F orgive me, father, for I have sinned,” Chandler said to the priest, who was listening to him from other side of the confession, “It has been almost a good four or five months since my last confession, and these are my sins.” After the priest allowed Chandler to openly admit all the sinful things that he has done, the priest then gave him penance. Next, once Chandler the Fair was finally finished praying, he then left the confessional, where his fellow Catholic accomplices were waiting outside for him, taking turns to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. During Case “We Will Not Forget Them,” Chandler, Action Andy, Percival Richardson, Sharon Lockhart, Timothy MacDonald, Kenneth Green, and Ryan Boyd were the assigned Nightingales. Composed of exactly twenty four (24) people, this combined group was then referred to by the RGA leadership as “ZbV (Zur besonderen Verwendung) Gruppe ‘Accardo’”, or “Special Purpose Group ‘Accardo’” …show more content…
But getting back to your question, Brenda, you and Siegfried need to bear in mind that the biggest litmus test that defines the parameters of Protestant spiritual thought revolves around the idea of Sola Scriptura, or ‘scripture alone’ in Latin. Indeed, as the name itself implies, Sola Scriptura means disregarding all other forms of teachings, and relying firmly what the bible says. Although it goes without saying that while the Bible does in fact contain vast amounts of wisdom and knowledge, in the eyes of the Protestant, the interpretation of everything within this important work lies solely at the discretion of the individual. To be frank, there’s an unintended side effect on having biblical interpretations be decided and interpreted by just
Upon Florence's return from the Crimean war, she had developed the foundation for what is known today as evidenced based practice (EBP). This theory reflected her ideals of health care and nursing practice. Florence was determined that the senseless deaths from poor standards of care she witnessed during the Crimean war should never occur again. She called on the Royal Commission to investigate the causative factors for the high number of deaths. Florence worked closely with a team of experts and set out to examine the causative factors. Florence had a "philosophy that favored a systemic approach…for Nightingale, this entailed the best possible research, access to the best available government statistics and expertise, and the collection of new material where the existing stock was low. Nightingale's leadership style was very much knowledge based" (McDonald, 2001, p. 68).
These courageous nurses had to sacrifice much of their lives to provide care for our
Since the Protestants were more concerned about the doctrine than devotion, it is fascinating to note that they used Bible to feel protected against the Devil. To a great extent, it does make sense, but the question is if they relied more on the power of God or the power of the word of God. (pg. 292)
According to Christianity, special revelation is located in the Bible, and Jesus Christ himself. Other world religions have their own sacred books as well. For each of these religions, the nature of scripture is very different. Apart from the considerations of historical accuracy and textual transmission, there is an even more fundamental set of distinctions in how scriptures are viewed in their own setting that make for a strong incompatibility between the Bible and other world scriptures. The ignoring of this reality is called the “Protestant Fallacy”. This fallacy is committed when protestant Christians try to apply their understanding of the role of the Bible to other religions and their holy writings. Observing the proper distinctions
It was interesting to learn by reading this book that Dr. Hahn grew up as a Presbyterian, yet later converted to Catholicism. He got an early taste in life of what confession means when he was caught shoplifting records growing up in Pittsburgh, PA. In Chapter 1 (Getting Our Stories Straight), there is an excerpt of the chapter titled the Pittsburgh Stealer where he explains how he disappointed his father and how he viewed him in a different light after he confronted him about shoplifting. His father was no longer just a judge, jury, and executioner, but represented God’s fatherhood to him because he realized he had broken his father’s heart. “I wish I could say that this was the moment of my conversion to Christ---a dazzling and sudden
“In these conditions, it was not surprising that in army hospitals, war wounds only accounted for one death in six. Diseases such as typhus, cholera, and dysentery were the main reasons why the death rate was so high amongst wounded soldiers” (Spartacus, 2011, ¶ 10). Nightingale went on to establish sanitary guidelines to improve nursing quality, statistical ways of obtaining data, and most importantly environmental factors to improve patient quality. What we know of Florence Nightingale is that although she was born into a wealthy family, she had a different drive in her life towards helping other humans. Nightingale demonstrated pure altruism, but why? What constitutes for her behaviors and traits, there must be a key to unlocking the personality development of Florence Nightingale.
