Events Leading to war
The Boston Tea Party took place in Boston, December 16, 1773. The Boston Tea Party started because England had made the tea taxes really high without telling people and because England didn’t do a manuel vote. England had a monopoly so therefore there was no point in raising the taxes .The patriots were angry because their taxes were raised. So the patriots

They raised taxes on everything such as airplane cards, and other goods. The king did this because England was on debt so to get money they raised prices. Patriots were mad because when the king raised prices and taxes , Patriots thought that there was no point of that. The patriots also realised that they had no voice so the king didn’t care. So when a loyalist said that was fine, patriots would get hot tar and feathers so they can pour it on the loyalists. But the patriots still didn’t have a voice, to the king.
This is the symbol of the stamp act and the date.
There were more things that brought up the war such as the French and Indian war which was located Louisiana. But if I were to mention everything I would be able to make a book!
After war [ Patriots and Loyalists]
Loyalists
After the war loyalists became Americans.Patriots ,that were now called Americans, were deciding if they should expel them or let them live among them. At one point the loyalists were considered traitors. Then harsh, strict, laws came
In the late 1700s the colonists threw tea into the boston harbor because of the tax on tea. The American revolution could have been avoided if the British weren't so controlling. Because they made it so only the colonists could only sell to England or other English colonies. The British put taxes on almost everything such as tea, glass, lead, stamps, sugar, molasses, paper, paint and more goods.
“These are the times that try men’s souls.” Thomas Paine said this during the times leading up to the Revolutionary War. These times include: Navigation Act, French and Indian War, Sugar Act, The stamp Act, Boston Massacre, Townsend Act, The Boston Tea Party, and the Intolerable Acts. All of these events are important in leading to the Revolutionary War. This essay will go into detail about the events leading up to the Revolutionary War. Starting with, the Navigation Act. The Navigation Act was the first event leading up to the Revolutionary War. The Navigation Act is where British parliament passed a series of navigation acts. These navigation acts limited colonial trade by using the system of mercantilism. This also forbade the
In 1773 parliament passed the tea act in which the British pay less for tax to ship places. This made the prices of tea lower from Britain. Since Boston's tea would be more expensive nobody would buy it from them. The tea act was just another problem adding up between the colonists and britain. This made the colonists want to be independent from Britain. The colonists decided to rebel and dumb three hundred and forty two chests of tea into the Boston Harbor. The act was given the name the Boston Tea Party. Most of the British thought of the Boston Tea Party as an act of terrorism. Really the Boston Tea Party was just another step to independence for the colonists.
The Boston Tea Party happened on December 16, 1773. The sons of liberty boarded 3 ships and dumped tea into the Boston harbor. They did this because of the British oppression. The British said they would have to pay all the tea off or the harbor will be closed.
The Boston Tea Party was when a group of colonists dressed up as Native Americans and marched onto a ship in the Boston Harbor. The boat contained imported tea from Great Britain. The colonists were still angry that their was a tax on tea so they threw all of it overboard the ship. The British then became mad at the colonists and created more laws to punish them.
Others, would not follow in such vile acts if there were any casualties. These people would be more known as Loyalists for they would not betray Britain and the Loyalists had a valid reason for siding with Britain, as they thought logically in what the outcome would result in. Britain had all the strengths to win this war, the finances, best military, navy and soldiers, and larger amount of people. Patriots did not have the finances or a strong military to be able to have a chance to win the war. Loyalists also were making deciding to stay loyal because they did not agree with the Patriots. They were actually pleased with the way Parliament was
The American Revolution is a vital part in U.S history, but what caused it? To begin, Britain, like most countries at the time, were sending men to live and colonized the unexplored Americas. Long story short, after fighting the French-Indian War with Britain, the colonists wanted the British to back off, but the British wanted more control over them after all the money they invested in the colonies. As a result, this tension between the British and colonists would spark the beginning of a revolution. This revolution began at the Battle of Lexington and Concord; Thomas Gage, governor of Massachusetts, sent troops to try to arrest John Hancock and Samuel Adams, who at the time were setting up a provisional government around Gage and were also
The Boston Tea Party took place on December 16, 1773. The event took place in Boston. The Boston Tea Party happened because the colonist felt like they should not have to pay taxes on British tea. It was also a response to the Tea Act. The tea act was an act placed on the colonist that only the British India Company could sell tea to them.
