Without the unity of citizens, there is no nation. We stand together for moral values, freedom, respect, and justice. Our nation has survived and prosper because we follow the guidelines in our constitution and perform our duties as Americans. I agree that we should obey the laws set forth by our government, pay taxes in order to keep the government funded, and to defend our nation from both foreign and domestic threats. Without following these duties, we jeopardize our nation in becoming divided, unlawful and vulnerable .
Laws are placed for many reasons, whether it’s for public safety or to keep the government funded. Anyone living or planning to move to the United States should understand that they should follow the laws in place. Without having laws, and enforcing them properly, you leave a door open for chaos to occur. Murder, fraud, not paying taxes, which would make the country unlivable, would occur if we didn’t have laws in place.The United States has survived over 200 years in part because we follow and obey the laws, and when we disagree with some of them, we vote and make our voices heard with civil disobedience. They (government) used it on Social Security, defense, and nondefense items like schools, transportation and housing assistance. The importance of paying taxes is something US Citizens and residents should understand. We wouldn't have public schools that are funded enough, our roads would look like rocks stacked together, and our elderly would struggle to live. Just by ourselves, we wouldn’t be able to pay constantly for things we need, but putting our money together as a nation makes us have these things. I as a citizen do not only have the obligation, but the duty to have a voice within my government. I must raise my voice to be heard when it is needed, I must say what I feel and speak the truth at all times no matter what the circumstances may be. As a citizen it is my job to be involved within my community, whether it is from the smallest deed or to something much larger, we not only as individuals but as a nation must stand together to make our government not only as great as it can be, but as strong and reliable as possible.
After the tragic incidents displayed on 9/11, Americans came to together as ONE nation united. Some gathered in church and synagogues while others in community centers and homes to show strength and support for our nation. For our country, we echoed to the rest of the world ‘United We Stand.’
All of the money that the British collected from this tax was used to pay for defending the colonies and paying off Britain’s debt (Stamp Act Powerpoint). Britain’s debt was caused by the French and Indian War, where the colonists were not allowed to have the land they had won. The colonists did not benefit at all from the taxes they paid. In the U.S. now, our taxes are used to pay for maintaining our roads, schools, libraries and other public facilities. We benefit from our taxes. The troops were supposedly there to protect the colonists, but they feared the army might be used against them (Quartering Act Powerpoint). They felt they did not need to be protected, especially since there were no British troops in the colonies before the French and Indian war. They had been unharmed without protection before, and did not understand why they needed it then.
“We the People of the United States, in order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish the Constitution for the United States of America.” Without the right that the Constitution brings us, we wouldn’t have rights therefore the United States wouldn’t be a good place to live in. The Constitution brings us the right of freedom of speech (first amendment) , the right to bear arms (second amendment), and the right to protect against unreasonable government actions such as search and seizure of person property (fourth amendment). Being an American citizen means that you have rights that they would like you to fulfil. As an American citizen is it voluntary to vote, but others are required such as obeying the law and paying taxes. The Magna Carta, John Locke’s Second Treatise of Government, and the Petition of Rights explains the rights and the responsibilities of an American citizen.
The United States borrows money from individuals that have bought Treasury Bills, Notes, Bonds, and United States Savings Bonds. The U.S. government also borrows money by issuing Treasury securities. These securities finance expenditures that exceed its receipts, and are legal under the authority of the Second Liberty Bond Act. The government's primary source of income is through taxes paid by its citizens. Supposedly, money is spent on programs that government officials consider necessary to ensure the best quality of life for all (or at least the majority) of the nation's citizens. Americans are a united force that can not be broken apart and will do anything for other fellow Americans. From the use of heart wrenching pathos in Lincoln’s Second Inaugural Address and The Quilt of a Country: Out of Many, One? by Anna Quindlen to the immaculate lighting in the beautifully famous painting George Washington Crossing the Delaware by Emanuel Gottlieb Leutze, we can see that American people will always unite and stick as one. Americans will stick together after a horrendous event has occurred or when there is beauty to rejoice about.
Washington reminds the Americans the importance of remaining united. He addresses the citizens by proclaiming, “The name of American, which belongs to you in your national capacity, must always exalt the just pride of Patriotism, more than any appellation derived from local discriminations (21).” He continues by acknowledging the achievement of independence and liberty was due to working together as one. Therefore, Americans, as a unified nation should guard and preserve the union of the nation. He is talking about citizens of the United States, whether naturalized or by birth, should put America above all. And that the very name, American, should conjure up strong patriotism. This new nationalistic uprising in the United States has come with a price - a huge increase of hate crimes under the guise of nationalism and the “Make America Great Again” slogan from the current presidential administration.
The federal government puts tax on everything, this allows them to take a percentage of our money away from us and use it for the country. Right now the US in debt and can’t afford to run this country alone. They use our money for several things everyday. However, there are limits to what the can tax such as; they can not tax Church services because it goes against our first ammendment right.

The Federalist papers outline four “principal purposes” of a union that would strength the nationality of the United States. These purposes are limited to four broad objects: “[1] the common defense of the members; [2] the preservation of the public peace, as well against internal convulsions as external attacks; [3] the regulation of commerce with other nations and between the States; [4] the superintendence of our intercourse, political and commercial, with foreign countries” (Federalist 23). By providing security from foreign danger and civil discord, political comity and public spiritedness was also possible. As was stated in Federalist No. 11 “A unity of commercial, as well as political, interests can only result from a unity of government” (Peacock). Our country was built with the support of millions of other americans that sacrificed everything they had to help build this nation. A lot of them died, and most lost their belongings. If it wasn’t for their bravery, sacrifice, and teamwork we wouldn't have the United States of America. The most important tools for establishing and preserving our freedoms would be teamwork and rules.
Legal immigration law are making it hard for people to get in this country to have a good future with their families or to have good job opportunities. Some reasons why legal immigration laws should be less stricter is because some people from their original nation might have been threatened with killing family members or other things. Another reason it should be less stricter is because if the laws are to strict, people are going to try break them so they can get what they want, but if they are not as strict not many people would break the law.
