Our healthcare system needs major restructuring. Major improvements needs to begin with "all health care organizations, professional groups, and private and public purchasers should adopt as their explicit purpose to continually reduce the burden of illness, injury, and disability, and to improve the health and functioning of the people of the United States", (Crossing the ……, 2001).

6 aims proposed include:
• Safe—avoiding injuries to patients from the care that is intended to help them.
• Effective—providing services based on scientific knowledge to all who could benefit and refraining from providing services to those not likely to benefit (avoiding underuse and overuse).
• Patient-centered—providing care that is respectful of and responsive to individual patient preferences, needs, and values and ensuring that patient values guide all clinical decisions. …show more content…

• Efficient—avoiding waste, in particular waste of equipment, supplies, ideas, and energy.
• Equitable—providing care that does not vary in quality because of personal characteristics such as gender, ethnicity, geographic location, and socioeconomic status.

A health care system that improves on the 6 aims would ensure a fundamentally better care. care provided will be safer, reliable, effective, centered around their needs, timely, efficient and quality of care would not change because of their gender, ethnicity, location and socio-economic status.
With the new implemented laws, health care worker's dedication and good efforts would be rewarded with increased satisfaction at being better able to do their
