house. He was playing this Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game called Maplestory, he showed me his character and killed mobs and monsters with it. I was immediately drawn into the flashy skills and cartoon like characters. At that point in time, at 7 years of age, i knew that i needed to play it.
I got my first console (a Super Nintendo) while I was in the third grade, and I was instantly hooked. I then got a Play Station 2 the summer after my sixth grade year, and a game that I'd constantly play on it is “Cabela’s Big Game Hunter.” This game is a direct simulation of real life hunting. This relation to the real world had stellar impacts on my hunting skills. Through this game, I was taught to stay quiet, to stay vigilant, and how to properly aim a gun. So, once I began hunting with my older brothers, I had some virtual experience.
My love for videogames started at a young age when I was in middle school I started out when I bought my first ever gaming console Nintendo Gamecube with my birthday money that I got at my twelfth birthday party. The game my dad got me for christmas was Tony Hawk’s Underground I played the game day and night whenever I had the free time as I played everyday I knew I had a affection for video games. As I grew up I got various different consoles and handheld devices such as the Nintendo DS, Nintendo N64 and Xbox 360 as I got older I decided I wanna to get a career as a game designer. When I was in High School I took a class called Game Design it was a very difficult task ,but it was interesting it just didn’t find my interest anymore so I moved on I wanna to find something better besides coding all the time. I kept searching and looking
As a gamer, the main focus is to play the game, beat it, and compete with friends to test and see who’s the best. There have been times where gaming had a major impact on my school work, because they (videogames) were mainly created for entertainment, but also have both positive and negative things and lessons to learn from them. With being an African-American, I am sometimes associated with being violent and dangerous. The games that are played are mostly violent and involves doing things that you normally wouldn’t, which would help the worries of those I encounter in the world. But I play easy going and light hearted games as well. Video Games do have their influence on how I look at things sometimes. One more additional thing could be the influences it does on my performance at school. Some games can be so interesting that you lose track of time and play till morning, but the consequences would be the amount of sleep you get, and the amount of homework you complete. These were some of the things Cam Adair mentioned during his Ted Talk and these can also be said about me. I’m not saying that gaming or technology in general is always bad, however it is possible to reduce gaming time to do other activities in life. I love gaming, as well as talking about them with my friends, but I’ve suffered the problems with playing too much gaming. I recommend avoiding these mistakes, or at least try your best to break the
I haven’t always been a PC gamer, since a young age I've had a connection with gaming as a hobby, one year I received a Gameboy advance for Christmas and thus began my love of all things digital. Every year it seemed a new game system would come out and I always managed to convince my parents to get me the latest toy. I’ve had many types of consoles over the years, including Xbox, PS3, and a Wii. The jump to PC gaming was influenced mainly by my friends who started to play more games on PC than consoles, so to join them, I needed to shift to PC
At this point in time I had been without a serious gaming platform for roughly half a year and being someone raised on their PlayStation 2 this was becoming a
I really liked and still do like playing video games but they didn’t really make me the person I am today, but I do remember on snow days me and my friends would play all day and sometimes my
Gaming has been such a huge part of nearly everyone’s life growing up as a kid and it’s only getting bigger and bigger every day. Growing up as a kid, online gaming wasn’t as popular as it is today. I started off with a Gameboy and Dreamcast console that later shifted to better consoles like the PlayStation, Xbox, Wii, and Nintendo. Nowadays, almost everyone, including myself, have shifted to the more popular gaming platforms in mobile games and online PC games. More specifically, certain types of online gaming styles like FPS, MOBA, and MMO are distinctly more popular than many others. Not only has the popularity for online gaming platforms evolved but the importance and relevance of
