Were the American Colonists Justified in Waging War and Breaking Wway from Britain?

In 1763, the French and Indian War ended, leaving Great Britain with large debts. In order to help with the debt, Great Britain passed laws to tax the colonists. The colonists were furious. Were the American colonists justified in waging war and breaking away from Britain? Yes, the American colonists were justified in waging war to break away from Britain because the British Parliament was over taxing the colonists, the colonists were forced to stay on the East side of the Appalachian Mountains, and they had to pay to house and care for British soldiers.

I believe the Founding Fathers were justified in rebelling against the British Government and declaring war. It all started prior to the French and Indian war (1756-1763), the colonists possessed substantial self-reliance and liberty. Following the conflict, the British Empire strongly challenged the self-reliance and liberty, and also resolved that the colonists directly pay taxes into the imperial chest to help reduce the huge debt from the war.

Joseph Warren (Doc 4) first showed the need for war when he brought to attention that the Redcoats were established among us though we were in a time of peace. Warren and the colonists knew that Britain would be corrupt again with taxes that were “unfair and unconstitutional.” During the Second Continental Congress, colonists laid out several of the faults of Great Britain, including: giving/granting money without their consent, suspending the legislature of one colony, and interdicting all commerce. By laying out these faults, the colonists were able to show that their grievances were not just about taxes, it were these factors plus many more that led the Second Continental Congress to decide on whether they were to go declare of not, and they were (Doc 5). Only a year after the Second Continental congress, famous writer Thomas Paine wrote “Common Sense.” This piece went into detail as to why England shouldn’t rule America and helped support Congress’ decision to fight. One of Paine’s main points was that it’s absurd for an island to rule a continent. With support from the Congress and famous intellectuals like Thomas Paine, the revolutionary movement was in full swing and “no taxation without representation” helped bring the colonists’ thinking around to how they deserved to be treated (Doc

American colonists should support the Declaration of Independence and the Patriots in the Revolutionary War. Great Britain was taxing the American colonists because of Britain’s great debt from the French and Indian War. Britain made the quartering act, the stamp act, townshend act, and the tea act. This is taxation without representation and it was unjust. The Patriots were angry and rightfully so. The King was making the colonists pay taxes on imported goods to decrease his country’s debt, the Patriots were outraged and wanted freedom.

-It it clear and reasonable that the declaration was made for many causes that weren’t being attended because of the British thinking that even the lowest class in the military was above the civil law of the colonies, and that no one should immigrate to such a place, taking away so many laws from the people making them pay high taxes well mainly the rich for the lands they owned which was good in a way but for all those who wrote the declaration that mainly had a lot of land it was horrible, but for the poor folk it was good in a way but not even for the poorest of peasants to be able to trade with other merchants from other countries ruined the economy in the colonies. Great Britain was the only country and place they could and would trade to it was illegal for the colonists to be able to make money by trading their raw material with any other country.

According to the Declaration Of Independence, abuse of the representative powers and their natural rights gave the people the right to eliminate their current government and create a new one. Thomas Jefferson outlines the mistakes of the British government, and asserts that citizens were restricted of natural rights. In such case, during the American Revolution, colonies had the right to get rid of their government because the king was not rightly protecting the citizens rights. Not only that, but direct taxes were enforced upon the citizens leading to acts being passed in opposition to the rebellion. All things considered, I would say that the American Revolution was justified under the Declaration of Independence.

How did the colonists manage to triumph in their battle for independence despite Great Britain’s military might? If any of these factors had been different, how might it have affected the outcome of the war?

I believe the colonists were justified in rebelling against the British, because of the abusive king and British parliament, the taxes without representation, the laws without consent of colonists (such as the Quartering Act), and deaths of the colonists in brutal events, such as the Boston Massacre. All these events combined caused outrage throughout the colonies (such as the Boston Tea Party, and tarring and feathering of British officials), and sparked a rebellion that would change the history of the colonies forever.

Imagine everything that is said is heard in a British accent. It sounds funny now, but that's how it could have been if the colonists had never declared their independence from England. That isn't what happened though. Grievances were made, events came to pass, and the Declaration of Independence was written. Taking a look at the documents from that time, as well as treatment of other colonies by the British one can see that the colonists were completely justified in declaring their independence from England.

In conclusion, the Colonists were very justified in waging war as they were being over taxed, being ruled from across the sea, and weren’t being taken seriously. The main reason was that the King was no longer for his people and was for the money instead. They were rightly justified because a leader of a country should always be for his people. These reasons helped the Colonists because it gave them a reason to keep going when things got tough. Many factors contributed to the British losing the American Revolutionary War. By the 1770’s the American colonists were not socially, religiously, or culturally connected to Britain. The colonists has their own ways of life and thus were not British by culture. The majority of the colonists had immigrated to America to escape the rigid class structures of Britain and Europe.

After the petition of the colonies stating that Great Britain should give consent when comes to taxes, we got response that if we don’t reverse our positions we will be dissolved to self-govern. When we didn’t reverse our positions, they immediately dissolved every single one of the assemblies, which is the most appalling decisions a king can do. You shouldn 't silence the voice of opposing concerns; not only does it shows that you want a quick and easy solution, but also that you rather be surround by people who only agrees with you. He dissolved assemblies from all thirteen colonies, with representatives for each one of them, which further prove how ignorant he is if that doesn’t give him a reason to at least negotiate. How can we make changes if I will be immediately kick off my own position, how will I be able to get my voice heard?
