What Are The Similarities Between Lord Of The Flies And The Hunger Games

Both the Hunger Games and The Road are two books set in the same type of environment of being poor, explored choices of humans facing a test of humanity, impacted by human modernization and technology and emotional power. We will explore the different themes and compare the logic between the pages.

Another connection between these two texts is the protagonists being portrayed as underdogs. This is probably why I favoured the protagonists and wanted them to win their games (Hunger games and Hunting game). Both the texts have confident and ruthless villains that believe the victims are their puppets. In the Hunger Games, this is the Capital city and predominantly President Snow. It is The Capital who choose to run The Hunger Games and they believe that the tributes from the lower districts have a very slim chance at winning.

The two boys first introduced in the story, Ralph and Piggy, find all of the boys along the island and gather together realizing they're left on their own and can do whatever they want . The boys then create a structured civilization using a conch shell to communicate and lead but it doesn't quite work out. In the novel, “Lord Of The Flies” written by William Golding,the story supports the philosopher Thomas Hobbes’ theory of the “Ruthless Savage” because the boys are portrayed as bullies and careless. The movie “The Hunger Games” shows several of the same qualities as the novel “Lord Of The Flies”.

To begin with, The Hunger Games is the first book in the Hunger Games Trilogy, which is written by Suzanne Collins. The novel takes place in Penem, a make-believe future where the Capital is surrounded by districts. The districts are like slaves to the Capital, constantly wasting away under horrible living and working conditions in order to give away their rewards of working so hard to the Capital. Because of this, the districts are extremely poor.

This book will have you sitting at the edge of your seat on minute and then grabbing for a tissue the next. The nature and way humans behave has been sunk deep into our ancestors’ history and experiences. The many sides of human nature are present in all of mankind. The nature of mankind is explored by numerous texts. Two of these texts are Lord of the Flies and The Hunger Games. Both texts explore the nature of humans and how everyone has traits of them all.

The character, Simon, from Lord Of Flies compares to the character, Rue, from The Hunger Games. Both were very innocent and naive characters who were not able to survive in the story. Simon and Rue were put in a position they did not want to be in and they should not have been in. For example, Simon did not choose to be on the island or tumble into the pit and Rue did not choose to participate in the Hunger Games or die. When Rue was killed, Katniss had a very different reaction then Piggy and Ralph when Simon was killed. Katniss was sympathetic and melancholy. She was crying whereas Ralph and piggy blamed Simon for his death and called it an “accident.” Since Rue’s death, Katniss had a motivation to win the Hunger Games for Rue and her sister.

Characterisation plays a major role in both texts as each character serves as a representation humanity and the faults within it. Throughout 'Lord of the Flies ' there is a developing inequality among the characters as social order is established based on the strength and ability of each. Consequently the weakest of those characters are placed at the mercy of the strongest, in essence giving them the power that motivates their transformation from well-mannered British boys to unrestrained savages. Likewise inequality is demonstrated to the same extent within the 'Hunger Games ' as the weaker, less experienced tributes are hunted by the 'Careers ', a pack of brutal children who become natural and effective killers.

Compare and contrast Essay The lord of the flies story is a great story to watch and read however there's some differences in this story. The story was very creative and exciting to watch and read in the beginning they were all fine until towards the end the boys got heated with each other and decided to split and go separate ways but never stayed on their own side of the island. Jack and his hunters were very savage in the book and in the film they rarely listened to anything except Jacks orders i dislike the end because i believe there should be more to it than Ralph just running and falling down into the sand and meeting the soldier. So after seeing this ending it would be nice if they would recreate the ending of the story to give it more of an exciting twist. Jack as the leader of his group should have maybe prevented some of his actions along with his group and they all could have possibly lived on the island until help finally showed up but nobody stopped to take a minute to realize what they did that was wrong.

The Hunger Games, directed by Gary Ross, and Maze Runner, directed by Wes Ball, are films with similar themes such as heroism, dystopian world and sacrifice. Both films involve killing of innocent lives by authorities in charge as a mean to find peace. The Maze Runner is about finding a cure of civilisation whilst the The Hunger Games uses the competitions in order to control the population and prevent an uprising. Katniss in the film is a 16 year old girl who volunteers as a tribute in the competition. Thomas is also a 16 year old Glader who was forced to be inside the maze by the Creators. The themes and filming techniques used by Gary Ross and Wes Ball in both in their will be compared in order to see the similarities.
