How Different Choices Would Could Have a Different Outcome In the classic English Shakespearian story of Romeo and Juliet. A pair of star-crossed lovers “Romeo and Juliet”, are forced through hardships so they could reach there “happily ever after”. But fate has a different plan for them as they retch there eventual end. This is a story shrouded in death and bloodshed despite having a comical and romantic feel. I am going to explain how this story could have ended differently if some key details would have changed. Let’s talk about one of the most obvious solutions. If the potion Juliet drank wasn’t so strong as to make her sleep that long. Now it’s obvious that Friar Laurence couldn’t have controlled exactly how much was in the potion due
In the two stories The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet and Pyramus and Thisby they both were star-crossed lovers and made their own choices throughout the stories. For example they chose to love each other even though they knew it wouldn't end well. Personal choices affect the characters more than destiny because they decided to get married and they killed themselves.
Romantic love stories are often ended with a tragedy, because of loss of passion or a loved one. These tragedies are often the result of one person’s actions that ended someone’s life or love. In the Romeo and Juliet play written by William Shakespeare, two citizens of Verona come together and fall deeply in love. Unfortunately their love comes to an end, along with their lives, because of a misunderstanding and a persistent feud between their families. Although there are many characters in this play that have contributed to Romeo and Juliet’s death, Friar Laurence is the person most to blame.
In Romeo and Juliet, adversity plays a large role in keeping the two star-crossed lovers apart, and after a short taboo romance, it is evident that their story ends in tragedy. The feud between their two families, both fate and destiny, encouragement from non-family members, and the deaths of the young couple, ultimately make this love story a tragedy.
In the events of the play, Juliet is faced with a dilemma of whether or not to leave her life behind to go live with Romeo. She has the option to take a vile to make it appear as though she were dead, so she can live with her love for the rest of her life without having to worry about her parents’ disapproval. When she is confronted with this decision, she thinks to herself, “What if it be a poison which the Friar / Subtly hath ministered to have me dead?” (4.3.25-26). This is among many doubts that cross her mind when she is contemplating her decision. During her situation, she envisages many things that could go poorly if she chooses to take the potion. In addition to fearing that the Friar could be poisoning her, Juliet also fears that
There are many reasons people have of what caused Romeo and Juliet’s death, but which reason is the best? Romeo and Juliet have a forbidden love that is traced by the feud between their families. There is no way to escape the fact that their families despise each other. Romeo and Juliet have a love for each other that no one can explain. They loved each other since first sight, and they would rather die than not be together. There are many good opinions about why Romeo and Juliet died, but which explains the whole story and not part of it? Is it fate? Their decisions? The family’s fault? Is is the natural flaws each character has? Not one person is to blame for this tragedy, but everyone is. Everyone that was involved
Gosh. It seems like the Friar doesn't want to take any responsibility for the part he played in the couple's tragedy. After all, Friar Laurence (a grown man who ought to know better) is the one who came up with the idea for Juliet to drink the sleeping potion that would make everyone think she was dead. He's also the guy who helped facilitate the couple's secret marriage.
Romeo and Juliet is a play of two young starstruck lovers that are destined for disaster. Romeo and Juliet are thirteen years old just teenagers. People who have relationships at such a young age are destined for trouble. The most destructive decision in Romeo and Juliet is Romeo deciding to court Juliet. If the two young lovers would not have captivated each other, destruction would not have broke out throughout the city of Verona. If Romeo would not have courted Juliet, then no death, premature love and dishonesty would have come about in Verona.
I said before no, and that is what i am saying now i do not think that other people's opinions should affect your own choices or destiny. I believe this because you should do what you want, what makes you happy. It doesn't matter what other people are thinking as long as you're happy with what you're doing in your life it shouldn't matter what others think. All of the stories that I read about star crossed lovers demonstrated this by being with the person that they were not allowed to see and that should have been their enemy.
Juliet who is only a 13 year old girl shows maturity throughout the entire play even more at the end. As she goes through a series of days of life changing decisions that has many thorough consequences. As she enters adulthood there are challenges facing her left and right. Right from the beginning of the play, where Juliet gets approached with the topic of marriage. Through to the middle where Romeo was banished and Tybalt was found dead. All the way to the end where she takes her life. Juliet, who has great courage to go be herself and stand up for the man she loves. Before we go to the end, we need to start from the beginning where Juliet is getting ready for the big party.
Shakespeare’s thoughts and ideals of the differences between generations are shown through the actions of the characters based upon the amount of past experiences and mistakes the characters have made. Romeo and Juliet make decisions with little to no thought of the consequences that will follow. The prince and his relative, Paris act with thought out swiftness. Capulet and Lady Montague show withdrawal when it comes to which path to take because of experiences that led them down the wrong one in the past. Shakespeare uses these six people to show the differences between generations and their thought process when it comes to decision making.
Personal choices impact life dramatically. In Romeo and Juliet the two keep their marriage a secret which is the main fallout of their story. Another example, would be Pyramus and Thisbe, they chose to run away and go to the tomb where they eventually kill themselves. The choices we make in life determine our destiny. Romeo and Juliet kept their marriage a secret from everyone because their love was forbidden; because of this it lead to death and heartbreak.
Romeo and Juliet could have had a whole different ending. Without the fake death of Juliet ,Romeo and Juliet would have lived happily ever after. Which means they died by individual choice. The tragedy of Romeo and Juliet was by individual choice. It was Romeo’s choice to die.
From Act 1 to Act 3 Juliet went from an obedient young women who does not know what she wants in life and allows her parents to make those decisions for her, to a young women making choices for herself and choosing not to listen to her parents. Juliet was looking to get married before she met Romeo, but it was to be with a man that her parents liked. Juliet, not knowing much about marriage, said she would agree if it would make her parents happy, “I’ll look to like, if looking liking move… Than your consent gives strength to make [it] fly.” (1.4.103-105). Meaning that she will learn to like him (Paris, the man her parents want her to marry) if it would make her parents happy. But later on once she meets and falls in love with Romeo, Juliet
Just as A Midsummer Night’s Dream could have easily ended in tragedy, Romeo and Juliet held the promise of a comedy until the point of collision. Romeo and Juliet promised their love to one another in secrecy, with the help of the Nurse and Friar, and united their love in procreation. However, fate was not working towards the benefit of the two lovers.
No matter how small or big, all of us make decisions every day that comes naturally to our lives. When making choices and decisions it is dependent on a person’s character and determines a direction, and it is imperative to make these with thought and judgment as it possibly can affect them positively or negatively. Utilizing the decisions made by the characters, Shakespeare builds upon these to form the actual tragedy in one of his most popular and known works, Romeo and Juliet. Throughout the story, important decisions are made, unfortunately, most are made without careful consideration or judgment that lead them to undesirable outcomes. Specific character behaviours can cause people to lose judgment, three of which are shown in the story like: letting their anger take over, their feeling of hopelessness, and basing your judgments for a lover in which these have affected the results.
