Our healthcare system needs major restructuring. Major improvements needs to begin with "all health care organizations, professional groups, and private and public purchasers should adopt as their explicit purpose to continually reduce the burden of illness, injury, and disability, and to improve the health and functioning of the people of the United States", (Crossing the ……, 2001).
6 aims proposed include:
• Safe—avoiding injuries to patients from the care that is intended to help them.
• Effective—providing services based on scientific knowledge to all who could benefit and refraining from providing services to those not likely to benefit (avoiding underuse and overuse).
• Patient-centered—providing care that is respectful of and responsive to individual patient preferences, needs, and values and ensuring that patient values guide all clinical decisions.

• Efficient—avoiding waste, in particular waste of equipment, supplies, ideas, and energy.
• Equitable—providing care that does not vary in quality because of personal characteristics such as gender, ethnicity, geographic location, and socioeconomic status.
A health care system that improves on the 6 aims would ensure a fundamentally better care. care provided will be safer, reliable, effective, centered around their needs, timely, efficient and quality of care would not change because of their gender, ethnicity, location and socio-economic status.
With the new implemented laws, health care worker's dedication and good efforts would be rewarded with increased satisfaction at being better able to do their
The Six Aims for Improvement are safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and patient centered (Crossing the Quality Chasm). Through these outlines, I will condense them based on relatability and their outlook on patient care.
quality of care. It also requires a review of the process of care and changes in the patients
Title three: making the quality and efficiency of health care in US to be of a higher standard. Under this title, the quality of medical care would be enhanced for every U.S citizen, mainly to those who were members of Medicaid and Medicare. A research was set to be conducted aim at mobilizing consumer on taking good care of their health. Accountable Care Organizations would also receive a percentage of the savings
Ensure access to quality, culturally competent care, including long-term services and supports, for vulnerable populations
The U.S. health care system faces challenges and it is urgent that the American people
-Timeliness: reduce waits and sometimes harmful delays for both those who receive care and those who give care.
The healthcare industry has many issues. Three key issues in healthcare are access, cost, and quality. Each play a different role and each are critical to the healthcare system. Reforming the healthcare industry is an increasingly complex challenge due to multiple layers of legislation already in place and the number of different stakeholders in the industry. When approaching reform, both federal and state governments have proposed legislation that would take steps toward better healthcare systems (Whiteford, & Weissman, 2017). The questions that needs to be asked are; is this enough and will it really help the healthcare system?
A health care system that achieves major gains in these six areas would be far better at meeting patient needs. Patients would experience care that is safer, more reliable, more responsive to their needs, more integrated, and more available, and they could count on receiving the full array of preventive, acute, and chronic services that are likely to prove beneficial. Clinicians and other health workers also would benefit through their increased satisfaction at being better able to do their jobs and thereby bring improved health, greater longevity, less pain and suffering, and increased personal productivity to those who receive their care.
In the reading I noted that The Institute of Medicine(IOM), found that patients were not satisfied with the quality of care that they received (Joel, 2013) I feel that the healthcare services for a patient should be that not only of a good quality but it should be cost effective, and make improvements for better outcomes with their overall health We have many organizations out there like NQF, NCQA, and TJC to help us with achieving this goal and maintaining a better quality of health with our patients and their needs.
patient centered, and understanding of the patient’s values and beliefs. There were some staff on
A growing number of initiatives are emerging to address these larger determinants of health and develop unified solutions within the context of the health care delivery system. In particular, a number of efforts
Since, we know current healthcare system is lacking consumer empowerment, so it will be the first issue to work on. The next thing we must work on is improving the education level of the upcoming healthcare professional. Lastly, we need to keep building on the current technology uses in healthcare. I think consumer empowerment will be good because it allows the patients to be more hands on with their medical process. The system will not just be provider decision it will include the patients. This will cause the provider to listen to the patients, and it may keep the patient from trying to self-treat themselves without having the provider input. I think this will provide a strong relationship between the patients and providers. We must correct the education level of the new physician because we have so many that has not learned the old way of working with patients and going the process of elimination. According to Fred, “Investigation showed that physicians with less than 10 years of experience have higher cost profiles than do physician with 40 or more years of experience.” This physician is the one to call for diagnostic tests before they can truly examine the patient. The same study states that only 14.9% of the responding institutions had a formal curriculum in cost-conscious care. I think more funding should be provided for different minorities group to help understand each lifestyle challenges. This may encourage other individuals to seek preventive care. Technology is very important in today societies and this will help bring all the future goals of the healthcare system together. We must be keeping building on healthcare technology that the HITECH act created to bring easy access to health care record by patients and providers. Technology is moving in the right direction because the people of the world is heavy use of
For example, empower and engage the community, strengthens governance and accountability, reorienting the model of care, and coordinate services within and across private and public sector. With the stated strategies, it could create an enabling environment, which provides and widen the number of beneficiary in the community including health promotion, prevention of acute and chronic disease, hence improving the quality of life in the country (Epstein & Street, 2011).
(2017). Basically, delivery system reforms must be implemented and intertwined with other reforms in order to provide the tools, resources, and incentives for both patients and providers, needed to assure better patient outcomes. The report mentions several other recommendations to improve our healthcare system, it is summarized from the Leaders’ comprehensive health care reform package.
These days, most health care organizations working hard to achieve the goal that was set up for, which a provision of adequate
