Violence in music does not have a strong enough impact on children and teens to create acts of violence within society itself. Media violence alone has not been proven to create violence within children, however, it has been an influence in their lives that may result in violent acts because of the amount of influence their surroundings have affected children’s behavior (Richardson and scott 1). Music alone cannot result in violence, but in addition to living in the ghetto, abusive parents, or watching violent or sexually related videos then violence could occur if the child is brought up in that way. The listener would need to have the mindset of violent behavior to create a criminal act with the help of years surrounded by a violent environment. Kids are believed to only listen to the message within the media if it can attract their attention. Cooke attempts to persuade the reader that there is as much incidents of kindness as there is acts of violence throughout the media. Therefor, music cant influence an individual to be violent or kind, it is up to the listener itself and musicians being blamed for their actions (Edgar 5). Rap doesn’t influence who people are unless they have minuscule brain power and poor judgment in the first place.
