Subjective, or objective, perhaps both, using a Star Wars bed sheet for the subject along with two different sources to gain our information we will form comparisons, a clear distinction between the styles of analysis. “All My Life”, written by John Freyer, along with the E-bay web site will be where the information will be collected, same item, yet exceedingly different ways of letting their audience know what is for sale. John Freyer’s, work is overwhelmingly subjective, talking about the history of it than the actual features of it. E-bay, unquestionably objective, with experienced sellers who are perspicuous with details in the description of the items, gives the buyer a distinct account of the purchase. However, there’s only one link that makes them the same, they both give the main idea of what they are trying to sell which is a full/queen size Star Wars sheet therefore I don’t believe this to be enough compelling information to warrant merit. This leads me to conclude it …show more content…
Then he proceeds to explain where he acquired it, a thrift store. This compelled him to share his objection to buying undergarments as well as linens from there so he decided to use it as a “filter”. Of course, this means he felt it necessary to point out what “filter” means and his description had more to do with taking a girl out to George’s cheeseburgers than selling the sheet. Towards the end he does tell you what he does with it which was to put it on his bed to judge girls by. If she didn’t like it there was no second date. Nevertheless, this is all subjective, nothing to do with selling the Star Wars sheet. Subjective writing caters to the one who enjoys a story, not too particular about the exact details of the subject still appreciates the personal
I, Jaylen Ferrell believe my art of life is really special because help someone get back on track motivates you to do the same thing and you will be confident in your ability’s to help yourself and others. Being able to help people is a good thing because the more you succeed the more will not question your ability to do so. For example a teacher seeing his or her student pulling them self together from something that happens to them some time ago. The teacher might look at it like if he can do it I can do it.
In order to gain interest from their viewers, vendors on Ebay apply to the logic sense using objective descriptions.
1. “Mary Karr presents her childhood in an almost unbroken panorama. Mine is a fogged-out landscape from which occasional memories appear like isolated trees . . . . the kind that look as if they might like to grab and eat you.”
The image I chose for this paper is titled A Rose. The image is a painting painted in oil on a canvas and was painted by Thomas P. Anshutz. The painting was produced in Pennsylvania during 1907. I researched this image on ARTstor by using the term realism and then I narrowed down my search by selecting a filter to return paintings as well as setting the geography filter to North America. The painting belongs to The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s collection and is on display in the American Wing in the gallery of Images of Woman from 1880 to 1910.

: Chapter 1, Making Sense of the World Differently, was extremely stimulating and eye-opening. It made me sit back and reflect on some things in my life. The parts that captivated me the most, was the sections on The Rarity of Sociological Mindfulness and Continuing Conversation. I agree with Schwalbe’s points that society values money and status, while issues with society are sort of swept under the rug. We live in the United States of America, one of the most ethnically diverse counties in the World, it seems as though we are drifting further apart, rather than coming together. For example, racism in the United States has always been an underlying issue. With every police killing of an African American, follows news coverage, societal outrage,
The Silence of Truths and the Love of Family “Our first act as free men was to throw ourselves onto the provisions. We thought only of that” (Wiesel 119). Victims of the Holocaust dehumanize and a shell of their old selves; nothing matters to them anymore except their basic necessities. From the 1955 autobiography by Elie Wiesel, Night, and the 1997 Italian film under the direction of Roberto Benigni, Life is Beautiful, the real experiences of the Holocaust have a voice from two perspectives. Yet in both Night and Life and Beautiful, Wiesel and Benigni showcase the ideas of family and silence.
This book has opened my eyes to so many diffferent things, it is crazy how much they don't tell you in history class. Right before this excert, James Loewen includes another journal entry about these Pilgrams breaking into a few houses that belonged to Native Americans that were not currently home. He continues on talking about how some Thanksgiving traditions come from these Pilgrams who were robbed houses and grave sites. They spent their morning going into empty Native American homes and taking as much food as they could carry. Later, these Pilgrams found different Native American graves dug them up stole what was inside and left. After this they would return home and thank God for his gifts. A lot of Pilgrams used to do this and it started
Shelby Lee Adams has a distinct style of making his documentaries personal portraits; he takes pictures of situations that he feels reflects him and his beliefs. When taking his photographs, he chooses intimate moments where he truly believes that he needs to take a picture right there. He shapes the emotions that are being told by the photographs by the people he has formed bonds with and also manipulating the placing of the people. In his documentary, The True Meaning of Pictures, Adams is showing the culture of Appalachian people through the Childers family and the private moments that they shared with Adams. He also inputs himself into his documentary as another source of information for the Appalachian
Browsing curiously through the many listings on AllMyLife I came across a board game made in 1965 by a company called Pleasantime and the product named Space Checkers. The board game was easily found on Ebay and a few different variations of the same game, though the descriptions differed greatly although the same product in comparison to AllMyLife. The audience is arguably the same, though perhaps those who know about John D. Freyer and AllMyLife may bring in an audience to purchase his possessions rather than just to play an old board game. The photos on both AllMyLife and the Ebay listing both show the box as worn however the listing on Ebay shows additional photos such as a piece that was chewed on. John D. Freyers listing conveys a subjective story less about the product and more about his history with it, contrasting with the Ebay listing simply describing the product in an objective manner.
If I could talk to Sharon Draper and give her feedback about her book “Out of my Mind”, I would tell her that her style and technique were flawless and could not have been better! She is able to make the characters seem so realistic and since the book follows Melody’s point of view, you are always super scared about what will happen to her.
Liz Larner creates art that has a presence and that shows instability. Her art is influenced by poetics. This is shown through the overlap in some sculptures as well as breakage in others. The art that she produces gives a sense of flow and completeness. Using instability as part of her work is something that brings a sense of change to her work as well as almost never using the same techniques. Her relation of her art work to real life shows her beliefs in the balance of reality and illusion.
In reading “Ways of Seeing,” I found David Jaffe’s and Peter Felten’s projects/assignments to be compelling and intriguing. Jaffee in “Thinking Visually as Historians” tried to make his students interpret and analyze specific historical visuals, however, some students demonstrated difficulty integrating their visual readings with contextual historical understanding. He decided to take a pedagogical turn by watching his students look, pay attention to the steps they took to analyze visuals, as a way to understand historical problems and master their use of sources. Through the use of a scaffolding method, Jaffee created an online miniarchive, selecting a few document sources that could enhance student visuals (portraits) and help them keep the
Every city or country can be loved and hated at the same time. They are only loved from a far distance only. As if there are many hazards on the inside of the city. It is clear that in the poem "Tale of two cities", Mark Jarman symbolizes his emotions about his home city through vivid, and colorful imagery, making the theme clearly understandable. Mark Jarman displays how it is possible to love and hate a place formerly, in the poem.
Ever since the Holocaust happened there has been a variety of movies and books portraying this massive genocide that changed individuals’ lives. One of these movies that portrays the Holocaust is Life is Beautiful that was directed and acted by Roberto Benigni in 1997. This particular film won Oscar awards and it’s unlike any other Holocaust movies because of its drama, romance, and comedic genre. It tells the story of a man named Guido that comes to Arezzo, Italy and works as a waiter for his uncle Eliseo. Guido falls in love with Dora, a school teacher who he calls “Princess” each time he sees her. Eventually, Guido is able to charm Dora despite her being engaged. Five years later they have a son named Giosuè, but at this point in time
