Visual Analysis: Stranger Things
One of the biggest television shows today is the beloved Netflix original series Stranger Things. Set in the 1980s, it is very nostalgic for many adults and a taste of the true 80s experience for the younger generation. Created and produced by The Duffer Brother, it is a story that starts with the disappearance of a young boy and the supernatural chain of events that follow. The show’s creators were inspired by E.T., The Goonies, and Stand By Me. The show revolves around four boys who are all best friends that ride their bikes everywhere. This hilarious group is put through not only the disappearance of one of their friends but also the monstrous past of a new group member named Eleven.(C.H.) The scene we

His footsteps are fast and you hear fumbling and metallic sounds. I heard a gun being loaded. All you hear next is him nervously breathing and the music becomes louder and more suspenseful. The music stops and you hear very loud alien noises and suddenly complete silence.(C.H.)
Visually watching this clip– I saw a young boy riding a bike at night, he's on an empty street dimly lit by his bike light, and a lone street light. The road is surrounded by darkened woods he passes a sign that reads, “Restricted Area under Hawkins National Laboratory.” The light on his bike turns off, as he looks down and it turns back on when he looks up to see a man-like shadowed figure standing on the road in front of him. In panic and fear, he swerves off the road, tumbling down a hill into the woods. He sits up and looks at his bike, on its side and the wheel still spinning. he looks up and sees the creature amidst dense fog. He jumps up and runs He runs into a house, slams the door behind him, and locks the door with the chain. A dog jumps up at him barking, he continues further into the house down the hall looking for rooms and calling for someone. He runs back to the living room and looks out under the blinds. to realize the creature has followed him and is standing in his front yard. He quickly runs toward the phone and dials 911 frantically speaking. The dog barks at the door and the boy looks around the corner. A shadow fills the window of the front
It was a dark and stormy night. I, Jonathan Harker, was shaking and I didn't know what was going on. I was seeing terrifying shadows around my room. Also, last night, I thought a person or a thing was behind me, but I couldn't see its reflection through the mirror. I didn't know what to do, so I started packing.
Stephen King’s short story “The Boogeyman” is a thrilling adventure that incorporates an urban legend that has many names throughout the world, and therefore makes any reader able to identify with this story. It pulls you in, making you question whether the stories your parents, cousins, or siblings you had finally deemed as unrealistic and fake were fictional at all. Why is King’s story so eerie? Is it the realism in the story, or the fact that the creature being described may have always been a small weakness for you? The scientific article “The Bogeyman” in which we are explained the origin and purpose for the monster may have the answers to these questions. After all, how probable is it that an unidentified creature will happen to appear in sight tonight?
Have you ever had the scary or disconcerting experience of seeing a human-like shadowy form nearby you that later disappeared? Afterward, your mind may have tried to rationalize away what you saw as just a trick of the light, a case of jittery nerves, or just your imagination. But deep down inside, you feel that you have just seen a shadow person. What are shadow people? They are just as real as you and me, because they have been experienced by people all around the world. Many first-hand accounts of those who have witnessed or had experiences with shadow people can testify without a doubt that they are NOT just your imagination.
On 10 August 2001 at about 3.00pm, the sun was shining and there were only a few clouds on the sky. I decided to go out for a walk, so I took my car and drove to a big forest in Schouweiler. There are no streets near the forest, so I walked about 1 km to reach it. After an hour I was deep inside the forest so I decided to go home. But suddenly I heard a little noise. I turned around, but I didn't see anything. A few seconds later I heard a sound of breaking branches, I looked around and I saw a dark figure standing a few meters behind me. It was about 2m (6 foot 6 inches) tall, dark haired and very big. I tried to film it, but it disappeared quickly, I couldn't follow anymore. After an hour I was at home again and I still couldn't believe what I saw
For the visual portion of this essay I chose to print and paste pictures of objects that were either in the story or were symbolized throughout the story. I decided to put a justice scale for Harrison Bergeron because the story was about equality. the story was unique because it did not only make people ''equal in the eyes of God and the law,'' Kurt Vonnegut took the idea of equality to a whole other level by making every man and woman equal in every way possible, which is why I chose to represent this story with the justice scale. Another story that had a lot of symbolism is ''The Study in Geometry'' who's title cleverly means the study in triangles or in this case love triangle. In this story our protagonist
This is a picture of my BIC card and is what I get as a Medi-Cal recipient, and the other picture is my new insurance card. I chose this picture for government health programs because the department of Health and Human Services are where they provide Medicare and Medicaid. The department of Health Care Services is where they administer Medi-Cal, which is what I have. It is the nations largest Medicaid program and many Californians have it. It pays for almost half of all births in California, and a little more than half of all the revenues in California hospitals. Medi-Cal, which is what I have offers essential health benefits similar to what Covered California offer. When I visit the doctors or is taken to the emergency room, my expenses are
Donald Trump, the recently elected 45th president of the United States, gave two different answers when he was asked for his thoughts on immigration and the road to citizenship. While being interviewed in June of 2012 by CNBC, In response to the tough immigration law passed by the state of Arizona a day before, Trump said that he understood the undocumented immigrants and how hard they have worked to become exemplary people and that he does not believe that they should be sent out of the country. However, in June of 2015 when Trump initiated his presidential campaign by responding quite the opposite by stating that Mexico does not sent their best people, instead they sent their rapists and criminals, he also said that all undocumented immigrants on the road to citizenship would have
This is an anti-smoking advertisement geared towards parents of young children. The advertisement is overall plain and simple; it gets straight to the point when you look at it and utilizes a dark theme. This anti-smoking advertisement is trying to evoke a sense of “parental guilt” into parents who smoke. The way the advertisement is able to do this is through the use of an optical illusion, use of text and the use of negative space.
