The 2016 Presidential Campaign candidate, Bernie Sanders, believes in creating a better America. In proving to the American people, rich and poor, how great the country can be if all people vote for who is trusted best as future President of the United States. The political figures in government care about money and wealth, not the people. Bernard Sanders would be the best choice for President for the main reason that he is concerned about the issues in America that create inequality for the people. The issues addressed by this candidate will create social and economic equality.
Hello, my name is Susan Stewart. I am a member of the Wheatland High School Grad Night Committee. The committee is comprised of Volunteers who plan and facilitate the Safe and Sober Grad Night event for Wheatland High School graduates. Committee members are meeting with local community businesses and leaders like yourself, to ask if they would be interested in supporting an event aimed at keeping our local teens safe on such a celebratory night.
In The Other Wes Moore, the author discusses how seemingly trivial decisions dictate someone’s life. At the time, something may seem like a small matter, but even the most miniscule thought processes are determining factors in the grand scheme of things. Both Wes Moore’s could have lived completely different lives. As Wes, the author, said, “The chilling truth is that his story could have been mine. The tragedy is that my story could have been his.” (Moore 180). Every one of their actions was met with either a positive or negative reaction, bringing their lives to quite separate outcomes.
We are going to try to make it through our workshops, my little intro on David Foster Wallace and these two videos tomorrow. Might be a little too ambitious. These are wonderful videos, very uplifting, very important to the time we are living in. I think we are in for a fun week. The videos are listed below for your reference, and in case we do not make it through these tomorrow. You don't have to watch them. The first one is Wallace's commencement speech, the second is on meta-modernism in pop culture.
Welcome to our first stop on this tour, NAU, also known as Northern Arizona University! Most of you guys go to school here, but for those of you who come from somewhere else, here's a brief geologic description of this area, the amazing city of Flagstaff. Flagstaff has many geologic wonders and is found on the southern part of the Colorado Plateau. A small portion of Flagstaff's northeastern rocks are sedimentary, like limestone, dolostone, quartzite, and shale, which were all deposited in the Paleozoic Era. The north region of Flagstaff is mostly volcanic rocks, like basalt. However, the west region of Flagstaff is mostly made up of limestone and again, basalt. Some of the geologic wonders that you can see here in Flagstaff are the San Francisco
February 26, 2015, Treyvon Martin is shot and killed by George Zimmerman. One year later a jury would find Zimmerman not guilty of murder, sparking outrage and putting the spotlight on the suspicions borne by African Americans.
Hey Coach, Iowa State is going great. The classes are alright, but I enjoy going to most of them. I am taking advantage of the facilities and I am back in the weight room. All the techniques and lifts you taught me are really making it easier now that I am lifting without a coach. I thank you for all the time and effort you put into the lifting program so I know what I am doing here at Iowa State. The main reason that I am writing you is to share this with the seniors at North Scott High School. Particularly, the seniors who are struggling to pick the place they will be spending the next four years of their lives. It is the beginning of the school year and the seniors who already have a plan are ready to go but the seniors who don't are scared for the future. I encourage the
Wes Moore establishes his writing style quickly with an intriguingly dictated introduction. Every word carefully chosen to lay out how he came across this story. How intricately the story intersects not only his life but the life of a man with too many similarities to Wes including sharing his name. Wes Moore introduces the readers into his world with the utmost respect for the people in this intense anecdote while making sure that respect translates into interest and concern for the people, not boredom.
Thank you for your desire to help us make a difference in Des Moines. We are so very appreciative that people like you are willing to donate time, energy, and experience in a variety of areas, especially for this event.
Grant Matthews’s girlfriend Kay Thorndyke and Jim Conover want to make him the next President to do so the relationship between Mr. Matthews and Ms. Thorndyke has to end. To carry out this Mary Matthews joins her husband and travels with him, she supports her husband’s effort to help everyone in America, but also witnesses her husband be brainwashed by his campaign managers to target the influential politicians. Before her, infuriated monologue Mrs. Matthews let Mr. Matthews know that the kids and her would no longer be giving speeches because he wasn’t the man they knew, the man who would stand up for the poor now he was just as corrupt as the politicians he worked with, their goal to win the presidential elections, in this monologue she used emotional appeal to make Mr. Matthews understand that he had changed.
As you know, Columbia City is on the move. We are becoming bigger and better than ever. Within the last year we have added new eating establishments for family and friends to enjoy. There have been several upgrades to our historic downtown, including a beautiful new park in the heart of the city and cosmetic changes to several of our beautiful buildings. Our main roads are much more pleasant to drive down as Main Street and 109 have had recent upgrades. In addition, our fantastic town has many more projects in the works including a waterpark to attract area residence for some exciting recreation. Last but not least, the newest and most profound addition that will benefit the citizens of Columbia City for generations to come, a brand new, state of the art high school.
Perhaps a student has been turning up late for school. Maybe their clothes are wrinkled and stained from yesterday’s lunch break. They sit by themselves in every class. You try to help them but they ignore you. Their marks go down and their happiness depletes.
Society generalizes first world teenagers, describing them as trapped inside a bubble, shielded from harsh realities of impoverished nations and living with the delusions that their problems dominate all others. While this stereotype does not hold true for all young adults, the unfortunate truth remains: many do not count their blessings. Recently with our soccer team, we had the opportunity to visit Vista Maria, a home and school in Dearborn for girls ages 11 to 17 coming from abusive domestic environments, including sex trafficking and family deficiencies. Interacting with the bright and beautiful girls felt incredible and encouraged us and the team to truly understand how fortunate we live. This trip inspired us to plan on visiting Vista
Oil spills are a major problem in america, but the government doesn’t want you to know that. Just like how they didn’t want you to know that “People that worked on the 2010 oil spill cleanup have reported eye, nose, and throat problems, blood in the urine, seizures, vomiting, nausea, respiratory issues, skin problems, liver and kidney problems, nervous system damage, miscarriages, and other health problems.”(SoftSchools). Now imagine what will happen to the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe once their drinking water becomes toxic after putting in the Dakota Access pipeline. Although Trump and the big banks are supporting the Dakota Access Pipeline, activists like the Native Americans and stars like Shailene Woodley are standing up for what is right, such as clean water and peace.
The first televised presidential debate occurred 1960 between democratic candidate John F. Kennedy and republican candidate Richard Nixon. This debate was an incredibly special event to take place in the United States as it was, in fact, the first televised debate that American citizens could watch, instead of listening to fireside chats and radio shows. Because JFK and Nixon appeared on television, appearance became a larger factor in who the American people would choose as the next President. Moreover, media exposure started to play a larger role in the democratic process as a result of the televised 1960 debate. Overall, because of these reasons, this debate was seen as one of the most iconic presidential debates to be held in America.