Packet 2 (Vocabulary) Queen Elizabeth - (7 September 1533 – 24 March 1603) Queen Elizabeth was the queen of Ireland. She made Britain (England) a world power by defeating the Spanish Armada and starting a program for British exploration and colonization, and she also sponsored exploration voyages, and the establishment of colonies overseas. She made the Church of England the middle way between Catholics, and Protestants. Spanish Armada - Spanish Armada is also known as the “Great and Most Fortunate Navy” or the “Invincible Fleet”. It was a fleet of 130 Spanish ships under the command of Duke of Medina Sidonia in 1588.
For as it soon turned out, the Nightingales of Action Andy Accardo have come to pick up the ones that were left behind. When the Nightingales were finally in the compounded, they were greeted by their fellow Kameraden and the FYC who had intercepted them. In exchange for letting their Kameraden go, along with the assurances of not having any unexpected strings attached (such as the bargaining away of other Ryanite relics in the RGA’s control), the Nightingales were told that their colleagues take what they were trying to steal from the FYC the night before. Therefore, they will have to go empty
Do not be misinformed everything said in the church is not focused only in the spirit, Jesus wanted to separate the religion out of living right. When Jesus explained the concepts of the kingdom of God to the Jews, he used parables (short-stories) as well to make it easier to understand. So there will be a lot of metaphors and referencing when it comes to understanding, but it is as centered about studying the “Word” (which is the bible), prayer, and fasting. However, even in this some members fall short of doing this, I myself am not excluded (but not
We propose with the use of a formalized on boarding system and the establishment of a culture champion, JustSave stores will be able to further integrate with their local community and promote the mission and values of “We Truly Care…”. This culture champion would lay the foundation for new hosts neighborliness, provide continuous behavior feedback for new hosts and be a key participant in a store’s community organizations and events.
Solo and Sola Scriptura are two Protestant positions. Solo Scriptura is the rejection of all spiritual authority. “No one is infallible in his interpretation of Scripture” (Mathison, 240). When something is infallible it is incapable of making mistakes or being wrong. Sola Scriptura is the teaching that the only infallible thing is the Bible. In both of these Scripture is a main part of the beliefs which is why the way that the Scripture is analyzed is important. Some of the traditions that come from traditions come from history and the origin of the Scripture. The Historical Critical Method is the comparing of text with other text from the same region and time period which would affect the text, and could cause question.
On this, the 500th Anniversary of the Protestant Reformation, it's fitting to urge Reformed believers everywhere to get back to Scripture, the Word of God alone and obey Him; but that will entail correcting serious longstanding errors in Reformed theology. While I could give more than a few examples of those errors, I cite the following specifically because it contradicts the message of the Cross. Reformed “theology” teaches Calvin's so called "third use of the law" that “the law has been abrogated as a covenant of works, but not as a rule of life” and subsequently it also teaches, “The Law is a rule of life for believers” but where can you find such notions taught in Scripture? Nowhere, they’re man made doctrines; “Do not add to His words…” Proverbs 30:5-6; Deuteronomy 4:2; 12:32; Proverbs 30:5-6; Revelation 22:18-19.
The Bible is not a book of religions or rituals. Rather, the Bible is a library of 66 books—39 of which are known as the Old Testament and 27 books referred to as the New Testament—that reveals God’s divine plan of redemption, reconciliation, salvation, restoration and renewal of the whole world. The Bible can be read as a great literature, or as a history of Israel, or as a source of theological information. Though it is all of these things, none of them does full justice to Scripture as being authoritative. God has all authority, and we accept the Bible as the primary authority by which God communicates to us what He wants us to believe and to do. N.T. Wright’s book theorizes that Scripture is authoritative in that “the authority of
During the team formation, a number of challenges manifested. Firstly, it was the fact that there were nurses from other units. Hence, there were fears that they may not be well informed with procedures undertaken in our unit. However, this challenged was effectively addressed by assigning the nurses from other units a nurse from our unit to help her during the emergency period.
The Free Will Baptists had a similar view of Scripture. The Baptist Confession states that both the Old and New Testaments were written by men through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. The Scriptures are sufficient, infallible, and without error. It also concludes that the Scriptures are a sufficient guide to salvation (FWB I). The Philadelphia confession differs in this regard to the Scriptures as it states the Scriptures are not sufficient “to give that knowledge of God and his will which is necessary unto salvation” (PCF I.1). Both confessions view Scripture as authoritative, but the difference concerning salvation will become more apparent as will be seen in the further doctrines.