The Boston tea party was assembled by the Sons of Liberty on Thursday December 16th 1773 around 7:00 to 10:00 PM put on in front of a crowd of over 5,000 people this was an act of defiance of the Americas to Britain to the Tea Act of 1773, as well as taxation without representation or more well known as the Townshend Act of 1767. However it was just not these two factors which lead them to do this it was also the thought of Britain charging the colonists more for tea, ink, and many other things, in order to pay for the troops fighting in the French and Indian War. So at first Britain was making everyone pay over price on tea so the colonists started smuggling tea from Dutch and other European tea makers. These things violated
The Boston Tea Party was one of the first acts of defiance by the American Colonists against Great Britain. It was also an event that led to the independence of America. The Tea Party took place in the winter of December 16, 1773 in Boston, Massachusetts. In this event, American settlers did not want to pay the raising taxes of tea and other goods to the British Parliament, which led to the colonists sneaking on boats dressed as Native Americans, where they dumped 342 chests of tea into the Boston Harbor. The Boston Tea Party was an act of terrorism under the Patriot Act because: they conspired to dump the tea into the harbor, attempted, and succeeded in dumping the tea into the harbor, and had the intent of committing a crime by carrying
When did the Boston Tea Party take place you may ask? The Boston Tea Party lasted approximately 3 hours on December 16, 1773. Which this time of year in Massachusetts it is extremely cold at night. I bet now you’re wondering why it’s called The Boston Tea party, or why does it contain the word tea. Did we really have a fight over tea? The Boston Tea Party didn’t get this name til the 1820’s. Before then is was called the destruction of the tea.
This was a against Britain and France that the colonies originally fought, and Britain decided to send troops to help the colonies. After the war Britain was deep in debt. Instead of taxing the residents of Britain, he taxed the colonies heavily. They felt like the King was being unfair, and that they shouldn’t have to pay for the war because they did most of the fighting. This started more rebellions around the colonies. This argument was going throughout Britain citizens and the colonies. Both sides felt like the other should pay for the war and they should not spend any money on the war. To sum it all up, the King taxing them even more because of the war led them even closer to another
Taxation was a big problem and a cause of the Revolutionary War. First, “With the French and Indian War over, many colonists saw no need for soldiers to be stationed in the colonies. Britain also needed money to pay for its war debts. The King and Parliament believed they had the right to tax the colonies. They protested, saying that these taxes violated their rights as British citizens,”(www.historyisfun.org). The Colonist felt they didn't have the same rights as British citizens because they were being taxed for Britain's war dept and taxes. Meaning the Colonist were taxed for Britain's war debts. The French spent 1.3 billion livres on war costs. Britain was wrong for taxing the Colonist for their war dept,
Victory in the french and indian war was costly for the british. At war’s conclusion in 1763, king George 111 and his government looked to taxing the American colonies as a way of recouping their war cost, they thought that people want to pay tax, then to give up their tea(Pamela 1). The British also looked for ways to renew control over the colonial government that had became highly independent while the crown was distracted by the war. The Americans came to begin a new life, one of fulfillment and reward. These men and women did not like the life of harassment by others they did not share the same beliefs. These settlers did not like life where their socialist government made the masses conforms to their economic demands. In 1764 parliament taxed everything made from sugar this was known as the Sugar Act(Burgan 1). They taxed honey, silk, wine and coffee. One year later the Stamp Act begun. In 1765 parliament taxed all printed things. They raised the price of newspapers, mortgages, licenses, and playing cards.
When the Boston Tea Party occurred on the evening of December 16,1773, it was the culmination of many years of bad feeling between the British government and her American colonies. The controversy between the two always seemed to hinge on the taxes, which Great Britain required for the upkeep of the American colonies. Starting in 1765, the Stamp Act was intended by Parliament to provide the funds necessary to keep peace between the American settlers and the Native American population. The Stamp Act was loathed by the American colonists and later repealed by parliament.
