When I was in fifth grade, our school had this little thing called the Wax Museum project. And, if it were not for my teacher guiding me, I would have never learned how to express my creativity, much less would I be here, typing this. In the Wax Museum Project, each person got the name of a historical figure, whom they would, firstly, create a poster board about, and, secondly, give a presentation about in front of other parents. It would work like a wax museum (thus the name), where we would stand still until someone dropped a coin in our jar, when we would speak our presentation. I got William Shakespeare, the well known 16th Century playwright. I did my poster board in a few days, not at all having any creative ideas, so I just got facts
A new exhibit on the history of crime in Lake County, “Crime and Punishment”, is open for the summer at the Courthouse Museum in Lakeport. Stagecoach robbers, a notorious sneak thief and a gang of murderous miners are featured in the same building their sentences were handed out.
The Scarborough Museum is an educational place to visit in Toronto. People can learn about the history of Canadian families living in Canada during the early 1900’s and how they survived throughout the seasons. The Scarborough Museum is situated on a piece of land that once belonged to the Thomson Family. It has houses that had come from other parts of Scarborough. One of the house being the Cornell house. In the kitchen, there is a stove which has multiple purposes; for cooking food and for keeping the house warm during the winter time. Learning about the stove was interesting because it shows

Sequestered away amongst the red brick buildings of Old Louisville lies a neighborhood of colorful mansions and old world charm. Wrought iron gates enclose the private stone courtyards, and small cottage gardens decorate the verandas. The bronze fountain of Venus fills the neighborhood with the serene ambiance of water, and the gentle flicker of gas lamps light the sidewalks at night.
The Goodwood museum is a plantation house from the 1830’s and had several different owners. It features original furniture in the main house, none of what of it was brought in (all of it was found in the house when it became a museum). Everything was original including paintings, furniture, and the chandeliers. Outside of the main house, you can see a porch that was added during the early 1900’s. The main house consisted of three stories, the bottom being for entertainment: the living room, office, and dining room. These rooms featured beautiful furniture and painted ceilings (which were painted by italian painters). There was a bookshelf that consisted of books from that time, one being a first edition Edgar Allen Poe book. In the dining
Originally, I planned on taking the one hour drive to the Charles H. Wright Museum. I imagined that my field trip to that particular museum would be beneficial to both myself furthermore, my paper. I visited the Ypsilanti Historical Museum instead, having little awe during my observational trip. First and foremost everywhere I glanced I wanted to see a black face sadly, that did not happen in my favor. This museum definitely appeals to the eye for creativity plus their modernization. The notable African Americans the museum did hold were placed in a glass case, indubitably separated (maybe I just make everything a racial thing, but nowadays it is hard not to). Also, I can count on one hand how many African American females I witnessed in a
Montreal's Grevin Waxwork Museum is an incredible place to observe figures of Canadian cultural icons. Theses wax statues look so real that you are forced to give them a second glance. Spare 2 hours for a complete session. These realistic characters will capture your attention in no time. Whether it is baseball icons from its Montreal Expo section or icons from the Québec province, you will appreciate them all. As a matter of fact, the Hollywood ballroom is certainly worth the visit for its grandeur. The location of Grevin Waxwork Museum is excellent, as it is right inside the Eaton Center, a historic mall with a glass ceiling. If you want to dine nearby, then you must visit Nickels Deli, for casual Canadian dining. Other places worth trying
One of the first projects we did in that class this year was to make a presentation to the rest of the class about a branch of the humanities that we were interested in studying including an artifact from that branch that we thought was important. My branch was History and my artifact was the Declaration of Independence.
When I visited the Ringling Museum of Art it always surprises me to see the amount of people that go to visit from different backgrounds and of all ages. This recent visit there were mainly just people of little to no art background except there was a group of college students along with a professor from the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee campus there viewing the art and took a tour along with me. I talked with them and as I saw there reaction to each gallery it was fascinating. They were amazed by the sight and described it as “ elegant and beautiful” and when they viewed the artwork unclose with only a few inches from the canvas to evaluate the small details of each piece. Inbound this very interesting so I began to do this
The day of the 5th grade wax museum of the 2012-2013 school year at Polenta Elementary. It was spring, but the temperature outside was in the 80s. I was playing as Paul Revere which I was the only girl to do so. When other kids would come and press the button on my hand I would speak my lines that I had learned to say from the research I had done. I sat between Pocahontas and JFK, two figures that weren't even in the same time period as Paul Revere had been.
The purpose of this paper is to visit The Metropolitan Museum of Art and write a reaction paper about art works at the museum based on my impressions about them. To begin, I will start by giving you a little of background information about this interesting museum.
Do you have that car guru on the trip? Don’t worry the Okoboji Classic Car Museum is the place for you. Not only are you able to see some classic cars, but also replicated streets of what Spencer, Iowa, and Arnolds Park, Iowa use to look like in the 1950-1960’s, complete with a bar, hand painted murals, and a drive in movie theater. Tobie Shine, the owner, also has men and women working hard on restoring and fixing old cars. Maybe your wife will let you take a car home!
The chemistry that skiers use is ski wax. This wax helps the skiers to control how their skies perform under certain conditions. The type of ski wax depends on the type of snow they will encounter while skiing. Chemicals in some wax help skis go smoother down the mountains. The wax repels water that is on the skis as they go down the snow. On the other hand, cross country skiers must go uphill as well as down hill, so their wax has to grip the snow while going uphill. There are two formulas for ski wax, one that makes skis faster, and another that helps it grip. Wax contains one or more hydrocarbons. The molecules are made from a chain of hydrogen and carbon atoms. The first layer of wax on the skis connects with the bottom to keep out dirt
You might spring for the extra buck or two to get your vehicle waxed when you take it to a car wash, but do you bother with waxing it at home? If you like washing your ride in your yard or driveway, don’t skimp on the waxing step of the project. There are good reasons to do this task aside from making the car look shiny and new – unless, of course, your car has a matte or flat finish, in which case it shouldn’t be waxed or polished.
