I can definitely say I didn’t expect that. The bird screeched and dove at me again, this time, I jumped to the side and rolled. I grunted as my left shoulder hit the wall next to the alley door. As I lay on the ground, I looked down and found a weapons belt wrapped around my hips. I yanked one of the throwing knives out, flipped it and palmed the handle. Using the wall, I slid up, watching the sky for the bird. This time, I didn’t take my eyes off it. It was just as massive as I first thought, as it circled, its wings blocked the sky. It tucked its wings and dove right at me like a large rocket. Just as I was about to throw the knife, a small voice said, “Wait”. I paused for a second, letting it plummet and just as it reached its feet out …show more content…
“Mugged,” I said and swallowed hard, “or, at least, I guess that’s what they were trying. When they realized I didn’t have money they shoved me into the wall and ran." Rhonda touched my forehead lightly with a finger and I flinched. “Ow!” My voice sounded rough. “Sorry.” She took me by the shoulders and steered me towards the restroom. “Let’s get you cleaned up, okay?" Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Alex, an unreadable expression on his face. He turned to follow until Rhonda held up a hand and said, “Later.” She gave him a look and continued to wrestle me out of the room. Once in the restroom, Rhonda told me to stay. She walked out and a few moments later, she walked in with a dry towel. Wetting it she said, “So, are you going to tell me what happened?” Slowly, I started telling her what happened and pulled off my coat which wasn’t easy because I hurt all over. When she turned over my left arm she gasped. There was small gash that was ragged like a rusty box cutter attacked me. The bruising around it made it look larger than it was. “I just need it wrapped. It will heal. Things like this are going to happen, you know?" I tried to sound …show more content…
“Follow us and I’ll tell you." I looked back at Alex rolling my eyes. She sat me down in one of the chairs and disappeared into the kitchen. Alex slid down into the chair next to mine, his stare intense enough that I started to squirm. Rhonda reappeared with a bandage and some topical ointment. “Ahhhhhh!” I yelled as she squeezed some out onto my arm. She raised her eyebrows. “Would you hold still so I can wrap it." As she began to wrap my arm, she looked at Alex and told him the story. When she finished the cut was hidden behind a tight and neatly wrapped bandage. Then she got up. “I’m going to go over there and finish helping them so we can leave.” She pointed across the room, then she looked at me, “He looks like he needs to talk to you." She spun on her heels and left us alone. “It looks much bigger than it really is,” I said before he could speak. “On the whole, yes, it looks bad, but honestly, it’s just a bunch of small scratches. Most of the bruises are just ones that I got from rolling around in the alley and…” Alex held his hand up and sighed softly. “I can’t do this again. I can’t watch,” he paused, and I felt my pulse jump, “someone that I love, get hurt. I just can't do it again. I'm done." Alex stood up, leaving me sitting there watching him walk away. I felt like I’d been raked out with a
Smith waiting frantically, “Gosh Isiah you scared me, you’re lucky I covered for you guys”
"I think you broke it. It looks bad." Matt sighed, he made a makeshift splint for my hand. "We will go to the clinic tomorrow to get it checked out." Matt informed. "Let's try to get some sleep." He nodded as he guided me to our small cabin. He helped me take off my shoes, jacket and helped me into bed. Matt climbed in bed beside me, before blowing out the lantern on his nightstand. His arms made their way around my waist, he pulled me close, careful not to hurt me.
“There, we can see your beautiful face again,” she says, depositing the washcloth into the murky water, and extracts the bandages and tape from the medical kit. “It's not bleeding, but knowing you, you'll figure a way to open it up again.” She grins.
I will probably get a bottle of water before I leave too.’ She thought for a moment, deciding to save the cookies and finish the sticks. Fayette started to munch on one of the sticks, smiling and nodding to Carrietta as she excused herself to get something to drink. She flinched when she heard Matthew spoke, watching him leave the table to go over to where Ivana and Carrie were at to see that Carrietta didn’t seem well.” I-I hope everything is alright. I’m sure those two will be able to help her.. Although, maybe we should go over there to see if they need any help…” She quietly spoke toward Reyen, her voice filled with concern for her friend wellbeing. She wasn’t sure if it would be the best idea for every single one of them to be there as they might attract too much attention which could make things worse. She hoped that it was nothing serious and that she was worrying over
"It's okay, will put you on antibiotics, until your wounds fully heal, okay?" My aunt asks him.
"It's OK, really it is. I have sustained worse injuries before." I say smiling at her. She looks at me and a smile slowly appears on her face.
"Kay kiddos, were just gonna get some statements from you about alex and then you can go home." She said
“Well, Mr. Tony, it’s a battle wound,” I hesitantly explain. He gives me a suspicious look, but I boldly smile and say, “Just a word of advice. If you ever participate in a water balloon fight, wear eye protection.”
she shook her head but sobbed out softy, "no bleeding, just pain from his yelling. my nose and my lips are the only things bleeding, but i can feel something on my elbows from him pinning me down."
“Gawain,” said Joan, still adjusting his nose, “the more you talk, the longer this’ll take. I’m almost done. I’m sorry this hurts so much, but there’s no other way.”
Kristien was struggling to sleep. It was night, she knew, because Israel had told her good night. Her wrist hurt really badly, but what could she do, she was a prisoner. It wouldn’t hurt as much if the cuff wasn’t pressing on it, but the cuff was, and she couldn’t move the cuff, it was secure. She knew what had happened. Chandrogana had accidentally hurt her wrist, but she didn’t know if it was just twisted, sprained or broken. By the time the doctor came to see her, her eyes were watering, it hurt so badly. The doctor came in, and didn’t say a word to Kristien. Just went to the panel in the wall. He scanned his handprint, and then typed in instructions. The one cuff on her hurting wrist, the left one, uncuffed, and Kristien felt a little bit of relief. But it was still very, very painful.
Lindara slid off the table and adjusted her dress. “That’s fine. Thank you for helping me. I knew it wasn’t a major injury, but I thought it best to have you look at it.”
Alex blew out a relieved breath, packed up the set, and opened the door. Once inside, she pulled out her cell phone. She called her best friend, who was waiting outside, acting as a lookout. “Paige, are you there? I made it into the office.” She kept her voice low, barely above a
“Shhh, it’s okay,” Roy soothed, rubbing his arm. “You have a lot of wounds on different parts of your body.”
“Definitely… I don’t know what my life would be without you.” Vic admitted quietly, sitting up more on his bed as he felt tears building up. It hurt to imagine how much worse he’d be today. Hurriedly and soundlessly, Kellin got up and pulled Vic up from the bed, holding him close as Vic started to cry on his shoulder. His whole shirt could be soaked in Vic’s tears and he wouldn’t care.
