Wal-Mart's Low Wages When people think about discount super stores, the top well-known discount super stores for people in the United States and around the world is Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart is the largest retailer in the United States. It is a single store that people are able to get everything, such as groceries, clothes, medicine, electronic devices, and so on. Also, Wal-Mart is well known for being a discount super store, which that offers the lowest prices. The founder of Wal-Mart is Sam Walton. In 1962, He opened his first Wal-Mart store in Rogers, Arkansas. Wal-Mart became the first private sector company in the world, and more than 100 million shoppers a week as of 1999. Also, Wal-Mart was expected to exceed $200 billion a year in sales by 2002. There are strategies that Wal-Mart has been using to make the company successful, and one of them is keeping the prices low. According from what I have heard from people around me, the reason why they go shopping at Wal-Mart is because the prices are low. They do not need to spend more money at other places to get the same products. However, how can Wal-Mart is able to offer many of the lowest price products? Some people might not concern about this. Wal-Mart has been using the strategy to keep the cost of products low by taking advantage from people.