At 9:30 PM on October 18, 2017 I was dispatched to 666 Killers Drive regarding a man who was heard screaming inside his home. I arrived at the house at 9:45 PM, and knocked on the door. The man answered the door and greeted me. We entered the house and we told him the reason we had come to investigate, which was because a neighbor had heard a shrieks coming from inside of the home. We then began to talk to the man and he told us that there were shrieks were because he was having a bad dream. As time went on the attitude and mood of the man began to change. He went from having a smile to what seemed like he was very anxious with his heart beating out of his chest and almost on the verge of sweating. I become a little suspicious of why the man
Creeping around the shadowy house, the predator found its prey waking to strange sounds. The victim lay facedown, with a sweating forehead pressed fearfully into the pillow, silently praying the noises would just go away. Suddenly the victim found himself straddled and pinned to the bed. He was unable to scream for help due to the pressure of the handle of a pick-axe against his throat, preventing any breath from escaping, much less any sound. The victim struggled beneath the weight of the assailant. The scant light from the sodium-arc street light outside cast a peculiar silhouette on the walls of the darkened room, projecting an image that looked oddly like that of a cowboy saddled upon
Generally believed to have begun in Florence, the Renaissance – also known as the ‘Rebirth’ – was a period of reviving interest in classical art and the beginning of scientific revolution. The Renaissance period did not begin abruptly; instead, it was an idea that took shape since the time of the painter Giotto (Gombrich 2007). In the early Renaissance period, Giotto experimented with and laid the foundation for painting with perspective, a method that was refined and perfected by later painters and sculptors. The period towards the end of the fifteenth century was known as the High Renaissance. It was the apex of artistic innovations, techniques, and productions. The height of the
The Dark Age of Greece refers to a period of time where all knowledge of Mycenae construction, painting, sculpture, reading and writing disintegrated due to Dorian invasion. One form of art that continued through the period of the Mycenaean downfall was the art of pottery. Pottery, more specifically vase painting, was the beginning of an illustrative development in Greek art and was considered a durable form of art because it ensured the survival of artifacts for long periods of time unlike other forms of art. The emergence of independent city-states within Greece took place around the 8th century, which in turn led to the formation of colonies to facilitate trade

It was a dark and stormy night. The wind was blowing and causing the old oak trees beside the house to scratch the windows with their finger like branches and make a “screech” sound every time they rubbed against the window. There was the occasional bolt of lightning that would light up the sky as if it was daytime again and would show a dark shadowy figure that almost seemed as if it were moving closer every time the lightning struck. I watched this odd figure and could not understand out why it was acting so strange. I called the police in a frightened tone because I feared that something bad might happen. They answered and said, “Hello, this is the Police Department of Broken Arrow. Please state your emergency.” I said, “ I live at 837 Red
One sunny spring day, Rachel arrived home from a long day of school. As she set down her backpack, she casually walked to the kitchen to begin preparing a snack. When she was opening the cabinet door she saw an odd looking light coming from the kitchen window. She also heard a small bang and the neighbor’s dogs begin to bark. She thought to herself what the light and noise could have been. It was too bright to be headlights from the neighbor's car or really anything else. Rachel slowly approached the door to her backyard, slightly afraid of when she will find outside.
